Beginner First ever tank

This is my first tank ever. not that cool looking compared to the stuff i see here. but I'm pretty proud of it.

got some skittles running around. looking to get a tiny schooling fish for this 12 inch cube. what should I get?

I actually think it looks great, 👍 once those plants start taking over you will have a very clean and nice looking environment, what are you planning on stocking ?? Or just shrimp?

Honestly I'm a guppy fanatic, but if I were ever to choose a schooling fish I would go with neon tetras love their color, but you have shrimp so I think the safest bet and my second choice for a schooling fish would be pygmy corydora's they are so cool, not much in color but idk I like them . 😅

I have also been looking into pygmy corys!! You think 4 of them would be comfortable in a 12 inch cube like this one?

From what I researched about them they like to be in groups of 6-8 which is a bit much for the cube tank, but I think you could get away with 4-5 , I got some fish as a gift for my birthday a year ago and people obviously not knowing anything got me 1 single schooling fish , so I have 1 neon tetras, 1 black skirt , and they have been alone for 1 year and seem happy, maybe they might not be the happiest they could be but if I can get 1 schooling fish to live for over a year it might not be as much of a concern , plus you can fit at least 4-5 in that cube so I would say go for it! 😅

This really does give me hope. Maybe I'll get them in another month or so. Will be sure to post an update here.
