It's quite exhausting to see people engaging in this bad faith argument of semantics, and frankly quite surprising to see people still doing it after 2 months.

No gamer who says they own a videogame, or will lend you a videogame, or is playing a videogame, or wants to buy a videogame, is saying that they own the distribution rights to the videogame. This has never been the definition, nor have I ever come across someone who believed it was the definition in colloquial speech for as long as I have been a gamer, until two months ago when people started defining it differently just to hamstring the discussion in their favor.

If anyone claimed they really witnessed someone else say they owned a game and meant the IP, I would be dubious, but I have never seen anyone claim this either.

Every time someone engages in this bad faith argument, I'm immediately suspicious that they are a bot, or worse, a sheep who forgoes critical thinking on this issue.

No wonder they aren't pushing hard for next-gen consoles. The existing user base is their main moneymaking machine. And with the memory prices going up, I think Sony would be more than happy to just monetize their current player base.

I just bought a cheap headset for my PS5 and kinda regret it lol. Sound is honestly pretty bad, voices sound weird, bass is almost nonexistent, and the mic apparently makes me sound like I’m talking from inside a microwave . I thought I could get away with a budget headset since I’m not some hardcore competitive player, but after using it for a few days I’m already thinking about returning it.

Main thing I want is decent sound for games, especially being able to hear footsteps and little details without everything sounding super compressed. Mic quality matters too since I’m usually in party chat with friends. Comfort is also a big deal because some headsets start hurting my ears after an hour or two.

Not trying to spend crazy money though. Ideally something reasonably priced that works well with PS5 without needing a bunch of extra stuff or adapters. Wireless would be nice but wired is fine too if the sound quality is way better for the price.

So what should I have bought instead? Any headsets you guys actually recommend that aren’t overpriced? Would rather spend a little more now than buy another cheap one and regret it again lol.

Hey all! Got a question I don't know if anyone will be able to help. I went to download the mw4 beta last week and it sat calculating for ages then when it starts moving it stops half way through download as if I've paused it and ive not. So I thought it was just a one off but I've downloaded another couple games since then and im still having the same issue. So it's taking twice as long to download a game than it should do. Tried the obvious stuff like restart my router etc but nothing seems to work. I'm also wired too. It also only does it when im trying to install a game not update one. So I'm stumped on what I should do to get this fixed. Also rebuilt my database but that never helped either. If anyone could help that would be great!

Looking at getting a new monitor mainly for gaming and I keep seeing VRR mentioned everywhere, but honestly not sure how much it actually matters. Some monitors have it, some don't, and the price difference can be pretty big depending on the model.

I mostly play single player games, RPGs, shooters sometimes, but I’m not really playing competitive stuff where every little thing probably matters. I know PS5 supports VRR, but does it actually make a noticeable difference in normal games? Like if a game drops from 60fps to 55fps, does VRR make that look smoother or is it something you barely notice?

Also wondering if I should prioritize VRR over other monitor features like better HDR, higher brightness, 120Hz, contrast, or response time. I’m trying to stay within a reasonable budget, so I don’t wanna pay extra for a feature that I’ll barely use.

Another thing I’m confused about is HDMI 2.1. Is that required for VRR on PS5, or can HDMI 2.0 monitors still use VRR at 1080p/1440p? Seeing a lot of conflicting info about this.

For anyone who’s used a PS5 with and without VRR, is the difference actually obvious? If you were buying a PS5 monitor today, would VRR be a must-have or just a nice bonus? Any advice appreciated.

My PS5 is kinda far from where I sit and the controller battery is getting low, so I was thinking of just using my regular USB-C phone charger instead of plugging it into the console. It’s a normal wall charger, not some super cheap random one, but I’m not sure if the higher wattage could mess with the controller or battery. Do DualSense controllers only pull the amount of power they need or can a stronger charger actually damage them? Also is it better to use the original PS5 cable/charger specifically? Don’t wanna cook the battery or shorten its life lol. Just trying to make sure it’s safe before I plug it in.

Need more storage pretty bad but kinda stuck between getting a cheap external HDD with a lot of space or spending more on an SSD. I know PS5 games can’t normally be played directly from an external drive, but can PS4 games run fine from either one? Is the loading speed difference really noticeable or is SSD mostly just worth it for convenience? Also wondering about moving PS5 games back and forth from the external drive to the internal SSD, does an external SSD make that much faster? Storage prices are all over the place so trying not to waste money on something that won’t really matter. I’ve been seeing around reddit that people have been having their accounts banned with no reason at all and many of these individuals state that they don’t even play online or interact with others and that they’ve never done any backcharges of sorts with their banks in their Sony accounts. Seeing more of these pop up makes me incredibly nervous. I’ve received a warning from PlayStation once but it was an understandable reason. But to see more people just get straight banned is a whole different thing.

I've never seen anything like this outside of AAA game subreddits. The implications and the move itself is anti-consumer. The reasons people are passionate about wanting to have physical media as an option isn't because they can hold their games. It's because of the predatory mechanic of Dynamic Pricing, and being forced to pay new-release prices for a game that's been out for years.

Are people really fighting so they can pay MORE for digital licenses?

PS5 keeps randomly dropping from 120Hz to 60Hz and I cant figure out why. TV supports 120Hz and everything was working fine before, but now some games start at 120 and then suddenly switch back to 60. Sometimes restarting the PS5 fixes it, sometimes changing the HDMI input does, and other times nothing works lol. Using an HDMI 2.1 cable and the PS5 settings are set to automatic for 120Hz output. VRR is also enabled. Could this be the cable, TV settings, game settings, or something with the PS5 itself? Is there a specific setting I should check first? Any advice appreciated.

The DualSense Edge keeps popping up everywhere and now I’m wondering if it’s actually worth paying that much for a controller. The regular PS5 DualSense already feels pretty solid, so what do you really gain by going with the Edge? I get the back buttons, trigger stops, stick sensitivity options, swappable stick modules, and custom profiles, but are those things actually useful for normal gaming or mostly for people who play competitive games all day?

Mostly playing single-player games, some shooters, racing games, and random online stuff with friends. Not trying to become some esports player lol. The back buttons sound cool, but I’m not sure I’d even use them enough to justify the price. Also heard the battery life isn’t as good as the regular controller, which seems like a pretty annoying tradeoff for such an expensive controller.

For people who have used both for a long time, did the Edge actually change how you play? Are the extra controls something you end up using constantly, or do you eventually forget they’re even there? And how’s the build quality after months or years of use?

Would you buy the Edge again if you had the choice, or is the regular DualSense just the smarter option? Trying to decide before spending the money and realizing the normal controller was already good enough.
