Damn, must've been something in the water last night cause this is the third post from today (I think) about pre-ordering and I just pre-ordered mine last night. LFG boys we are so close ehehehehhehehhhhhh

Haven’t preordered, BUT, I eventually might because I’d like having it preloaded. I don’t have the best WiFi, and it usually takes me 2-3 hours for an 80 gig game to download.
If it’s something I’m hyped enough about, I preorder it so it can be ready for me… or to just show my support.

I guess in my head, wanting to have it pre-loaded on my console isn't enough justification and I can easily show my support on launch day. Even if I had to wait a few hours for it to download, I don't see it being a big deal unless the pre-order bonus is genuinely compelling enough to make the leap.

That’s fair, even though I don’t agree.
I personally don’t get any free time aside from an a day or two a week for a few hours atm. I’m barely home right now, so I can choose to wait a week after release, or redownload it and play a bit day of and enjoy it when everyone else does.

It doesn't really bother me but it does make me question why folks purchase digital media that can't sell out. Of course it's their choice at the end of the day but it's not one I intend to follow.

What's the flaw? Because you buy it early instead of release day? If it's that big of a deal you can always get a refund. Like the guy above you said you're just being a dickhead for no reason.

Untrue. Playstations return policy can be pretty difficult to accomplish anything regarding returns. Steam is different of course, but this isn't Steam.
Also there's been quite a wave on the digital front with Sony recently which should make you question if you really own your digital games or not. Playstation seems to like to describe digital ownership more like a rental would be described.
On top of that, pre-ordering anything comes with the inherent risk that the product doesn't live up to expectations. That's the gamble you make when you purchase something on basis of a promise with 0 reviews yet. The same is true for GTA 6.

That's pretty silly. I live in a pretty rural area where storms can knock electric and internet out pretty easily yet we have speeds where an 80GB game will download in the amount of time it takes me shower and eat breakfast. Again, missing the point.

That's fine but it doesn't help me understand why anyone would pre-order digital when the same access is given to someone who downloads it the morning of release.

It doesn’t have to make sense. By the release day I don’t have to purschase and download the game, and I budgeted for buying it today. Also, I’m in Puerto Rico so my internet isn’t as fast. This will probably take couple of hours to download.

Just doesn't make sense to me. Even with the internet you described, you could still purchase it on launch and play it the same morning. Idk but pre-orders really only make sense in my head unless it refers back to limited media, which in this case, digital media can't run out of stock.

Why does it bother you so bad? Like he's buying it now so it can be downloaded and he plays immediately and not wait for the download. Even if it is minuscule it's still waiting. It doesn't make sense for you to be so bothered by someone doing something with their own free will that doesn't affect you whatsoever. Nothing wrong with preordering a game even if it's digital.

OP's welcome to purchase anything he wants. I have no quarrel with that. As I've described, I have a hard time understanding digital pre-orders because the only real justification is because I want to and that's fine but I'd be cautious of that mindset. Insomniac has a good track record and I do believe it will be a good game but that won't be the case for every digital game.

I get what you're saying, but sometimes people are just excited and can't wait to play the game. Yeah, it's not going to run out of stock digitally, but there's still that rush of excitement knowing the game is yours, even if it is a digital game. And the OP isn't the only one celebrating. They're just joining in on the fun, and that's okay.
And also, let's not forget, they may want to play it asap to avoid spoilers from others. The internet just loves spoiling things, rather it be movies, games, whatever. There's something about going into the game fresh.

At 12:00 on the 15th you’ll be picking it up while digital buyers are already loading in..thats good enough quality reason BUT no one needs to explain that to u for u to understand

There’s really no point. I also preorder for preloads, then end up forgetting about it and play the game one week after release anyway. Sometimes I just get the urge to buy something, and rather than spending money on a shitty game I would just leave after two hours, I go buy something I really want. That’s my only justifiable approach to this 😂
