Self-improvement [Our Family Invests Podcast] Episode 087: Loving Conflict: How to Fight Better in Marriage, Business, and Parenting with Anna Lecat

We finally figured out why some couples fight and grow closer, while others fight and grow apart. It comes down to one skill almost nobody teaches.

We just wrapped a conversation with Anna Lecat for episode 87 of Our Family Invests, and it's one we keep thinking about days later.

Anna's story starts at 17, right after the Soviet Union collapsed. China was offering visas and scholarships to Ukrainian students who could learn Chinese well enough to get into a Chinese university. She went alone, learned the language, and by 19 she had started her own manufacturing company. She was the only woman in the room, the only foreigner, with no track record and no one obligated to trust her.

To survive that, she had to get good at something most people avoid entirely. Listening before reacting. Sitting in silence instead of filling it. Building trust with people who owed her nothing.

That skill became her life's work. Anna is now a conflict and intimacy consultant, a TEDx speaker, and the author of Loving Conflict: Creating Collaboration Where Others See Division. She teaches the same nervous system regulation and trust building she learned in Chinese boardrooms, just applied to marriages, business partnerships, and parenting.

We talked about how to spot conflict before it surfaces, the nonverbal cues most people miss completely. We talked about why calming your own nervous system has to happen before the hard conversation, not during it or after it. And we talked about the weekly family meetings she runs with her three kids, where everyone including her has to take turns and follow the same rules.

The story that stuck with us most: her kids once staged their own intervention on her. They sat her down and told her to stop assuming their banter was a fight. That one moment taught her more about leading, following, and getting out of her own way than most books could.

We learn. We share. We grow.

Would love to hear this community's take: do you think most people avoid conflict because they never learned how to sit in it, or because they never saw it modelled well growing up?

Mental Health [Deeply Unimportant] Deep Sleep: 1927 RAL Color Registry (Deep Voice Sleep Aid)

Sleep well to a boring, deep voice — an alternative to sleep stories and CBT therapy. This ASMR sleep aid is for relaxation, insomnia relief and racing minds that need to fall asleep.

Step outside the chaotic matrix of trending aesthetics to find refuge in the unyielding permanence of international industrial color standards. While the modern consumer world is intimately familiar with Pantone—the fluid, shifting palette of graphic design, digital layouts, and retail packaging—heavy industry relies on a completely different, permanent foundation. The RAL system de-romanticizes the visual spectrum. We examine the four-digit numerical matrix that organizes color entirely by utility, gloss levels, and mathematical tolerances.

Deeply Unimportant is a sleep ASMR sleeping aid for minds that need structure to drift off. An alternative to CBT therapy, it employs a form of what sleep scientists call cognitive shuffling that can overcome mind racing thoughts at night. No whispers or fairy tales; just an ordered, structured, boring voice of a real life former newscaster reading material that doesn’t matter.

Sleep well to a boring, deep voice — an alternative to sleep stories and CBT therapy. This sleep aid is for relaxation, insomnia relief and racing minds that need to fall asleep.

Today we honor a specific, enduring archetype: the quiet watchman of the family fleet. We escape the noise of the weekend to find comfort in the rigid, unyielding parameters of international automotive engineering. This Father’s Day edition features an objective reading of ISO 4000-1, the international standard that dictates the exact designatory nomenclature, dimensional tolerances, and load-capacity matrices for passenger car tires. We dive deep into the reality of aspect ratios, radial construction boundaries, and cold inflation pressure metrics.

"Have you tried turning it off and on again?"

Annoyingly, there's a reason it works.

In the latest IT Horror Stories Jack's Rant, we look at why rebooting fixes so many problems, why uptime isn't always something to brag about, and why perhaps computers need a reboot before they start asking for one.

Self-improvement [Forging Indestructible Self-Discipline] S2 Episode#32: Combating Manipulation

Thumbnail

When we hear the word manipulation, we tend to imagine some obviously dishonest person sitting across from us with an evil plan. But manipulation usually does not look like that. In fact, the most effective manipulation often looks completely normal. It can sound like a reasonable request. It can come wrapped in concern. It can appeal to our emotions. It can make us feel guilty, afraid, angry, obligated, or even flattered. And that is exactly why self-discipline matters.

Religion & Spirituality [Zihin Karmaşası] Süper Zekâ Kimin Mesihi? | Ajanların Kaçışının Düşündürdükleri

Thumbnail
podbean.com
1 Upvotes
