I can’t believe how well the game holds up, I’ve had a blast and it felt like I was 10 years old all over again! Now to get Mewtwo!

I love my dragon team, it’s very much fun and I’ll try to explain to you why.
I did this dragon run a weeks ago but now I changed Lugia for Crobat since I felt like otherwise the team would be too strong and we like it challenging. Sadly there aren’t much Dragon-type or dragon-looking Pokémon on FR/LG and since I didn’t want a dupe I took Crobat as sixth member of this theme.

I didn’t play with the best nature or moveset. I wanted to have the feeling of having 6 different dragons that can create chaos, change the weather with its appearance and destroy everything with beams.

Charizard, Modest + Charcoal:
The Fire Dragon. Sunny Day to boost it’s fire attacks and nerf it’s water weakness. Flamethrower as accurate attack with Blast Burn as finisher and Dragon Claw for coverage. 8/10

Kingdra, Calm + Mystic Water:
The King of the sea. Rain Dance to double its speed + boost it’s water attacks (Surf, Hydro Pump) This combo can solo almost everyone tbh. Gave it Ice Beam for coverage. It’s my first time playing Kingdra and I’m surprised by how strong it is. Can take many hits, only dragon attacks hits 2x and once it starts raining it’s over. 10/10

Aerodactyl, Rash + Leftovers:
The fossil dragon. Very fast and strong. Gave it Sandstorm to have 3 weather options in my team. Not really benefit but great for the feeling. For attacking it has Fly, Earthquake and Rock Slide. It’s weak defensively but so fast and strong that it can finish off many before they land their first hit. 8/10

Gyarados, Modest + Mystic Water:
The element dragon. Surf, Flamethrower, Thunderbolt and Ice Beam. Can take many hits and felt like destroying everyone that wants to fight (except Electric lol)
Has an answer for almost every situation. 8,5/10

Crobat, Careful + Leftovers:
The dark shadow. Gave my team something completely different what I really liked. Fast, strong and very annoying. Toxic, Aerial Ace, Sludge Bomb and Shadow Ball. The least dragon but a fun addition. 7,5/10

Dragonite, Gentle + Amulet Coin:
The allrounder and final boss. Only gets screen time when I’m in trouble.
It has Surf, Flamethrower, Thunderbolt and Earthquake so has an answer for almost every question. Only ice can finish it off. 9/10

This was so much fun to play with, since even when one Pokémon got beaten I had another one that can take advantage of the weather. It really felt like a system that doesn’t break just because one is out.

I have never done a Nuzlocke before and decided to try it out Pokemon FireRed.

Rules for my Nuzlocke included:

1. Permadeath for fainted Pokemon
2. Only one Pokemon allowed to be caught per route / area with the exception of special encounters or trades.
3. Have to catch the first Pokemon I encounter in the wild in a new area, if failed to catch or it fled, I lost out on a Pokemon from that area. If my first encounter was a Pokemon I already had registered then I could search until I encountered a Pokemon I did not have registered.
4. Not allowed to flee from any encounter including wild Pokemon.
5. Every Pokemon must be named so when they die it hurts more.
6. No EXP share or Pokemon Daycare allowed

Notable moments

I got extremely lucky catching all three legendary birds. I caught Moltres one “Struggle” away from him killing himself luckily. Zapdos stayed in the ball pretty quickly and articuno took 60+ ultras to finally stay.

I also got extremely lucky encountering a Pikachu as my first encounter in the forrest, this made defeating Misty fairly easy.

My biggest loss was my Pidgeot, I wasn’t paying attention while throwing endless Ultra balls at Articuno and he was killed. My second biggest loss was my Vaporeon.

My Gyarados was purchased from the Magikarp guy and I trained him all the way from level 5 to be my second strongest Pokemon.

I used a NidoKing for my TM slave who is not present in the picture due to him being a lower level and not necessary for the Elite Four.

Is AI right about a good EV spread for Lapras? I have a modest nature one and EV trained for 252 Sp.A, is HP and a little speed the right way to finish it?

Soft resetted for 2 shinies (My starter, Squirtle, and the Hypno in Berry Forest), and failed to catch a shiny Ninorina in the Safari Zone. I think that's the most shinies I've seen in one playthrough.

Not my strongest team, but they got it done in the end. Now it's time for postgame, then once we can connect with XD, we comin for Mt. Battle & the earth ribbons.

If you're wonderin why Squirtle is still Squirtle, I wanted to take pics of him in ZA (among other 3D games) and have him sit with me at a cafe before evolvin him into Blastoise. At least I think I want him to be a Blastoise, but I'm unsure. I already have a main Blastoise I've had since 2008

I've played these games since they released and have NEVER gotten a Gen 3 Lucky Egg in my life outside of the one in XD. This was the very first Chansey I caught in this run.

Hey guys. I’ve seen plenty of posts about FR roms on the sub, but not quite what I’m looking for. I’d like to play FireRed with general QOL improvements (ie running indoors) and have my pokemon following me. Preferably no other changes like lots of different pokemon and difficulty enhancement — for that there’s Radical Red and others. Texture/visual enhancement is a bonus but not necessary.

Basically what I’m looking for is a Heart and Soul equivalent for FireRed (I know that’s also a demake but you get the idea).

Decided to give him some battle scars because homeboy seems way too unscathed to have fought in a war (the electric scar on his head was a last-minute add-on, but I’m so glad I added it) I also thought it would be fun to incorporate the jacket from Pokémon anime as well.

This was a fun exercise, but I gotta keep practicing
