I’m hoping you good folk of r/portal can help me find some old audio files - or if I’m just straight up hallucinating.

I have distinct memories from several years ago of finding specific files whilst looking into F-Stop and the plans for the story - androids/mannequins gaining sentience and launching an uprising, possibly with Cave Johnson immortalised as a computer and taking their side.

These were audio files of a deep, sinister, artificial voice saying various things, all implying a robotic infiltration of humans.

“Tell them you are one of them.”

”Eat like them. Work like them. Sleep like them.” Or something to that effect.

“Tell them everything is fine!”

I was fairly sure I found them on a Steam Forum thread but searching has turned up nothing. I thought maybe I had invented the whole thing. But then I stumbled upon this thread that seemed to validate my recollection, and linked it to the ARG. I presume it would have been the second ARG given it lines up with all the concept art of the mannequins/”Aperture Science Robot Workers”. But I’ve not been able to find an archive of any sound files to go along with the concept art/screenshots that came out of Potato Fools Day.

Does anyone remember seeing (well, hearing) these as well, and where they might be found nowadays? Or have I just completely lost it?

Not sure if anyone's said this before, but I swear every time I play Portal 2, especially the moments where you are face to face with either GLaDOS or Wheatley, it feels like I'm in one of those dark rides at Disney or other themed parks where the ride pauses to watch the animatronics and such. Like just imagine it, Wheatley talking while drifting alongside you on the ride, and then maybe you launch through a portal or something and some staged mishap happens because of him, which leads to him and the passengers of the ride running into GLaDOS. IDK I feel like it's just such a cool concept to me. I had to put my thoughts out there. :-)

I know they have a text tutorial on how to do it. But I'm really more of a visual learner, and I usually get confused when I don't have pictures to follow with. so I think it would be nice if anyone had a step by step onscreen tutorial on how to install the mod..

So in portal community edition they added a paint gun, and I want to try to play the game with the paint gun instead of the portal gun, but none of the gels are working. Like they're being summoned and stuff but they're not being placed on the surfaces. Can anyone help with this?

I don't know if I'm missing something but after downloading and extracting 852_0, running command prompt and typing hl2.exe -game portal2 does nothing. Am I supposed to actually add it to steam, or am I missing files? Any help would be appreciated

Since everyone is messing around with the beta stuff, I decided to sort of go back to a bunch of other old stuff. I didn't realise it before, but the trailer is the first public appearance of HL2:E2's music track Vortal Combat.

I don't know why this makes me happy. Kelly Bailey, although for some people it might require an acquired taste, for most of us I guess, his music is amazing.

And now that some of the unreleased tracks have been uploaded, I kind of wonder what a proper Mike Morasky remake of Self Esteem fund would have sounded like.

There's a lot of placeholder assets, but also cut dialogue/lore like relaxation making your teeth fall off (what's with this game and teeth lol) also screens in test tracks!! That was cut!!

There is actually a part of the campaign with quite a few differences in this version, if people are interested I could post a full playthrough on YouTube later today, along with a dev test map which has parts that actually ended up being used in the game

Can someone atleast explain to me how to find the files? I have the torrent from steam2 in qbittorrent, but i dont know what i have to download or search.

I already got the DLC Installed on my PS3 so I'm gonna try it this afternoon

As a relatively new member of the fandom (I played the first game this past May 2026), I feel like I was just blasted with even more Portal stuff with all the new leaks that are goin' on. How do I go about making sense of them, and how do I view them? Do you think someone will upload a full video or playlist of them onto YouTube? And how do you play some of these leaks? Am I even supposed to play them? Will that compromise my dignity?
