Every time I see this, I'm reminded of a comic where a guy ended up shitting his pants while on a date and he gets up, the poop falls out of his pants legs and he goes, "Some one put shite in my pants!"

From a technical/medical perspective, Darth Vader probably cannot control his bowel movements, what with his butthole being melted by red hot magma and all.

Yet another reason why he's so pissed off all the time.

The Trump Administration literally posted themselves as Darth Vader:

They do absolutely view Palpatine and Vader as heroes and role models.

6

u/Organic_Education494 25d ago

I don’t understand how anyone can see the Empire and think “I WANT THAT DADDY DON!!”

3

u/CosineDanger 25d ago

Imagine escaping all moral and intellectual responsibility because you pledged it all to someone else. You are liberated from the need to think, feel, or consider. Besides, the imperial propaganda makes it sound like everybody else feels the same way except for a few rebel dissidents.

A lot of people have zero media literacy. And a weird wish to be dominated. They see fascism in fiction and instead of going "hey this is a reference to the Nazis", they go "WOW a big ship! A fancy flag! A shiny uniform! I want to obey these guys!".
(related reminder that Peter Thiel (one of Donny's puppetmasters), loves Lord of the Rings and rages hard because the villain didn't win)
Sprinkle some stubborn cowardice so that they try to deny being wrong when they learn the truth, and voilà.

At this point I honestly prefer it when works of fiction take the war crimes of the villains and rub it in the reader's/watcher's/player's face. They might as well say "In case you haven't realized, this is evil, these are the villains, imagine it's you or your loved ones suffering this, ya doofuses".

MAGA are the logical conclusion of this entire system: of a century of propaganda warfare, of assaults on intellectualism, assaults on critical thinking.

You wind up at a place where people don't fucking care. They don't care if what they believe is true and think you're naive for doing so. You can't convince them because all the switches in their brains are fused.

The motive force behind all of this is capital. Capitalism is so perverse and unnatural it requires constant propagandistic reinforcement. A system that cannot bear sober scrutiny must stupefy its subjects.

Ian McDiarmid had a Star Wars interview where he warned about people like Palapatine rising to power and undermining democracy. I wish they'd admire the actor behind Palapatine and not the character himself

6

u/TEKC0R 25d ago

In a conversation with my mother the other day, I had said I was amazed that anybody could not see that The Colbert Report was satire. She comes from a 6-child poor right wing religious family and said nobody in her family seems to understand subtext. It goes right over their head. They take what they see at face value. Their idea of humor is making fun of people. Starship Troopers was about the military might of humanity. That sort of thing. They aren't a bunch of dumb rednecks either, I have two uncles who worked at NASA, one of which was working at a terminal in the control room during the Challenger explosion and was involved in the investigation. A literal rocket scientist.

So these kind of people see Star Wars as just an action movie with nothing more to say. It's not that they are necessarily rooting for the bad guy, it's that they can't see the connection between Palpatine and Trump. Or on a broader scale, the connection between the fascist regimes of the past, what's happening in the real world now, and the fictional bad guys of media.

I couldn't go through life not being able to understand sarcasm.

2

u/MentalHealthAlt1 25d ago

The craziest difference between the Star Trek and Star Wars fan bases is how many of the latter seem to miss the subtext and themes of their own damn narratives. Succumbing to evil through temptation to power and misery. The burden of rebellion, possibility, freedom and alliance with others as opposed to dominance over them.

Drives me crazy. Because I appreciate the subtext of Star Wars much more than I did when I was younger, but the fandom can be so low brow.

5

u/Usakami 25d ago

Not really. They think they are the Rebels. They see themselves as the counterculture.

Yes, it is delusional, but they were never the sharpest pencils.

2

u/TechnicalWhore 25d ago

He's not Trump - its the guy ABOVE Trump, who picked Trump and rebranded HIS agenda as MAGA (Trump picked the name allegedly but it started as something else. Even the Stop The Steal campaign predates Trump. Its that guy who went after the White Nationalists and Southern Christian Leadership Conference. It was that guy who started courting Militias including the Proud Boys, Boogaloo Boies, Oath Keepers et al and unified them under one command and control (from the Willard Hotel on J6) . Its that guy who is changing FCC rules to allow consolidation of the airwaves (especially in Red States) to a form of State Run Media. Its HIS Propaganda Apparatus, Voter Suppression Apparatus, Lobbying Apparatus etc. And its NOT just in the US. The same names were behind Brexit, Boris Johnson, Farage, Erdogan, Milei, Bosanaro, etc. With Social Media and its ability to spread misinformation anonymously and virtually with no cost or accountability - globally - that facilitated this power grab. Trump is lower in the hierarchy.

This election it is about more Memetic Warfare and AI. Think critically. Do not like or share ANYTHING you have not vetted. A lie dies a lonely death. A lie shared can go viral. Its still a lie.

2

u/SakeWad 25d ago

Memes are means of propaganda, Social Media and AI are effective propaganda machines. I agree about thinking critically and vetting information, but remember this: propaganda doesn't care about fact or fiction. Propaganda wins influence through high volume, repetition and broadcast scope -- facts, truth and reason fail in comparison when the message is unable to match the volume/repetition/broadcast scope welded by those spreading disinformation.

2

u/Xtra_Veg-90 25d ago

16

u/Ok_Breakfast5425 25d ago

Nah, he looks like Jabba the Hutt

19

u/Zomunieo 25d ago

Trump and Jabba:

- speak incoherent gibberish

  • gross, smelly, sluggish
  • always tilt their head so that their left eye is higher
  • have a fight pit just outside their workplace
  • like to party but have awkward dance moves and questionable taste in music
  • have spineless robots as assistants (C-3PO, MRCO-RuBO)
  • surround themselves with beautiful women, not necessarily for sex as a display of power
  • collect tacky art, trophies and gifts

8

u/fauxzempic 25d ago

So what you're saying is that we find a female general of Antifa, let her get captured, chain her up next to him and uh...see what happens on the Sail Barge fancy ballroom?

Example #541324564323252345 that conservatives are catastrophically stupid.

66

u/Top-Cupcake4775 25d ago

MAGA actually thinks they are "the Rebellion" as they steadfastly champion the right of rich, white, Christian men to fuck over everyone else.

11

u/Anonmasterrace7898 25d ago

Meanwhile they keep making memes portraying themselves as the Empire.

4

u/nhalliday 24d ago

Well yeah, because they also need to make it clear that they're in control. They're just also the rebels fighting against the attempted evil empire of the left.

7

u/Ghostronic 25d ago

We literally just had the governor of Nevada up on stage full-on throat gargling Trump (who was looming over him from behind) about how he's taking care of his billionaire friends and we need to support that in the name of "job creation."

God I hope we vote out Trump and dumb fucking Governor Lombardo.

7

u/ROBtimusPrime1995 25d ago

One of the best jokes from Wake Up Dead Man, a film directed by Rian Johnson of The Last Jedi fame.

"Together we can build a real empire, as father and son." - Cy (Manosphere conservative influencer)

"Like in Star Wars?" - Father Jud

"Yeah, exactly, like the Rebels." - Cy

"I think you mean Empire, but we'll let it go." - Jud

2

u/Dmau27 25d ago

Hey now they will back any piece of shit that's rich.

4

u/Street-Grand6641 25d ago

I mean, stormtroopers are dressed in white...but im not sure that Jango qualifies as white...so, this is fun.

19

u/Mourning__Coffee 25d ago

Kinda like putting your enforcers in masks so their original identities no longer matter and they are seen only as the arm of the regime.

....wait

7

u/Expert-Mental25 25d ago edited 25d ago

Fun fact, by the OT at least, the only clones still involved with the Empire were aging instructors (if any at all, remember that they had accelerated aging so that they could fast forward through "childhood" of just training so they can be out on the front lines as quick as possible. In hindsight, with all the circumstances around them, I'm genuinely surprised at how non-fascist the average clone was when they were free of the chip's control. They were more like the stereotypical valiant war hero trope we see emphasized in the education/media of liberal democracies. Just a side tangent I thought of now).

The Stormtroopers most people (especially the tourist "fans") think of were just regular human-supremacist fascist people conscripted into the military. Even tho they were generally more competent and skilled than the Stormtrooper corps (especially as time goes on and the recruitment and training standards of the Corps plummet so they can get bodies for the war machine) the Emperor still deemed the Jango Clones too difficult to control, too willful, and wanted to seize the cloning tech to solely be used for cloning a force sensitive body for himself, while destroying the cloning facilities on Kamino.

4

u/DaaaahWhoosh 25d ago

It's kinda crazy to me how many people think the original trilogy stormtroopers are all clones. Like I guess there's nothing in the movies themselves to contradict it, so it's a normal enough assumption to make. But no one would have assumed they were all clones until the prequels, and now it's apparently a common enough assumption that the modern sequels had to explicitly say their stormtroopers weren't clones so no one would be confused when John Boyega showed up.

3

u/SecretaryOtherwise 25d ago

I dunno luke hinting he was gonna enlist before they killed his aunt and uncle kinda contradicts them all being clones.

A moisture farmer from "tatooine" isnt officer material. Sure he could be an engineer or something but its likely he meant a grunt or pilot.

4

u/Expert-Mental25 25d ago

It's been a minute, but wasn't that for like a tie pilot academy? I could be wrong.

Then again, we're talking modern audiences. How many do you think actively registered the brief line, and of those how many remember it?

Not excusing it obviously. I get really annoyed at the level of media illiteracy. Believe it's a symptom of a serious societal problem. But more just saying it's not surprising or shocking enough to waste our energy on ya know?

2

u/DaaaahWhoosh 25d ago

So I'd been meaning to look it up for a different reason, but it seems like it's never actually mentioned in the film what the Academy is. If you dig into the expanded universe materials sure it's the Imperial Academy for training officers and fighter pilots, but just going off what's actually in the film there's no indication he'd be working for the Empire. He just wanted to leave Tatooine and see the galaxy.

3

u/fauxzempic 25d ago edited 25d ago

Even the deleted scene with Luke and Biggs on Tatooine, Luke's like "yo, how is the Academy?" and Biggs is like "oh, yeah...I ended up doing something else." I suppose it's implied that it has something to do with military stuff (military schools are called academies, they seemed to align their interest with flight.)

But in context, it's really freakin wild.

Like imagine being in a relatively remote area of Alaska where it's pretty bleak all the time. Politically people probably lean fairly conservative and would consider themselves patriotic.

Then local boy leaves to go to The Naval Academy. Everyone's probably proud even though they're not totally sure about that group of friends he hangs with.

Then he returns for a beat and he's talking to his friend.

"Oh the Naval Academy? Oh don't tell anyone but I joined [well organized organization that would be classified as the #1 terrorist organization]. You should join!"

2

u/SecretaryOtherwise 25d ago edited 25d ago

In an empire the academy wouldve likely been military, the dude has no education.

Its a fascist system of governance.

The context is there for it. (Not like theres a jedi academy still lol)

Also see the world/universe is a recruitment slogan lol (remember the time these movies originated in)

It's brain disease and/or damage.

Look at Fetterman. Dude became pretty much an Isreal-first conservative cuz a stroke destroyed his brain.

Leaded gasoline doomed the planet. Not through environmental destruction but through brain damaged boomers.

2

u/Pasta4ever13 25d ago

It is a bit of a subtle indictment that a person who seemed at least reasonably normal had a traumatic health event that damaged his brain and it made him conservative as a result.

I'd be rethinking things after that if I was conservative.

2

u/Expert-Mental25 25d ago

I mean to be blunt, if you could rethink things, you'd likely not be a conservative anyway.

u/Jijonbreaker1 24d ago

6

u/KevineCove 25d ago

That's because fiction usually gives you an objective view of the sides involved. Films like Starship Troopers get much less consistent reception because you as the viewer actually have to do some work.

It's the same thing as all of these studies showing people prefer more left-leaning policies. Of course they do, because the policies are presented objectively in the surveys. But by the time the real legislation reaches their awareness, they're not hearing about the legislation as it is, they're hearing Fox News' fearmongering.

Jokes on you. I don't care what political party an actor leans towards. Their opinions DO NOT matter. They're entertainers. They get paid to talk!

2

u/7thFleetTraveller 25d ago

Common misperception. Most Star Wars fans never "hated" him for his personal political views, or would even agree with him. But what they heavily, and rightfully, criticized him for, are incidents like when he went to an event where people already had to stand in line and wait for an expensive autograph - and instead of talking about Star Wars, he would just rant about Trump instead. That just gives grumpy old guy vibes who doesn't care anymore what his fans actually came for.

2

u/Scratchbuttdontsniff 25d ago

Randal Graves: [talking about the second Death Star] A construction job of that magnitude would require a helluva lot more manpower than the Imperial army had to offer. I'll bet there were independent contractors working on that thing: plumbers, aluminum siders, roofers.

Dante Hicks: Not just Imperials, is what you're getting at...

Randal Graves: Exactly. In order to get it built quickly and quietly they'd hire anybody who could do the job. Do you think the average storm trooper knows how to install a toilet main? All they know is killing and white uniforms.

Dante Hicks: All right, so even if independent contractors are working on the Death Star, why are you uneasy with its destruction?

Randal Graves: All those innocent contractors hired to do a job were killed - casualties of a war they had nothing to do with. [notices Dante's confusion]

Randal Graves: All right, look-you're a roofer, and some juicy government contract comes your way; you got the wife and kids and the two-story in suburbia - this is a government contract, which means all sorts of benefits. All of a sudden these left-wing militants blast you with lasers and wipe out everyone within a three-mile radius. You didn't ask for that. You have no personal politics. You're just trying to scrape out a living.

Or people that didn't really get American Psycho wasn't telling you to agree with Patrick Bateman

Or unironically yelling ''Murica FUCK YEAH!'' While that movie (Team America) and song was all satire about the US, made by the guys behind Southpark.

Or people who, in a few months, will go ''OMG Grand Theft Auto has become woke!'' While finally catching onto all of the USA parody and satire in that franchise. They probably never even caught on Weazel News being a straight up Fox News parody. Weazel... Fox... get it?

Nobody who ever watched star wars has ever said Darth Vader has some good ideas. Nobody has ever said if laya, Luke, Han and chewbaca just submitted they would have been happier.

u/Extra_Intro_Version 25d ago

They miss the point of a lot.

2

u/butbro45 24d ago

LOVE mark hamill!!

2

u/Formally_Apologetic 24d ago

I wonder if these chucklefucks ever have a moment of self reflection and realize that the reason they can't like any of their favorite actors, or bands, or comedians anymore isn't because those people suddenly changed and became "woke". It's because they are in a cult that wants them to stay asleep.

2

u/That-Permission-9743 24d ago

They were rooting for Jabba the Trump.

2

u/Still_Bluebird8070 24d ago

My favorite is when these morons figure out Bruce Springsteen. It’s like they’ve been listening to him for four years and never heard one lyric. And once they hear it, they’re like ‘wait a minute when did he become a commie, he wrote, born in the USA song about how wonderful and great. The USA is better than all the other places where everyone’s thriving. and after writing that good america’s perfect song, he decided to go be a commie

The reality is that those who are Donny supporters and who can't see the parallels between what is currently going on and the Star Wars franchise are simpletons that, no matter what they hear, experience, or see, they will continue to follow Jabba the Trump no matter what. It's a total cult that probably provides evidence of the first evolutionary split in humanity between intellectual humans and knuckle dragging primates that are likely going back to living in trees.

I’m would imagine a lot of things escape their grasp.

2

u/nerdslife1864 24d ago

If you voted for Donald trump it’s safe to say you don’t understand much of anything.

2

u/CookieFeeling 24d ago

Oh they totally think they get it, but dumbass Maga thinks THEY are the rebels and mark doesn't represent luke. They receive gold medals in mental gymnastics

2

u/TerranItDown94 24d ago

I’m just gonna go ahead and say, SOME people hate Mark for his hatred of DT. Others, like myself, only dislike Mark’s portrayal of Luke in the sequel trilogy.

But people sometimes think the two are the same.

Also, people hate actors all the time for not liking one political side or the other. Remember Mel Gibson, Jim Caviezel, Chris Pratt, or Kevin Sorbo? They have been blacklisted and hated at times for supporting conservative and/or Republican and/or Christian values. So stop acting like the hate for Mark has any correlation to starwars or its theme or governmental structure.

u/Broccoli-Cool 24d ago

If mass media and Hollywood is on your side, hate to break it to ya, but you’re the opposite of the resistance 🤣

2

u/BigOlDyck 24d ago

Ah I see the left Reddit is ranging again

2

u/Similar_Ad4120 24d ago

So the left cheering for bigger government and more oversight and more taxes is “the rebellion” 😂😂😂

3

u/Feisty_End2401 24d ago

Came here to say the same thing. Their silence is deafening.

2

u/Reasonable-Plate2982 24d ago

I hate him because he's a Zionist.

3

u/Just_Understanding90 25d ago

Thank you. I was worried I might be alone

5

u/Kythorian 25d ago

He’s said he’s opposed to Netanyahu and supports Palestine, he just opposes Hamas.  That’s not really being a zionist.

The Rebel alliance fighting the Galactic empire was Vietnam fighting the United States. This is not mystery. The parallels between the Government and the Empire are so hard to miss you are likely to faceplant into them.

To me the message of Star Wars is to knock it out of the park every now and then and you are allowed to coast and make money.

1

u/sharky-shores 25d ago

May the farce be with them

1

u/Eyespop4866 25d ago

Trump and Star Wars are both all about making every dollar possible.

1

u/xanderdean1 25d ago

Well why dont you tell us about it bub . You got all the answers right....

1

u/RusticOcelot 25d ago

The Empire brought stability to the galaxy. The Republic was teeming with corruption. The rebellion were a group of anarcho-terrorists who sought to bring back slavery. 😏

1

u/SjalabaisWoWS 25d ago

MAGA guys struggle to understand any message at all. Their vibe is hate and digust and that's about it.

1

u/Actaeon_II 25d ago

I have wondered about this since maga talking heads first started attacking him

1

u/stingertc 25d ago

Who watches starwars and says ya that emperor was totally right and lives there whole life thinking the emperor and Vader were the good giys

1

u/EnrollmentTime 25d ago

T-rump is the anti-Empire guy. He is the rebellion.

Ever played a game called SWTOR? Come read the Gen Chat for the imperial faction for a bit.

1

u/Jayhawk_Scally 25d ago

Funny thing is they think they are the resistance against the establishment so no, they’ll never get it

1

u/Tweakler57 25d ago

People think that star wars is non-fiction lol…..taking life lessons from it and shit lmao

1

u/ghostoftheradio 25d ago

I work loosely with a guy with a full sleeve of Star Wars tattoos, all Empire and Sith…

1

u/Random_ICE_Agent 25d ago

They’re too stupid to grasp anything that isn’t spoon fed to them. And it generally isn’t even grasped then, it’s just parroted.

1

u/Im_Just_A_Tourist 25d ago

I will always maintain that The Empire Did Nothing wrong subreddits were about subconsciously getting people to agree with fascism first as a joke but actually over time.

1

u/Zeus_poops_and_shoes 25d ago

Bet they loved him in the Long Walk, though.

1

u/Idontknowidontcare_ 25d ago

Thats a stupid assumption

1

u/CandidSite9471 25d ago

I personally know quite a few Star Wars fans who rooted for the Empire, before any sequels came out. Usually can't tell if they're trolling or not, but it's a thing.

u/Hot-Philosophy-7671 25d ago

In The Last Jedi, Luke was a jaded, selfish, bitter old man who learned to embrace change and sacrificed himself for the future of the younger generation. Boomers and my fellow GenXers should listen to Luke as well as Mark.
