They share one specific and pointed opinion with OP so therefore real man. Ignore everything else.

u/BootCampPTSD 7d ago
What did he do to stand up? Say something that's popular right now?? What actual action did he perform towards his cause??
-10
u/FrenchCanadaIsWorst 7d ago
Why would any of this cost him? These are all popular opinions, especially in Hollywood.

Free Palestine a popular opinion in Hollywood? Dont think so

u/AnonymousCapybara72 7d ago edited 7d ago
It literally is.
It's actually comical how you people just shout the most inconsequential, acceptable opinions there are, while pretending you're risking life and limb to speak the truth. If anything, you're more likely to face consequences for espousing the opposite view.
Like you so desperately want to be oppressed but it's just not happening.

u/hankeliot 7d ago
Isn't Mark Ruffalo getting lots of pushback for speaking out about Palestine?
-1
u/Citaku357 7d ago
Pushback yes but he is still getting roles isn't he?
5
u/hankeliot 7d ago
I'm just using his case as an example to show that these opinions aren't really as popular in Hollywood as the OP claimed.
1
u/RetnikLevaw 7d ago
Within Hollywood?
Do you think people like Scarlett Johanson getting criticized online for supporting Israel is also "pushback"?
The point is that being outspoken on this issue is not criticized in Hollywood. At all. It's an entirely safe thing to do within their careers. Nobody is going to cancel Javier Bardem for supporting Palestine.
1
u/hankeliot 7d ago
If it's safe for their careers, and seemingly such a popular opinion in Hollywood, then why aren't more A-list celebrities speaking out against the genocide of the Palestinians in Gaza?

You know exactly what is being implied.
5
u/thaliathraben 7d ago edited 7d ago
Yeah, I see pretty clearly what you're implying. You're both conflating Zionism and Judaism, and pretending that only one set of political opinions gets singled out when we talk about blacklisting. Regardless, what was stated is literally true - see Melissa Barrera for an example.

I too want to see a free Palestine. That's why I support the complete destruction of Hamas. Hamas is an evil authoritarian terrorist dictatorship and Palestinians have a right to be free from that.
1
u/julz1215 7d ago

0
u/strawberry_semenade 7d ago
They were offered one in 1948. They refused.

You said you wanted to see a free palestine. So answer the question: Should they have their own independent state?

u/strawberry_semenade 7d ago
They were offered one in 1948. Why didn't they take the offer?
2
u/julz1215 7d ago

u/strawberry_semenade 7d ago
Why won't you answer the question of why Palestinians were offered a free state and rejected it?
2
u/julz1215 7d ago
Because I asked you first. Answer my question and I'll answer yours.
I'm asking you to speak for yourself. You're asking me to speak for Arabs from 80 years ago.
1
u/strawberry_semenade 7d ago
If Palestine had accepted the offer of independent statehood then they'd have an international state. But they didn't accept it, and now they're whining about the consequences of their own choice.
2
u/julz1215 7d ago
Nobody alive in Palestine today made that choice.
Answer the question, do you think they should have an independent state?

Made fun of iranians who celebrated khamenei's death has absolutely no sympathy if it doesn't fit in with pro-palestine move.
Lost all my respect there. No more a pro-human
2
u/Turbulent-Section340 7d ago
Those Iranians (or more so, Americans with Iranian heritage) were celebrating on the day 120 little girls got killed by the US.
Meanwhile an 86yo dictator got killed and they acted like freedom was ensured and he didn't obviously have an heir ready to replace him, considering he was at an age where every day you wake up in the morning instead of dying in your sleep is a surprise.
His son, who is as bad as him and was probably already in control instead of his decrepit father, did in fact replace him instantly and nothing changed, as anyone with half a brain could predict.
So, yeah, the people who celebrated on that day, do deserve to be made fun of. They are complete idiots.
1
u/Vanitas-Gemini 7d ago
The children who died are obviously tragic, and nobody is saying otherwise. But you're applying a massive double standard because of your hatred toward a certain country. You act like we celebrate children dying, which is obviously ridiculous. Supporting the fall of a dictator or celebrating a political change does not mean celebrating civilian deaths. You also completely ignore why Iranians have been protesting for years, how many Iranians have been killed by their own government, and why people want the regime gone. And dismissing the diaspora as if they have nothing to do with Iranians inside Iran is also nonsense. Many of us have families and direct connections there and share the same opposition. You can condemn civilian deaths while still wanting the regime to fall. Those aren't contradictory positions. By your logic, Palestinians who celebrate Israel being weakened would be idiots because Iran has also accidentally killed Palestinians. But obviously you wouldn't make that conclusionāyou understand that opposing a government or supporting a political cause doesn't mean celebrating every innocent person killed in the process. So apply the same standard to Iranians.
1
u/julz1215 7d ago
Supporting the fall of a dictator or celebrating a political change
There was no political change. That's the point.
1
u/Phoenix_Kerman 7d ago

Masculine, plays masculine roles. Married to petite and traditionally attractive female. His first comments on her are about how beautiful she is.
All it took was a little virtue signaling to get ahead of any skeptics. āAhhh but I hate toxic masculinity thoāā¦.
9
u/Shiriru00 7d ago
Tell me, these uber-masculine roles, was it when he was playing homosexual poet Reinaldo Arenas, or a man in a wheelchair for Almodovar?
Do you score roles on a scale for the queer police?

u/empire_of_the_moon 7d ago
There is zero toxicity to referring to a partner he has shared his life with as beautiful.
Her physical size is out of herās, and his, control. Whether she is tall or petite that is nature not toxic masculinity. It is body shaming to try and use her natural appearance against her and her partner.
I realize from your comments that you canāt recognize a deep, meaningful connection with another human where you feel blessed for them to have chosen you as valid. So you need to minimize that which you cannot have as virtue signaling.
Notice I wrote ācannot haveā versus ādo not have.ā
That type of connection will elude you until you begin to soften your worldview.
You owe it to yourself to seek happiness and the first step is being less judgmental and less strident.
Pick your battles. This wasnāt the hill to die on.

They would already have that if they hadn't attacked Israel in 1948 along with 7 other Arab states.
1
u/julz1215 7d ago
Not really a guarantee. The first prime minister of Israel has explicitly stated that the long term goal is to control all of Palestine.
0
u/strawberry_semenade 7d ago
Israel called for regional peace in its founding address. Quoting directly from the Israeli Declaration of Independence:
We extend our hand to all neighboring states and their peoples in an offer of peace and good neighborliness, and appeal to them to establish bonds of cooperation and mutual help with the sovereign Jewish people settled in its own land. The State of Israel is prepared to do its share in a common effort for the advancement of the entire Middle East.
The Arabs then responded to this Israeli call for peaceful coexistence with a declaration of war, and the rest is history.

u/julz1215 7d ago
"It does not hurt our feelings that by this acquisition we are not in possession of the whole land. This is because this increase in possession is of consequence not only in itself, but because through it we increase our strength, and every increase in strength helps in the possession of the land as a whole. The establishment of a state, even if only on a portion of the land, is the maximal reinforcement of our strength at the present time and a powerful boost to our historical endeavors to liberate the entire country."
