Thank you. Thank you very much.
We’re gathered here today on a very solemn occasion. September 11th. A terrible day. One of the worst days in the history of our country. Some people say the worst. And I know terrible days, believe me. I’ve had many of them. Probably more than anybody.
But today we remember the nearly 3,000 beautiful American lives that were taken from us. Incredible people. Great people. And the firefighters, the police officers, the first responders. Tremendous courage. Nobody had ever seen anything like it.
And I knew many of them. They knew me. Everybody in New York knew me.
I was a very big person in New York at the time. Very successful. Probably the most successful. I had buildings all over Manhattan. Beautiful buildings, by the way. Strong buildings.
And people don’t like when I say this, but I think it has to be said.
If I had been president, September 11th would never have happened.
It wouldn’t.
They say, “Sir, how can you say that?”
Very easily.
Because I would have seen it coming. I understand buildings. I understand airplanes. And frankly, I understand terrorists probably better than anybody.
We would have had the strongest borders. We would have had the best intelligence. Osama bin Laden would have looked at the United States and said, “No way. Trump is president. We can’t do it.”
He would have been terrified.
And we would have saved thousands of lives.
But unfortunately, I wasn’t president. I was doing something else at the time. Creating jobs, building some of the greatest buildings anyone had ever seen.
And then many years later, something else terrible happened to our country.
The 2020 election.
Very sad.
And people say, “President Trump, this is a 9/11 memorial. Why are you talking about the election?”
Because it’s all connected.
Weakness.
Our enemies see weakness. They see it immediately.
We had an election. I won’t get into it too much today because this isn’t about me. Although frankly, nobody has been treated worse than me.
Probably ever.
Maybe Lincoln.
Lincoln had a very difficult time. But the press liked Lincoln. They hate me.
We had millions and millions of people vote for us. More votes than anyone thought possible. We were winning beautifully, and then suddenly, things started happening.
You know the story.
They know the story.
Everybody knows the story.
And when you allow something like that to happen, our enemies see it. They see a country that isn’t strong anymore.
When I was president, they respected us.
China respected us.
Russia respected us.
The Taliban respected us.
Al-Qaeda respected us.
They didn’t necessarily like me. Actually, some of them probably did like me. A lot of people like me. You’d be surprised.
But they respected us.
And that’s why you didn’t have another 9/11.
Think about that.
Four years. No 9/11.
Nobody talks about it.
The fake news won’t give me credit.
CNN will probably say tomorrow, “Trump claims credit for there not being another 9/11.”
And you know what?
Maybe I do.
Because there wasn’t one.
That’s just a fact.
So as we stand here today, at this beautiful memorial, and it really is beautiful, they did a tremendous job, although I probably would have done a few things differently, we remember those we lost.
We remember the firefighters.
We remember the police officers.
We remember the families.
And we remember that America must always be strong.
Because when America is weak, terrible things happen.
September 11th happened.
The 2020 election happened.
And I don’t know which one the historians will say was worse.
Obviously September 11th was very, very bad.
But what they did in 2020?
Also very bad.
Very different.
But very bad.
So God bless the victims.
God bless their families.
God bless our incredible first responders.
God bless the United States of America.
And we are going to make America great again.
Again.
Because we already did it once.
Thank you.
And by the way, tremendous crowd today. Absolutely tremendous.

Don't forget he'd be sure to toss something in there about how he "spent a lot of time" at Ground Zero helping first responders. 🤣

He’d probably say he was in one of the towers when it fell and, because he’s a winner, tunneled through the debris and bodies, holding his breath until he clawed his way out. Finally, emerging, the smoke clearing around him to reveal his was clenching an American flag between his teeth.

I can't find anything about this now, but I distinctly remember him openly claiming was there the day it happened and he'd helped "clear the rubble with his bare hands" or some nonsense.

Or he know had the tallest building in Manhattan now that the Two Towers had fallen …

He actually said that on 9/11
