For real, what’s in it for them? 40T in debt? Huge effort for the benefit of people who weren’t Canadian citizens prior? Doesn’t make any sense besides being a massive global flex.
Plus the population discrepancy would render our votes meaningless; why would we risk letting 10x the population join us when they’ve just shown what they’ll elect?
If we (Canada) let them become the 11 province, make it so they can’t vote or have any political strength at all. I bet we could turn them around and make them become what they already believe they are and not a country-shaped toilet
It's actually just the backdoor version of annexation. Americans call it "becoming Canadian" but in reality they are 10 times the population and their politics and cultural norms would drown out Canadian ones.
Nah, there IS a technical benefit that I would assume most people on Reddit either don't know or conveniently forgot.
First, a disclaimer: I very firmly believe that the US and Canada should 100% remain as separate countries.
But... on a purely pedantic note, there's more liveable area in the US. Go find the map of where 90% of Canadians actually live: there's a red line on a map (drawn long before trump!), and the vast majority of Canadians live BELOW that line. Said line is actually VERY close to the border.
The vast majority of Canadian land is relatively unsettled. They've had about 200 or so years, and now with modern technology... and yet most of the area south of Hudson Bay is still wild, IIRC.
canadians are just as stupid as americans,They had their very own trump problem themselves before trump started attacking them. trump himself was the one who polarized them. Let's not pretend they are just smarter....
