The more people involved, the more potential that someone would leak information or a photo. And there’s a lot of people involved.
I mean, I agree that this is all shady as hell- but I expect the truth is probably less exciting than the Weekend at Bernie’s scenario we’re all imagining. McConnell is probably alive and conscious, but probably slow and almost nonverbal. He’s probably in no condition to serve in his capacity, but technically meets the basic requirement of capability.
It suggests the opposite. If he's dead, there's a lot less people involved. Half a dozen maybe, that need only spread information that he's... somewhere... and they have seen him recently and spoken to him (even if he isn't speaking back).
If he was alive, however incapacitated, there would be so many people involved that it would be impossible to keep it under wraps.

First of all, that's not the opposite. I literally said "dead/incapacitated". The opposite is alive/alert. You're deliberately changing my argument and shoving words in my mouth to satisfy your unevidenced conspiracy theory.
Secondly, I contest your argument that a high-ranking politician would only have a half-dozen people aware of his death. That seems a like a wild underestimation. He wouldn't have just died quietly in a locked closet guarded by a couple staffers. He would have almost certainly died under close medical supervision with an involved team of doctors and nurses. THEN you have staffers. THEN you have family. THEN you have your high-level conspiracy group dictating that it be all kept under wraps. You have the logistical operation of moving and storing a dead body, which probably involves at least several people. It's not like there's a ton of specialized places where you could store a dead body- unless you're imagining something ridiculous like they're hiding him in the walk-in freezer of an abandoned restaurant or the freezer hatch of a fishing vessel loitering off-shore.
Him being alive but incapacitated, to your point, would probably involve more people covering him up.
Him being alive, alert, not requiring medical care, but is otherwise minimally functioning would be the easiest to hide. It wouldn't be much different from an elderly person with dementia being taken care of by a family member. They could keep him at home with a caretaker nurse. To the occasional witness, they see he's alive and awake and responsive. If media were to interview him or he did a press conference, it would probably be another replay of the time he forgot what he was saying mid-sentence. Not fit for office by any normal standards, but technically legally capable.
