Discussion President Davis?
He fled south after the war, was captured, and imprisoned. He was indicted for treason but never tried, and he was released in 1867, died in 1889.
Charged with treason but never tried. Anyone know why he wasn't tried?
Hypothetically, if he ran for President in 1868, I'm sure he'd get very little support, but was there anything in the law preventing him from hypothetically running and winning?
