Pressure Cooker Features
I'm thinking about getting a pressure cooker. What are the most important features? I'd like to get one that's non-toxic, so ideally with a pot that's stainless steel.

I just have a pressure pot. It does the job perfectly and I don't have another big appliance standing in the way.

Make sure it has a manual pressure cook setting. The ones that have just presets make precise adjustments a pain in the butt.

Thank you! That’s really good to know! Do you have a favorite brand / model?

I have a 6qt instant pot, and after two I still love it. Midea has an instant pot pro clone that seems to be a really good value and has a stainless liner.

First, decide if you want a stove top PC or a standalone pot. We wanted to keep our range uncluttered with big pots so we went with a Instapot 8 qt. So far (3 months) we have zero regrets or failures. It does everything we ask of it. It has a stout pot that can be used alone for soups, etc. with very good handles for placement. This pot is the only part that gets washed after use.

I say this a lot, but I love my Presto stovetop. It’s stainless steel, affordably priced, and is compatible with induction cooktops.

Here’s my cooker. The ring on the out is because my son put it in the dishwasher. Don’t do that, ha-ha.
This 6-qt model is $98 US on Amazon, but you may find a better price elsewhere. ( I don’t know if you live in the U.S.).
My 1st Presto was a wedding gift in 1979. Someone boiled it dry while I was at work and warped it. My sons are more important than material possessions—but I know one of them must be the culprit.

Thank you for the video! My Mom had a stovetop pressure cooker when we were kids. Seems like lot of people are recommending the stovetop options! I was thinking about getting an electric pressure cooker, but now I think I’ll get the stovetop version.

You’re very welcome!
My only caveat is that you need to stay in or near the kitchen with a stovetop cooker. You will need to adjust the burner heat higher if the rocker slows down

Kuhn Rikon are brilliant. They have one that has a switch-off pressure valve, but I wouldn't find that necessary - take it off the hob and it'll come off pressure in 15 minutes or so anyway. We use it for stews, ragouts, risotto, stock, etc. Brilliant, and saves a fortune.

Thank you. I’ve never heard of that brand, but their products look great!

You've already got the idea. A simple stainless stovetop pressure cooker will do all you need. No features required.
