Feedback wanted Built a floating image/video reference overlay app. Let me know if it’s trash please
I’ve been doing a lot of 3D modeling and drawing on my tablet lately, and I couldn't keep having to constantly switch apps just to look at my spatial blueprints or character sheets. I looked around for a tool that would just let me float my references right over my workspace, but nothing really did exactly what I needed. So... I figured I'd just build it myself, and it honestly works great for my workflow (Especially now for my animation work).
It’s an overlay app called HUD. It basically lets you float images, perspective grids, or even videos over whatever app you’re currently using while allowing you interact with anything under it.
Here is what it actually does:
● Floats over anything: I use it to keep my architectural layouts and character designs visible while I work in other apps.
● Lock & Ghost modes: You can lock the overlay so it becomes "pass-through" (meaning you can interact with your app or canvas right underneath it without accidentally moving the image), and drop the opacity to make it transparent.
● Stays out of the way: It has a clean UI so you can just focus on your project.
It's up on itch.io right now with a completely free version. My primary goal right now isn't really to push sales... I honestly just want more people to use it and give me brutally honest feedback. I want to know if the app is trash, what improvements can be made, what features are missing, and how your overall experience is🙇♂️
(I do have a $4.99 Pro version up there because I eventually want to fund the $25 Google Play Store fee to move it there, but seriously, just go for the free one and see how it feels).
