• When an investment entity tied to the UAE's National Security Advisor, Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed al Nahyan, invested $500 million in the Trump family's cryptocurrency venture, World Liberty Financial, it was in cash.
• When the Trump organization received licensing income from developers in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Oman to brand luxury golf resorts and skyscrapers, it was also cash, they received.
• Similarly, when Jared Kushner's investment firm, Affinity Partners, received investments from UAE & the Qatari’s, it was also cash BUT
• When Trump touted the Saudi investment of $600 billion “I have told the Prince to round it of to $1 trillion & he wants to invest because we are the hottest economy in the world”, Trump said. It turns out that it was not only not cash, but not even an investment. It represents a combined total of expected trade and investments (over 10 years) under the kingdom's Vision 2030, rather than immediate direct investment. Unsurprisingly, we have yet to see a dime of direct investment.
• Similarly, the UAE $1.4 trillion direct investment is functionally impossible in the short term, as it is more than double the entire nation's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). We have yet to see a dime, in direct investment.
• The Qatari $1.2 trillion "Economic Exchange" represents the total projected bilateral economic exchange—including purchase agreements for American goods—rather than direct capital investments into the U.S. (WH.gov)

These deals are all reminiscent of Foxconn deal, in Trump 1.0. I am old enough to remember Trump breaking ground, with a golden shovel, on a promised $10 billion liquid crystal display (LCD) manufacturing complex in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin. Trump famously labeled the project the "Eighth Wonder of the World" and promised it would create 13,000 high-tech American jobs. Foxconn was offered a $2,85 billion tax credit, at the time. None of it materialized.

Tariffs would pay us dividends & eventually do away with income tax; grocery prices will come “rocketing down”. The US debt would be all but paid off, as long as we were willing to sacrifice “some short-term pain, for long term gain”’.

It turns out that the short-term pain is you, Mr. President. Let us hope we are relieved of some of that pain, this November.
