Does anyone else absolutely hate Compton Boole's level?
Personally I hate timed challenges in games that are open world focused.
Also am I an idiot or what does an irritating cooking competition have to do with Boole? Did the devs marathon a bunch of Drag Race and decide that everyone loves puppets?
Oh and how could I forget the boss battle with vomiting puppets. Disgusting.
I really hate this level.

So like a quick breakdown of how this relates to Boole. Dude is an anxious wreak because he blames himself for everything that happened. The gameshow is how he feels outside that chamber; constantly being watched and judged by others but as seen by the end those cruel voices are just his own mind being a dick. Hence the puppets being well puppets and poorly made ones at that.
I personally found the level fun but I also love the pressure, thanks ADHD. The ending fight is stupidly gross.

The timer isn’t actually real. You can go past the time with no problems

I was under the impression you needed to beat the times to get the prizes (aka collectibles). Am I incorrect?

Nope if you go back after you beat it you can get them just out in the open

Yes, you do have to beat the times to get the prizes. You can go back to get them later, but only after you've beaten the entire game. It's impossible to 102% the game before beating the final boss, though, so when you want to get them is up to you.

Compton's Cookoff is actually one of my favourite levels in the series. As someone who has Generalised Anxiety Disorder I feel it perfectly captures it.Â
The presence of the timer which ultimately means nothing (the prizes do eventually become available if you fail the timed sections, you just have to complete the rest of the game before they're unlocked) is a good representation of how unhealthy levels of anxiety can make a person overthink and overemphasise the severity of a situation that really isn't that big of a deal. To me it was a good representation of catastrophisation and how destructive/unhelpful it can be.
I got nothing for the vomit, though.

That's my favorite level 😂Â
Probably the trickiest level, but it's very elaborate and I love it.Â
