Accessions/OML/Branching Cyber MOS Selection
First off, this seems like an obvious question so feel free to redirect me if there is already a post or website available.
Does anyone have insight on how the Cyber branch selection works down to your MOS? Do you recieve the job when you recieve the branch, or compete at BOLC?
Im currently pretty set on one cyber job in particular, and while I wouldn't mind having one of the others, it would affect my decision knowing how competitive it is to recieve each MOS (17A, 17B, 17D)

How it works (from the guy at branch day at CST), is that after you get selected for Cyber, a couple weeks later you get an email asking which one you want. 17A is the default, and then you can take an assessment for 17B/D. I know for 17D, it is very competitive. There are 140 cyber slots this years, and only 15 slots for 17D. 17B is much much easier to get, although I don't have an exact number on that.

This is generally correct. 17D BOLC is a separate from 17A BOLC so you would need to apply and be selected for that class. They send out a call for those who are interested shortly after branching.

You do interview on Hirevue, if you passed initial interview you get invite for zoom interview with person (takes 10-15 minutes) than wait for branches to release their preferences.
If you get most preferred 95% you will get CY branch.
If you get branched CY, you will get email from branch asking which route you wanna go, A,B or D.
You won't know your actual assignment until you get to the BOLC.
My advice apply for Army Cyber / NSA internships, ROTC offers slots every summer.

Once you get cyber, its assumed your a 17A, 17B callout will happen, and generally if you vokunteer , you get it. 17D has legit test/ application, and is extremely competitive

Extremely competitive for all. There is an approval process run by the Cyber CoE that you have to go through to get Cyber.
