Question/Meta META: Rules and call for mods

Hi everyone! I have received a few messages about developing some guidelines for who can post what in this sub, and I think this is a very good idea that I would love community input on. The truth is that I started this sub kind of as a joke and didn't really expect anyone to use it. I've never modded a forum like this before and honestly I don't have a ton of time to devote to it.

Therefore! I am looking for:

  1. Thoughts and ideas for what people want to see in this sub. The main concern I'm hearing (and honestly share) is that some posters are posting kids' art that isn't theirs to post. I have been thinking about this and I do think it's kind of a fuzzy line; I created the sub for parents, but I don't think anyone would object to someone posting their younger sibling or grandchild's art, for instance. But I think we all similarly feel that there's a point beyond which it feels kind of icky. Any thoughts anyone has about drawing that line would be much appreciated!
  2. Mod volunteers! Ideally people who have some experience modding subreddits. I don't really have time to be as on top of this as it deserves, but I love the idea of this community and want to see it succeed.

Thanks for reading and for being here - please let me know any other ideas or requests you have for this community!

I frequently tell my daughter stories of the DnD game I DM (Curse of Strahd for anyone curious). So every so often it’ll pop up in her artwork. I let her draw on my battle mat and this was the result. As she describes it:

  • My 4 usual players, myself, her, and her little sister.
  • At the bottom, a zoo the adventurers will visit that includes an elephant, a giraffe, and a dog.
  • To the left, a beach they can visit that also has an orange door.
  • The door goes to “Spooky World”. This is shown with its own sign, and contains a witch, a skeleton, and a zombie.
  • The zombie’s tongue and the sun are red because “they usually aren’t red, so that makes it super spooky.”

I’m incredibly proud of it. I will definitely be basing a one shot off of it in the future.

My son loves art, so much he wanted to see if he could sell it to raise money for charity! 🥹❤️. Charity is TBD but he’s leaning towards the American Cancer Society and The Humaine Society. I told him how on eBay the sky is the limit to how much money he could raise!!!!! So Reddit do your thing!! 🙏🏻🫶🏻

My 3.5 year old drew this kitchen... I was blown away by it. She's always been artistic, but for some reason, after her pre-k open house yesterday, her drawings are suddenly suuuper detailed and she drew this kitchen and stove with a pot of food AND this bonus ceiling fan in perspective!

So for context, he wanted to keep his cool cologne bottle, but not just as an empty bottle. He asked if I had epoxy (and I did) and that he only wanted to his the bottle one time. He placed most of the pieces but he let me put a few small shards in there. We are waiting for the first layer of epoxy to dry and then will secure it with the final layer. What do you think?

Unfortunately the clear coat I put on has since become gross and sticky. Is there a place that would replicate his art and wrap a large metal tumbler for me?

So a preschool teacher in my daughters kindergarten told me the other day when I picked her up that my daughters way of drawing is pretty unusual for her age, he said that most three year olds is just starting to draw circles and stuff like that. I never thought about it, I’ve just enjoyed watching both my kids draw and the differences in how they do it 😍
