The results on the recent ship-wide poll on how strictly Rule 4 should be enforced are in.
Even adding the "Less Strict" and "No Change" votes together into a 'Not Stricter' joint category, just over a third of the community still want stricter posting rules. And looking at core contributer votes, it's a near 50/50 split between "No Change" and "More Strict".
Flat out banning crossposts, random references, and "Red Dwarf in the Wild" posts (where someone shares something that simply reminded them of Red Dwarf) seems a little harsh considering the split. But doing nothing at all would also mean ignoring a large proportion of the community... so...
The announcement is still going on.
INTRODUCING SMEGPOST SUNDAY!!
All low-effort "look at this random item / person / haircut / foodstuff / news article / post nothing really to do with Red Dwarf but here is a title quoting/referencing the show so ehhhhh nudge nudge ehhhhhhh, you see what I am thinking ehhhhhhhhhhhh?" posts must now be kept to Sunday, and be given the Smegpost Sunday flair.
To start with we're hoping we can keep the rule on relevancy pretty loose on Sundays as a bit of compromise and see how that goes, so some smeg that would have been removed previously may now stay up on Sundays, but lots of smeg that would have stayed up the rest week will now be removed... so pros and cons, highs and lows, demons and angels.... if the community response is still that posts are just a little too smeggy even on Sundays we can see about raising the bar again later down the line.
Anyone posting smeg on non-Sundays or misusing the Smegpost Sunday flair will get one reminder, which if ignored, will mean they aren't able to post again. Seem fair?
Oh and we'll turn off crossposts for a bit and see how that goes.
MESSAGE ENDS

I used to watch Red Dwarf semi-regularly, and only on a recent re-watch did I finally notice a few things about the music:
The two songs Lister sings (and hums) in Season 1 are just different parts of the same song - Ganymede and Titan is a line from Lunar City Seven.
In "Thanks for the Memory" Rimmer's dream song Someone to watch over me is the same song he drunkenly starts singing moments before falling asleep.
In "Parallel Universe" the disco music is the instrumental track from Tongue Tied from the same episode.
Are there any other interesting facts about music in the show that I've likely missed?
Edit: I'd also be interested to know if I'm the only human being in the universe who didn't notice these things on first watch.
