General Question Factory Gold Plating
I’d love a gold Daytona but I’m reading a lot about having to plate it after I’ve purchased the watch. So my question is the watch states it comes gold plated ‘Case : 18k yellow gold plated 1:1 replicated solid 904L stainless steel case, add weight case’ so why would you plate over gold plating? Or have factories come along since some of the previous posts?
Factory I’m looking to buy from is QF.

Other people disagree, but my opinion is don't get gold plating. It never looks like the real thing. And it will just wear off especially if you wear the watch a lot. I have a couple gold plated chains that are actually very good quality. But even those look like crap now after about six months.

Couldn’t find it after searching for 10 mins so thought I’d ask. Got the answer I wanted so very helpful for me.

I bought that same exact watch from QF and red lit it during QC. The gold was just too far off for my taste and I did not want to get it plated. I've read that there is definitely some variance between batches.

It’s PVD plating, not as good as 18K bath plating
