TD/Shipping Question Cancelled order with Andiot
Andiot deposit paid on 5/12 for a Hulk, also paid deposit to another TD.
QC arrived from the other TD 6/17, GL same day, mods done 6/18, tracking received 6/21, watch received 6/30.
But as of today 9/1, nothing from Andiot except the regular factory delay schpiel.
Cancelled order with Andiot and requested deposit refund. Let’s see how long it will take them to issue refund.
Wonder what’s the average QC turnaround time from Adiot.

We have not received any VSF Hulk stock since May—sorry, but it is still unavailable. If another dealer had one, then you were fortunate; they may have had old stock available. We cannot provide QC for a watch that VSF has not delivered to us.
Your deposit refund will be processed, so there is no need to worry.

I bought an VSF Omega aqua terra 41mm black dial weighted, clean and shiny watch, i paid 425 including 10 dollars two-day shipping, I didn't get the two-day shipping that I purchased however the TD refunded the 10 dollars and through in an extra 20 for the inconvenience that I went through, it came 5 days later, tracking from beginning to end, good communications throughout the whole shipping process, I'm ordering an AP Royal Oak soon from him! P.s the TD is Luis and you can find him on r/dialdistrict on this site!

How much is the deposit you guys usually give for a watch? I got 2 from different TDs and both I paid upfront in full.
The difference was I confirmed they had the watches in hand before buying so Less concern re delays etc

I’ve never paid more than $50. In some cases I don’t pay until after QC; depends on whether they have to order the watch or not

I've been fortunate not to paid a deposit for a rep that I wanted, in my experience with the TD, I was lucky he had the watch when I reached out to him, and I paid full price upfront of course! The TD i use in the U.S is honest and very trustworthy each and every time I did business with him! The wait time is about 5 to 6 days tops, but if you want your rep sooner, there is a two-day shipping option, its an extra 10 dollars with UPS!

VSF produces different watch models in batches. If TD doesnt have a watch on hand then you are essentially waiting for VSF to produce the next batch of that model.
This is nothing to do with a dealer...

Andiot was able to get me an RCF hulk in like 3weeks to my mail box. Sure it’s not vsf but honestly it’s way better than I expected and cheaper than a vsf.

That is the reason why I stay with TDs in the U.S! I pay a little more, and to me I won't be taking the risk of losing international entry, if customs happen to find these counterfeit watches and put a red tag next to my name and address! You can always say you didn't know who sent you the watch, but then everybody that lives on that address will lose international entry! Stay local if you can, if not good luck to you and be careful who you buy from bro, cheers mate...

US dealers put huge markups on effectively the same watches. Most of the reptime approved TD's offer replacement if customs seizes your watch.

Agreed. Can you get cheaper from a China based TD? Yes. Are they two day shipping once the QC is done? No. Do you have to worry about the package being hung up in China or CBP? No. Will the China TD work with you if the watch is defective? Not really (this is hands-on experience with Steve at TheOneWatches, two defective watches, was advised to “find a watch smith in the states”). Had a defective AP OffShore from GenReps, returned it, refunded right away. (Actually, just used refund to purchase different watch LOL)
So, yes, US based TD’s add a premium. To me at least it’s a small price to pay to not worry about it getting seized, avoiding the acrobatics required if the watch is seized or defective and quick shipping.

A 20-25% margin for the removal of customs risk, and much more effective communication is a worthwhile price to me for on hand stock received in a couple of days and the TD doing some initial QC for me.

Same for me and I think it’s closer to 15-20%. I’ve had a couple of issues with purchases and both were resolved quickly which is why I keep going back. They also offer a return window and a warranty period. I’ll gladly pay more for great customer service.

I’m UK based but would happily pay 15/20% more for someone who has on hand stock they can FaceTime / show me the watch and lands at my door in a day or 2. If anyone knows a UK guy let me know!

I pretty much exclusively use GenReps. He’s in the states.
Have ordered over 20 watches from him with no issues. As well, he offers 2 weeks return, 2 months warranty, and 2-day shipping.4

I have to defend him. I did order a VSF v3 Pepsi with modification of a Buff Meteorit dial.
Because you can place free VSF orders, you need to know that there will be a lot of traffic for Andiot. I was calm and did ask every week for an update, which I did get. Yes, sometimes it’s a bit hard. If you tell him the order number and he asks for an order number, but all in all, if you are patient and trust in him, he will deliver. Compared to Steve or Jtime, he has the cheapest prices and a good service. I got 3 watches from Jtime but would say Andiot is better and cheaper.
Just my opinion, and I respect all other opinions.

Because they don’t have the VSF in stock because everyone Wang to have one, they offer a pre-order. So if you order a VSF, say it’s a pre-order, and you only have to pay as soon as you gl the QC.
And for me, the service was nice. Yeah, you have to be calm always and trust the progress, but if you do, it will work perfectly. IMO

Well, for me, it was. I paid nothing until I got the green light from my QC. I talked about the service before the order, during the order, and after the sale. And also that he did install the dial.

They have a policy for VSF orders specifically where you can pay after QC, no deposit required. They call it “VSF FREE PRE-ORDER POLICY”.

My guess is that Andiot waits for the number of orders for a specific model to add up to a large number before they place the order with the factory, which allows them to get a volume discount. Hence their slightly below-the-market pricing, and their unpredictable wait time.
No other TDs have this kind of wildly varying wait times. The only explanation, is that Andiot does not know when sufficient orders for a model will come in for them to send the orders to the factory.

Waiting for months, that would have been a deal breaker for me, I understand getting these watches overseas you save money, but for me if I could pay a little more and deal with a US based td, in my opinion it's worth every extra penny, i paid for to get the watch in2 to 5 days max...

Your other TD may had luck sourcing the watch that you wanted, but Andiot had trouble finding it. this doesent mean andiot is bad or anything. some other model the other TD mightve had the same problem with.
