Discussion Bugs??

Where are these swarms of bugs coming from? I noticed them my entire commute home and then they were everywhere when I got home on park.

I noticed there were tons of what looked like flying ants landing on my car while stopped at a red light at 12 corners in Brighton earlier. Didn't think too much about it as they aren't that uncommon. Went to cover the pool a couple hours later, thousands of dead ones floating around, never had that happen before.

I've got them in Greece too. But, I though they were normal flying bugs. Dunno.

Yeah they look "normal" to me, I've just never seen so many before. Also anecdotally, I feel like I usually see them in late June, not this late in the summer.

They are usually noticeable at night time. But during the day that's a rare sight.

Wait omg I noticed excess bug action this evening, too! East Irondequoit!

It’s wet, it’s hot, it’s muggy, and it’s late summer.

Saw a bunch of flying ants out on the west side earlier while walking my dog. I don't usually see those at all, let alone small swarms of them.

I live in ROC and work in BUF. It's in BUF, too.

They are having one last huge orgy before the weather turns cold. Those huge swarms are just a huge mating cloud.

Yo, we’re getting yellow jackets like crazy to the south in Livingston County. Like, not the normal amount.

They were all over my car in Brighton and was at Twelve Corners Middle School and I was walking into them. As a new Rochesterian I was like what is this?!

Noticed them driving from the Basin to Irondequoit tonight, weird.

There were a shit ton. They were constantly splattering on my windshield.

Given how low the insect population has been recently, I'm happy to see a few swarms.

I was mildly annoyed until i realized it means our ecosystem is doing somewhat good so I got over it pretty fast.

This perspective may have just changed my outlook on life. I really appreciate that.

There’s a jar that’s a good bug

My understanding is they are pollinators and good for the garden. (But I wouldn’t appreciate yellow jackets!)
