Picked up my pre-order after work. She is so gorgeous. So excited to finish this duology!

I recently picked up a few new books and I’m excited to finally get into them. I’ve been looking for something with a fun fantasy world and a good romance, so hopefully these are a good fit. Anyone else starting a new read lately?

Do you have any book recs where the main couple give off these vibes? I quite like it when the gender roles are a bit inverted. I’m a huge fan for a MMC softie and more emotional than the FMC. Not quite sure where to look for that either! I’ll read any level of 🌶️ and pretty much any sub genre as long as it’s well written! (I’d happily read M/M and F/F if you have any recs)

I don’t know if it’s just me, but every time one of those threads pop-up in my feed, it seems to be the case. Just read it. If it’s on your TBR, don’t ask what you should read next because the answer is The Knight and The Moth. It’s a relatively short gothic-vibe fairytale with a bit of spice and a talking gargoyle.

And, anyway, the sequel just dropped today, so that’s the next book I’ll be reading.

Specifically fantasy men, i saw a post a while back talking about Garrick from fw making a misogynistic comment, and the comments were up in arms really mad someone dared call it out.

Or, like, god forbid, someone says Rysand wasn't the best because they will get you .

Also, statistically speaking, most of the readers and people getting mad are women, and it's like, are all these women really defending this shit like the comment from garrick, why are we acting like that's okay? And the excuses they come up with for these men is crazy.

I'd also like to add all the men they're defending with their whole soul would hate their guts too

The MMC is DEFINITELY protecting the FMC!! 🗣️

Okay, I LOVE LOVE LOVE when the male protagonist is protective of the FMC and goes out of his way to keep her safe. 😭❤️

The most recent book I read with this kind of dynamic was Veso by Laurann Dohner. In the book, the FMC gets caught up in a dangerous situation after discovering that supernatural beings actually exist. She helps Veso escape from prison, and in return, he agrees to protect her and get her safely home. I'm giving a VERY simplified version of the plot, but I absolutely LOVED their dynamic.

So now I'm desperately looking for books with a similar vibe! 🥹

I want an extremely protective MMC, especially if he starts protecting the FMC even though he doesn't initially want to or doesn't realize how much he cares about her.

It would be even better if there were some kind of forced proximity, where they're forced to stay together for some reason and he ends up having to protect her.

I also LOVE the trope where, at first, he sees her as weak, vulnerable, or someone who needs protection, so he doesn't necessarily take her seriously. But as they spend more time together, he starts protecting her because he genuinely cares about her. 👀

Basically, I want the MMC to be like:

“I don't need to protect her.”

Five chapters later:

“If anyone touches her, they're dead.” 😭

I'm open to ANY recommendations with this kind of dynamic! Fantasy, paranormal, sci-fi, contemporary romance, aliens, shifters, vampires, anything!

The more protective the MMC is, the better! 🫠❤️

What’s a book that left such a gaping hole in your heart that you genuinely had to take a few days off from reading because you just couldn’t move on?

The kind of book where you keep missing the characters, thinking about the story, and wishing you could go back to that world. You try to pick up something else, but nothing feels right because, deep down, you know it just won’t compare.

The kind of book that leaves you thinking, “What am I even supposed to read after this?” because nothing will ever quite hit the same.🥲

Okay, so this might be very specific... but I was *so* obsessed with the dynamic between Day and Night in Crescent City and HATED *hated* how it transformed in CC3 so much. Like I was mad mad. I felt so cheated. I adored Ruhn for his protectiveness, humour and charisma. And I thought (spoiler free) Day was perfect and loved how ride or die she was for Ruhn. I loved the reveal!

What I'm after:

Secret identities. Both don't know who each other is in real life

One or both are morally grey

They meet in disguise

They know of each other out in the real world and are enemies (one works for the bad guys)

Honestly a lil torture for good measure.

Yearning and tension

So I love reading, any and all types of romance, fantasy, or realistic fiction books. Right now Im looking for a good Romantasy book that is un-put-downable (if you get what I mean).

Spice is alright, just I don't want to be the only thing too.

I also like two types of FL: like the soft and innocent type or the bad girl vibe

For ML: I like kinda the bad boy vibe or puppy vibe

Though I dosen't have to fit those categories exactly those are just what I usually like!

I love books with vampires and werewolves or when there is a love triangle, age gaps are nice too but nothing more than 10 years that just grosses me out (sorry!)

I’m heading to DragonCon this week and one of my outfits is “Romantasy Reader and Book Boyfriend” 😂 I made the book bag, stitched together two shirts from Sparrow and Wilde, sound the sneakers and got a crap ton of stickers and TBR cards to give away. What am I missing? Oh - a book boyfriend! 😂 My husband is going in full fantasy garb. 🥰 (Ps. Puppy tax paid) But seriously - anything else I can add to make it pop?

Could you guys recommend me something with MMC like Cardan from The Cruel Prince or Jacks from OUABH? They may not be the most toxic guys out there but I’m new to this and I am so tired of shadow daddies… pls I need trickster boys or just straight up toxic men gimme anything 🙏

Looking for more Fairy like tales with Fae with Wings like this...

Hello there, sorry if this has been asked before, but wanted to refresh a question. Or maybe get some new updated recommendations. 😉

Wanted to ask for a book that feels similar to Sugar Apple Fairy Tale (novel or anime) in terms of the fairy or fae. I am not looking for slice of life or whimsical, just the fae or fairy that have wings on their backs like the show. Where they can feel people touch their wings, they can have them stolen and ect. And not just a single scene in which they appear. I like seeing them and even when authors describe the details of their beautiful wings.

My only desire is HEA, spicy (open door and above romance 💙) and nothing too short. If it is longer then that is better. 💙 Even bonus if the male main character is the fae like in the show. 💙

- I just read {the wolf king} and its sequel, the night prince, and I absolutely LOVED IT!!!! I have the craziest book hangover…. I felt Blake was better than Rhys in acotar, partially because Rhys was so villainous intoxicating and intriguing before SJM made him this fluffy omg I save kittens for fun in my spare time, “omg it was all a front” type fluffy hero… PLEASE DO READ THE WOLF KING IF YOU WANT THAT ORIGINAL RHYS!!

- I would say {the cruel prince} / the folk of the air series also did an amazing job of this with cardan

Anyone have recommendations if i really liked that slow burn / Blake type MMC? Other than ACOTAR, which did it amazingly obviously?

I’m sure opinions on Fourth Wing are split here but like many others, it was the first romantasy I read so it has a special place in my heart

My favorite parts were Xaden and Violet’s sparring sessions. He didn’t go easy on her, exploited her weaknesses to prove a point and really drove home that if she messes up in the real world, she’s dead. The power dynamic, tension and physical chemistry was everything to me 😭

I feel like I haven’t found anything similar yet so please give me your best recs!

Having just spent August trying and failing to not reread a new-to-me series on instant repeat I pondered what the connection was between the books that completely throw me into an instant freefall. I read so many romantasy books that I’m able to just move on from, even if I adore them and then some that just stick to me.

So this a no judgement allowed post to ask what everyone else has been obsessed by and if there is a link. I’m fairly sure mine is “toxic obsessed completely red flag MMC” as part of it, no surprises there! Strong limerence is also a theme.

Here we go

1. The original straight-up romantasy that I read, The Empyrean series. If Rebecca Yarros is paid by the word I read on the e-books, I have made a living for her. Xaden isn’t necessarily a red flag MMC but I like the plotting and intentional writing that hides loads of clues.

2. The Wolf King / Night Prince. Unhealthy obsession with Blake as soon as he entered the chat. I’ve imagined every possible ending in my head. why though? why this series?

3. Blood of Hercules / Bonds of Hercules. Pump the antics of Kharon into my brain. My current obsession. I had avoided reading these as they got terrible reviews. At least having waited, it isn’t too long for the finale. Top tier stalking and forced proximity. I love the Greek God in the future theme.

4. Feathers so Vicious duology. Delicious. I have no trigger warnings. Love the raven theme. Yes I know that Malyr is extremely problematic.

5. Bride of Brutal Hearts. First book, so honourable mention. Two red flag husbands.

there are lots of books I read over and over and adored but these are the books I can’t get away from.

I preordered knave and the moon in May and just checked and it’s not even shipped 😭 it’s been back ordered apparently.
I also ordered the rerelease of Eldritch from allurial and it’s also been delayed.
Also also immortal rose has been delayed at owlcrate for understandable reasons, so I’m happily waiting for my copy. But dang so many delayed in this book packed month.

Okay I was LOVING this book up until the point that Xül has to marry someone else. WHAT?!
I was fully prepared for Xül and Thais to die together once he got to her in the end battle scene. I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED THAT. Compared to her being a literal shell of a human being in a gilded cage, her love married another and her twin is just gone.
Idk I’m floored, I could’ve thrown the book into a fireplace.
That being said I enjoyed it otherwise, I just feel like the authors did her sooooooo dirty
