Want to be a mod? Check out this post.

If you’re interested in being a mod of this sub please send a dm to modmail and comment here that you did so. One of the other mods had their account banned… and I’m sure mine is next. Even if they don’t ban it I’ve been thinking about deleting my account anyways.

If you don’t get a reply back it’s because we’ve been flooded with messages or are busy with them. I will do my best to get to all of them though.

I will not add you as a mod if you are a business; if a future mod decides they want to that’s their prerogative, but for now I will not add a business as a mod. Businesses that get added as mods turn the sub into business pages, even if it’s unintentional.

For the most part people are very respectful here and the sub runs itself. If I’m remembering correctly I’ve only had to ban 1 person on this sub ever. Seriously, this sub is great, likely because it’s small and members have a common interest.

Id like to add a few so there’s extra people around if mods leave or lose interest.

I know most subs want experienced mods, but it doesn’t matter how experienced you are as long as you’re reasonable and interested. Thanks for wading through the wall of text. in your message just leave a brief couple sentences on why you want to be a mod and your favorite thing about the sub.

Edit: Thank you to everyone that showed interest. I'm likely going to add a few of you and send mod invites sometime in the next few days. If you didn't see this right away and are interested you're always welcome to ask if we're looking to add more.

No Sales

In light of the recent reddit rules change please do not make any buying/ selling posts, especially for things that were TOS violations before the rule change.

I'm also putting the rules back up. A new mod was added a few months ago and he removed the rules, I wanted to keep them as a just in case, but allowed it at the time. Sorry to sound like a hall monitor, I can count on one hand the amount of people that have caused trouble here and been banned.

This sub is great, people are respectful of each other and eager to converse politely. But please do not make sales posts. Thank you.

Mark IV 250th Anniversary of America

Has anyone mounted a red dot on their pistol with the smaller, shorter, factory mount? How has it worked out? The low profile
Mounts from lobos don’t seem to be much lower.

How difficult is it to replace the extractor on a Mark 4?

I’ve been having a lot of stovepipes lately, even after cleaning the pistol. I bought it used so I have no idea how many rounds have been through it. A new extractor is like 12 bucks. Looks like it’s pretty straightforward to do, but it looks like it could be a PITA too. Is this something an MK novice could do?

I was using CCI Mini Mags, so I don’t think it’s an ammo issue.

May still change out the trigger. I’m on the fence if I like stock.

My new suppressor host

I wanted a dedicated suppressor host for my Banish 22, so I paired it with a Silencer Shop MKIV 22/45. I also drank the Reddit Kool-Aid and installed a Lobos RMR mount with a Holosun 3 MOA optic from PSA. I ordered hex head filler screws from Ruger to plug the holes left behind by removing the Picatinny rail. Life is good!

This is the one gun that goes to the range every time. Really enjoying the new B&T can.

LowPro aluminum or Lobos?

Lobos looks nice and is cheaper but the lowpro might be able to cowitness (barely) and has a lower bore height.

Mark IV new barrel does not fully mount - button doesn't come all the way back

I picked up a threaded barrel for my Mark IV Hunter, stainless barrel and grip. I picked up a threaded blued 4.4" barrel. When mounting, it clicks into place, but the takedown button does not come all the way back. As a result, the safety will not disengage.

I'm pretty sure this is an issue with the machining. But where should I focus? My first thought is the rear lug. The front lug looks fine to me. I did notice the lip on the rear protrudes a bit more than my other barrel.

Wondering if I should just send the grip and new barrel to Ruger to have them fit it?

There's not a lot on this, but others had noticed burrs and took those off. I found hints of some, but it doesn't seem to fix the issue.

I’ve wanted one of these since I was a kid! I’m officially a part of the club lol.

I wanted a Ruger Mark IV 22/45 Tactical, but CA handgun roster only allows plain Target or 22/45 models. I call it my Ruger Mark IV 22/45 Tactical “at home” lol.

Here’s before, after installing the pic rail and red dot, and some fresh made memes for your consideration 🥴

Edit: Also if anybody has suggestions for an under-barrel rail, let me know and send pics lol. Madd Mac’s Precision is looking like my best bet at the moment

If you’ve never heard of these mounts, go check them out. So much better than the huge factory rail. Looks so much better and sits way lower.

If you want to check them out their website is lowpromounts.com

Why does it seem like every MK IV for sale is a 22/45?

I browse GunBroker, Armslist, GunsAmerica, and all the local sites, and I've noticed something.

For every single normal Ruger MK IV I've seen for sale on the secondary market, there's somewhere between 5 and 7 22/45's for sale.

Do you all think it's a product of there just being so many more 22/45s than there are regular MK IVs? Is it a grip issue, where people get the 22/45 thinking they're going to like the 1911 style so much more and then end up not liking it? Do they jam more with that grip angle?

What's going on?

I'm a big fan of the Ruger pistol grip, so I've been looking to buy another one, but I have to sift through so many 22/45s to even LOOK at any.

Anyone have hardened carbon buildup in this area on the inside of the receiver? I’ve tried just about everything to get it off. Is it a problem?

Volquartsen Accurizing Kit install was not that bad

Post image
70 Upvotes

I’m relatively new in the shooting world, I’ve been seriously shooting (weekly range time + competition) and collecting guns for about 2 years now. I’ve only ever installed some optics and swapped an AR trigger, so I was a bit intimidated to install the Volquartsen accurizing trigger kit, especially after reading some comments that it’s kinda difficult. But I didn’t want to give a gunsmith $100 to do it so I watched the install video a couple times and went for it.

With breaks included, it took me about 2 and a half hours (probably shouldn’t take this long but I really took my time and had to redo a couple things). As long as you have a big, organized, CLEAN workspace it’s really no issue. You definitely will want some needle nose pliers though but you could get away without them. Just make sure to read the entire guide page and then the video will take you through it. The only thing I struggled with for a minute was the sear + sear spring, but after that it was kind of a cakewalk.

All in all, unless you think you’re liable to lose some parts, just go for it. It’s worth it to take the gun apart and see what’s going on in there, and you’ll feel very proud of yourself with your crisp new trigger :-)

I’ve enjoyed this gun a lot with the b&t tiger. Had a cheap green dot I wasn’t using on anything else so decided to throw it on for now. It’s actually pretty decent but definitely want to upgrade to a better optic eventually

What optic mount do I get?

I have this old mark II target and would love to put an optic on it but I'm not sure how to go about the optic mount. Any thoughts/suggestions?

What range bag are y'all using?

I have been using the Savior single pistol range bag for my MK IV but it's a pretty tight fit. I carry in the bag: the pistol, 4 mags, 4 boxes of ammo (60 rounds each), magazine speed loader, cleaning kit, allen set, glasses and walkers razor muffs. The ear muffs are the tightest fit so I'm thinking about just getting a case for them but I'm also open to getting a different bag.

Recommendation needed. Looking for a Mark IV 22/45

I ended up getting my husband a tactical with just the upper Picatinny rail. It’s just a little heavy for me and I’m wondering if someone can make a recommendation of a model that is lighter, but has the ability to add a silencer if I choose to in the future and also will allow me to put a Green Dot on it. My intention would be to add it with a very low profile aftermarket plate rather than the Picatinny rail. I don’t have any need for a rail on the bottom.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
