Race to Wrigley '26

It's not posted on their website yet but does anyone know what the course is for this year's Race to Wrigley? Previously, it was a pleasant run that went over by Ravenswood but last year's course was pretty much around the cemetery and through alleys. I'm hoping they'll go back to the original course.

September 13th is my birthday and I have 14 miles for Chicago marathon training. I know it’s super last minute but are there any local races that weekend!

Upcoming Races Visiting Chicago and running the LIFE TIME Chicago Half Marathon — looking for recommendations!

WEEKEND Time between waves?

What is time they wait between releasing the corral waves? I did the Chicago House Run today and it was behind schedule and started late. I didn’t think I was going to do well since I did the tough Mudder not even 12 hours before this race, but I surprisingly coasted through the whole run and never stopped once which has never happened. I was passing people constantly. Then I hit the finish and my chip time says “net time 36:21” which would have been the slowest I ran in my life which isn’t possible. I’m thinking the chip just tracked from the start of the whole thing to when I finished and I need to subtract the waves? I just don’t get it

New laws for e-bikes 🎉

Most important part: high-speed e-bikes must be driven on ROADS

Enforcement is another story, but I’m happy to see some progress and focus on protecting pedestrian safety.

Fleet Feet starting in LP and Heartbreak starting not too far on Halsted assuming they’re both utilizing the LFT. How big of a cluster is this gonna be 😩

I mean I’m assuming they’ve cooperated w each other but I don’t see the routes online. I’ll be running with fleet feet but yeah lmao anyone know more about the logistics?

Volunteering: IL Brewery Running Series

Anyone volunteer for these events? Seems like it's basically just setting up in the AM and packing up afterwards? Do the volunteers join the run?

I'm confused because it seems no different than paying the $35 to join the run.

WEEKEND So how was everyone’s long run yesterday? Amazing how different it was without the heat & humidity of last weekend!

The 606 was so calm this afternoon.

Absolutely glorious.

I finally ran the whole lakefront trail this weekend!

This has been a goal for many years. I’m at the point in my marathon training that I could actually do it. I was especially curious to explore the start and end of the trail. Those spots had a very “where the sidewalk ends” feeling. I appreciate now that I have context for how the whole path fits together. And my perception of lakeshore drive has definitely changed now that I’ve run so much of it (I was wincing at the start as my Lyft rushed down LSD towards 71st street and I had to absorb just how far I would be going by foot).

All in all, a 10/10 experience. The weather was perfect, and people from all walks of life were finding ways to use the space in ways that they enjoy. The lakefront belongs to everyone.

My advice for anyone considering this would be to run it south to north. Osterman Beach was a very peaceful place to end the run.

Has anyone had any experience with races organized by or interacting with Epix Events? I am trying to reach out to them about one of their races in Chicago, but they appear to be slow to respond. TIA!

Run club for the thiccc ones

Im new to the running club/scene.I am bigger boy I was thinking about starting a run club for the thicccc ones. More motivation towards each other. Workouts with not as much mileage and slower paces. Let me know if anyone is interested. Meet a few times a week evenings or mornings. Have a tempo day, 2 long run days and an interval day. Hit up the stairs at swallow cliff and find an indoor faculty during the winter months. Hit the inbox of you are interested and we can set up an IG page.

How is the blvd system running south of Humboldt park?

Hey! So I recently moved to the northwest side of Logan and want to try and incorporate the blvd system into some of my mid week moderate length runs of 8-12 miles. (Currently training for a marathon)

I’m already very familiar with the usual suspects for long runs, north branch, north channel, lake front, etc, and I like using the 606 for some runs especially speed work, but I like neighborhood running for my mid week easier runs where I can just get out my door and mosey around. I’m always looking for more variety and get sick of the same routes over and over

I’m familiar with running the Logan blvds & Humboldt park, but how is the pedestrian infrastructure for taking Sacramento blvd down to franklin blvd and then to Garfield park? I don’t mind some lights if it’s similar to Kedzie/Logan/Humboldt, but if it’s going to feel like a traffic ridden death trap with no sidewalks I’d like to know before setting out that way.

Note: Not a safety/crime question by the way, thats not a concern for me. I just want to know about the actual running experience on that route infrastructure wise as it relates to traffic and intersections.

Running past people

does anyone have trouble when passing people on sidewalks? If I don’t say “on your left/right”, they either can’t hear me or get mad when I don’t. if I do say it, it scares the living s*** out of them and is just very awkward. wondering if anyone has some advice on this?

Running from Aurora to Oak street beach Downtown

Any advice? I’m planning to run 42 miles. What time should I start, and should I bring someone with me just in case? This will be my first time running that far. Previously, I’ve run a marathon and have completed 20-mile runs multiple times.

I also understand that I’m most likely undertrained, but I still want to take on this challenge

I know air and water show weekend is challenging on the north side of the LFT. But these water fountain extenders almost make it worth it. Wish they were around for more than a couple of days.

Long Run Recs in Logan Square?

Update: Thanks for all your recommendations, community! I think I'm going to try the North Shore Channel Trail!

Training for the Chicago Marathon (my second since running SF in 2018, so it feels brand new again) and am looking for long run routes in Logan Square or Humboldt Park for 15 miles +

Anyone have a route/loop they love? Wondering if I need to bite the bullet and drive out to the LFT hella early in the morning for these long runs...
