Yeah, AEW is where the best wrestle like how everyone in AEW says the same thing.

the strategy has always been to invade social media/streaming/forum spaces and force the discussion towards the Dub

u/EastMeetsNorth 19h ago
100%. I wondered why AEW fans/bots/etc. spent so much time fluffing AEW on social media spaces, and this is what makes sense.
The idea is also for new viewers who are interested in pro wrestling (or WWE fans who stopped watching at some point) to get bombarded by "AEW = cool, WWE = evil" on online spaces (because many pro wrestling fans tend to be terminally online) to take over the conversation.
Sadly, it worked for the basement. Looks like they've recently been going after MCer as well.

this is on their patreon, and he was one of the last world champions of their promotions. are they just supposed to ignore what he's been up to since they shut down?

u/RipCity77 19h ago
Seriously who the fuck is that guy

u/gothamsteel 19h ago
Jake Something aka Jake Doyle, the one of many Eater of Pins in the Don Callis Family.

I never know if it’s the Jake guy or the guy that used to tag with Kyle Fletcher

I have no idea who this guy is lol

u/TheMaskedHeelMark2 19h ago
He was the lone survivor of the O'Doyle car crash in the movie Billy Madison.

I thought for a second he was one of the McPoyles from Always Sunny.

A jobber in TNA and a jobber in AEW. His name was Jake Something.

u/ZeroOhblighation 18h ago
That makes sense, when everyone around you is better than you it's not hard to think that's where the best wrestle, even if they suck lol

u/kodan_arma Astroturfing Goofy 18h ago
He perpetually existed in the midcard and preshows. He isn’t very good.

I’m too much of a Deadlock fan, this jerk is painful

u/---Pockets--- 17h ago
OSW and Deadlock were peak before AEW started up. Both groups of guys just shitting and laughing along on old WWF and WCW will always be the best. Can't stand their modern episodes and takes though.
16
u/Levy-MAN 16h ago
I don’t watch OSW, but Deadlock barely focuses on modern wrestling at all anymore. And on the rare occasion they do, I never feel like they’re sucking off the company, more just supporting the wrestlers, like in this clip, it feels like they’re going along with it because they’re happy for him, and maybe they do think AEW is the best wrestling out there, but they aren’t jackasses about it, and they don’t act like they’re better for it

u/---Pockets--- 16h ago
Going back to listen again, its not as bad as I remember. Everything with Cole was so good though

u/Mister_Jackpots JACK CARTWHEEL'S NUMBER ONE FAN 16h ago
Deadlock hasn't done modern episodes for years because they were growing to actively dislike AEW because of it, so they stopped in order to enjoy it.
Show hasn't been the same since Tony left.
5
u/---Pockets--- 16h ago
Last I saw, he was primarily uploading 2K videos. He's not as much fun without being on Deadlock.
1
u/DangerDamage 15h ago
Did they actually say that's why they stopped modern episodes? That's hilarious
3
u/Mister_Jackpots JACK CARTWHEEL'S NUMBER ONE FAN 15h ago
That was the implication. That they were not enjoying ending up being so critical of it.

OSW fell off the worst after Jay became a DUB cheerleader and doing more AEW episodes

I really enjoyed John Blud’s contributions to this conversation.

Jake Something has a tattoo on his right thigh that he covers with a brace. It’s always bothered me since he switched to the generic black trunks look, and once you look for it, you can’t not look for it.
Just wear some pants, dude. At least you’d be memorable in the bloated faction you’re in.
7
u/Phenomenal_Hoot 18h ago
It’s an enormous dragon ball z tattoo.
Jake is legitimately a very impressive looking guy and you see that and it’s like….ah dude…

I really like the Deadlock boys so whenever they start wading towards saying something about the dub I’m like oof let’s not be m*rks boys.
Hell I thought I liked AEW when they reviewed them and when they shifted to only retro content I realized that first dynamite without a deadlock review, shit I don’t even like this crap, I just like hearing Jawnny do the JR voice.
7
u/TheeAJPowell 17h ago
IIRC, they stopped reviewing it because they said it was hard to find something positive to say about it.
And this was when it was still relatively fresh.

u/ProtomanBn 19h ago
I can’t hate on this guy, we grew up in the same town and went to school together. Seems like a cool dude.

I understand Jake was a bug deal in their indie, but did they really need to have him on to promote the Dub? Most of their guys went there. Its not a big deal.
Jevon was their only guy who made it to WWE and the guy isnt even old enough to drink.

"I get to go on the internet and say 'Where the best wrestle' and mean it!" pretty weird and petty thing to say even though TNA was the main reason you got over in the first place but okay.
2
u/Cboz27586 Whoop that Trick! 15h ago
He actually stood out in TNA. Now you can't tell him apart from Mark Davis plus he's just a jobber for the DCF.
