RA waitlist

Hii I've currently been on the resident assistant waitlist since decisions came out this past march. Just wondering if anyone has heard back and been offered an official position or if anyone has known of alternates getting positions? I just want to better know my chances although I'll probably have to reapply in the fall. Thank you.

I did get a position! I'm going into my second semester. Got the position going into the spring semester

omg that’s amazing congrats ! ik it’s a rlly competitive process and not a lot of people drop out so i was rlly counting on this summer before fall or before spring semester starts bc that’s when most people drop out of the role. how do you like it so far ?

I'm in freshman dorms, all female floor. I really like it! I had a great floor last semester and almost all of them said good things on my eval. Though, I haven't had to deal with parties or a big issue that forced me to get another ra or campus police involved. I'm going through training again starting next week with all of the new hires for the academic year.

The biggest way that people get in is through upperclassmen going away for study abroad. Only 1 ra left for study abroad and the other dropped out of the school.

love to hear it and i hope training goes well next week ! do you know if they have found any replacements for the two ra’s that stepped down? ive been working as a desk assistant over the summer and i have a starting position for 2026-2027 so hopefully that can get me on reslife’s radar lol

So how it works at my school is when someone gets taken off of the waitlist, they will get the training done and become an ra. The person that they are replacing if they study abroad, they still get to come back the next semester as an ra, if that makes sense.

Ex. I took over for the ra that went to study abroad. She is back as a student at my school and I'll actually be working with her on the same staff in my building, even though she left, she still has a spot on staff. The other ra that took over for the person that dropped out, will also stay as an ra.

Applications for ra go out around feb-march. Res life sent all of the ra's a form to fill out about if they were coming back and which community they would prefer to live in. So by the time new ra apps go out, res life knows how many people they need to hire and which communities need more staff. At my school, they hire ___ amount of ra's to cover all the seniors and people that don't want to stay on staff and have a waitlist of about the same amount of staff they hire. Everyone else gets rejected, though they can apply again the next year.

Does that make sense?
