Question Accommodation recommendations near SOAS
Hi everyone! I’m joining SOAS this September for an MA and I’m currently looking for accommodation.
For those who are already at SOAS, what would you recommend as the best accommodation close to campus? I’m mainly looking for somewhere within walking distance, ideally around 30 minutes from SOAS.
I’ve been looking at places like International Hall, Garden Halls and Paul Robeson House, but would really appreciate firsthand opinions on:
- Which accommodation is actually worth the money?
- How is the overall living experience?
- Any issues with noise, cleanliness or management?
- Are there any other nearby options I should consider?
Would especially love recommendations from current SOAS students/postgrads. Thanks

IMO no accommodation in london is worth the money. Properties are so overpriced.
My studio is £1850 pcm. So not worth the money.
If your budget is tight, look for properties at Waterloo, Southwark, Fulham, Battersea, Wembley, Vauxhall. Prices are more reasonable compared to other properties.
IIRC Paul Robeson is in Wood Green. Avoid Wood Green. It’s just gangs. Same with Tottenham. Whitechapel is basically Pakistan and Bangladesh. Same with Bethnal Green. Not very safe if you’re a woman.

Not being racist. It’s lived experience.
Avoid Golders Green, too many antisemitic attacks there
