Mistras Union Busting for Potential Speea Boeing Strike.

Boeing caught hiring scabs for SPEEA positions instead of getting back to the table and negotiating a fair contract.

It would be a shame if we all submitted applications then didn't show up for scheduled interviews

17000 applications 1 opportunity!

Look, if you had 17000 shots for 1 opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted in one moment. Would you capture it or just let it slip?

Mistras doesn't have nearly enough employees in Washington to cover SPEEA. Hell, even if they used all of the NDE contractors I doubt they could cover it. They also have established NDE contracts with all of the local refineries and they would not allow them to pull people to cover Boeing.

Problem here is Boeing likely thinks a few hundred factory facing engineers with another few hundred global engineers can keep the delivery queue moving at a reasonable rate. The leverage here is the same as in 1999. It's the UMs. Fortunately I don't think these are easy to replace at all

When a new contractor comes into MRB, they still have to go through the audit process of obtaining mrb . I guess it is possible that managers can perform audits, I can’t imagine other engineers doing that in the next 30 days. Usually you need 30 days of tag work.

True enough....I think there are some non-Union SoCals with MRB authority. I suspect the plan is to leverage them. I've already heard about SoCal teams being asked to support production.

That’s a valid point and had no idea they’d pull them away. I’ll have to ask the people I know down there.

the time it would take to interview, hire and train that contracted employee to be able to effectively take over a SPEEA position would be longer than the strike and effectively would just be a money drain imo. a lot of teams estimate 3-6 month learning curve to be a value-added, contributing employee

Would take significantly longer if there’s no one training too

just goes to show you how plug and play they think we are. Between the design practices and process guides that no one seems to update... just throw in a new grad and give em a bunch of a reading... what's the worst that could happen...

Our director on Thursday pulled our two contractors into a room asking if they would come in during a strike. They said no. The director came back and said I can offer you a lot of money to come in. The two guys stated it was about time and a half. They both are about to retire and said no way, but this is what Boeing is doing.
