I’m looking to meet some new people around Sacramento/Natomas. I’m into bike riding, working out, grabbing food or coffee, checking out new places, and enjoying a little devil’s lettuce sometimes. Mostly just trying to get out more, meet good people, and build a solid circle of friends. I’m down for something chill like a bike ride, coffee, food, or just hanging out. If you’re on the same vibe, feel free to message me.

Looking for a band

I've spent my earlier years dabbling in music here and there, but never committed to a single instrument, I've now realized what I love the most is writing. I've spent most of the earlier years writing rap, but I'd really like to branch out and do different music as my lyrics were always so genuine and meaningful. I've taken a long hiatus from writing but would love to get back into it and find a band that needs someone like me, I'm not opposed to doing vocals as well, if that's what your band needs. I'm not advertising myself, I would do it for free just for you to see if I'd fit into your band, I would love to spend my free time doing something that makes me happy, expand my creative skills, and build a meaningful relationship with cool people while I do it.if you have any questions, please comment or reach out, and if you've read this far, thank you!

Community Sacramento Area Men’s Book Club, Starting in Sept.

Hi all - I’m starting a men’s book club here in Sac.

Initial thought is for it to be one book a quarter. Starting with nonfiction in the Fall, a Classic for Winter. Spring, a newer fiction novel. And for summer, a thriller/mystery or something similar.

Goal would be to meet at least once when finished with the book, but hopefully at least one other time while we’re reading. Will have an open chat of some kind.

Currently have two others who have reached out with interest. And potentially a Sac book store who has shown some interest.

Message me if interested.

LGBTQ+ Social Support Group for LGBTQ+ 18-25 Year Olds

I wanted to share about a group I am hosting for LGBTQIA+ young adults (ages 18-25) that starts tomorrow.

LGBTQIA+ SHOP is a 6-week social/ support group held at the Placer LGBTQ+ Center in Roseville. We do social activities such as jackbox games, board games, crafts, and weekly discussions on topics such as mental health, building healthy relationships, self-image, etc.

This group is for LGBTQ+ young adults (ages 18-25) residing in Placer, Sacramento, or Yolo county, who have had adverse life experiences such as experiencing or witnessing violence, bullying, harassment, hate crimes, or having a close family member who has experienced these events.

My goal is to create a supportive space for LGBTQ+ individuals, especially for those who might feel isolated or not have many relationships, to connect with the community in a low stakes way.

The group will be every Wednesday from 4-6pm starting this Wednesday, August 26th until Wednesday September 30th.

Those who attend at least 5 of the 6 total sessions will also receive a $100 stipend as a thank you for participating.

It is short notice if you're just seeing this so if you can't make the first couple sessions, there will also be a smaller stipend for those who come to 3 or more sessions. We also host other free events for participants outside of the regular meeting days like the last group we went to a waterpark together.

I encourage you to share with anyone you know who might benefit from this group as well!

Please fill out the registration form so I know how many people to expect

Thank you!

Moving to sac

So I'm moving to Sacramento likely for a job it's a very great opportunity but before I accept, I was hoping to get some input from the community.

I am in my 20s and honestly, I'm just kind of worried about what my social life will look like and what the area is like that the practice is in. I initially thought it was in downtown Sacramento area, but it's actually in the Folsom area.

Does anybody have any insight on how social life would be? Like is this an area that as girl in my 20s I'll be able to have fun and do things or is it more of a family community? Is it safe?

Thanks guys 😊

Dirty Cello at the Fair Oaks Performing Arts Center - Aug 22

Join the Dirty Cello band for a special night at the Fair Oaks Performing Arts Center on Aug 22.

The Dirty Cello band has a crazy backstory and a lot of wild adventures. After spending years studying for the classical symphony world, things went off the rails, and now they travel the world playing blues and rock. The Dirty Cello band features classical cellist gone rogue, Rebecca Roudman on cello and vocals, who is backed up by a top notch rhythm section.

A review from Aldora Magazine, a UK based publication, recently described them as, “Their combination of blues, rock and roll, and bluegrass is an utterly irresistible sonic cocktail, converting listeners in their droves, a fanbase that now has dedicated cult followings all around the world.”

Dirty Cello at Fair Oaks Performing Arts Center
7991 California Ave, Fair Oaks, CA 95628
Aug 22 at 7:30 pm
Tickets: $20 - $24 at dirtycello.com

Looking for new members to join our film and production meet ups

Hey Sac citizens! I have a group of nearly 200 locals and each week some of us meet up for at least one film and then we go out for drinks and food after. One event we went to was a showing of The Thing at the Crest Theater where there was almost 1,000 attendees all screaming and laughing with the movie. Some of us also work in media and we team up for projects. Two of our members found each other this past week and just worked on a new, local music video!

If you love movies, just want a movie buddy or want a career in film (whether you have any experience or not), come join us! It's a great way to meet friends, enjoy movies and be creative (movie nights and film production do not have to be mutually-exclusive, you can do one or both!).

The group has members of all ages from 20 to nearly 50, all sexual orientations, races, introverts, extroverts, production experts and people who have never even stepped foot on a film set; it is truly a group for everyone who enjoys film as a medium or as a career!

I can now proudly say, thanks to the mod team at r/Sacramento , we are now on the sidebar in the "other links" section! However I'll also leave the link to the server here, see you there!: https://discord.gg/8wTEHxJ93w

Hey y'all!

My name is Colin and I'm part of an indie pop/rock band called Comfort Club. We're based out of San Diego but we're popping up to Sacramento next Saturday (August 22nd) for a show at The Starlet Room! Thought I'd drop it in here since we're trying to start playing up in the area more often in the future. Felt like a cool way to connect with local artists and music fans! We're also playing with Rainbow City Park, bloodsugar, and TV Static.

You can grab tickets here if you're interested: Tickets

Cheers :)

Trying to pick a spot for a Tuesday night date that has decent drinks and something to do besides just sitting at a table : Coin-Op, Underground Mini Golf, or Tipsy Putt ?

Trying to pick a spot for a Tuesday night date that has decent drinks and something to do besides just sitting at a table. I narrowed it down to Coin-Op, Underground Mini Golf, or Tipsy Putt. I like the idea of the tabletop golf at Tipsy Putt because it seems easier to actually talk while playing, but I heard the main course is pretty basic. Coin-Op gets loud, and I haven't been to Underground in years. If we just want a solid hour of playing something and splitting a $20 round of drinks before getting real dinner elsewhere, which one is the best call?

Would anyone in Sacramento be interested in letting us set them up on a date?

I’ve always thought one of the strangest parts of dating apps is trying to come up with the perfect opening message for someone you’ve never met.
Then you spend days texting a stranger, trying to keep the conversation going, and sometimes you never even meet.
I’d rather just go get coffee, have lunch, or share a nice dinner with someone. If it works out, great. If it doesn’t, that’s okay too. At least you met someone and had a real conversation instead of spending another week thinking about what to text.
So we’re experimenting with a different approach in Sacramento.
We’re a small team, but we’re genuinely really good at matchmaking. There is no algorithm selecting dates. Every introduction is hand-selected by an actual person on our team.
Someone will personally review your profile, preferences, personality, and pictures, then look through the other participants to find someone we think would be a good date for you.
When we find someone, we’ll send you a date invitation. You can decline as many invitations as you want for free. You would only pay if you accept the invitation, the other person accepts too, and you both decide to go on the date.
This is still an experiment, so we’re looking for people who are open to trying it and giving us honest feedback.
If you’re interested, send me a DM with your email address and I’ll send you the form to complete so we can include you.
