I have a big garden that gets hand watered and I travel for a week every few months. My plants are my passion and my profession. I have hundreds of potted plants and a sizable wildflower area. I’ve had terrible luck with finding someone who can water my garden well. Every time I come home, there are plants that are dead or dying. It’s not that hard but it does require some competence.

I’m looking for someone who can follow directions well and come on Thursdays and Sundays. I would give you a walkthrough to show you how to do it that will double as an interview. If everything looks good when I get back, this can become a regular thing. I have clients who also need their plants watered and I can pay you more per visit for doing those if you’re interested.

If this sounds like something you’d want to do, DM me and write something to convince me that you’re probably better at watering plants than the last guys I had do it.

Our crew was beyond excited to share this special experience last night with our guests on the sunset cruise: a pod of orcas WITH A BABY! Orcas are a rare sighting in San Diego, but we do get treated a few times a year. This was an epic way to round out our weekend and truly an experience we will never forget! Taskmaster series 22 starts on Thursday! I always make an evening of it for myself but thought it might be fun to host the occasional watch party, if anyone is interested?

I figured I’ll probably start it around d 6-6:30. Since it’s on YouTube, the time can be relatively flexible. My back porch is basically my living room and the weather is temperate for a change, so we’ll set up out there.

If you’re also one of the people who was interested in Lorcana, I’d also be happy to play a few games or teach you how to play.

I’m really looking to expand my social circle, but social anxiety is a bitch. So I’m trying for a home field advantage kind of thing.

Remy is returning to rescue and will be available for meeting/adoption soon. He was rescued from a euth list several years ago by Grandma Betty’s Animal Rescue and has had two adopters but it didn’t work out. He is a bit older and has needs/boundaries that should be discussed with the rescue if you’re interested (Grandma Betty’s Animal Rescue in Julian, CA). He is potty trained, fixed, not a huge fan of walks and seems afraid of large open spaces/loud noises. He has no separation anxiety and requires medication for seizures. My girlfriend works in Point Loma/Midway and a few individuals have been disrespectful and aggressive, she has not provoked or associated with them in any way, and states they have been rowdy and made her coworkers uncomfortable on multiple occasions and now they have done $7k+ worth of damage to her car. The perpetrator stomped a huge dent into the back of her car even leaving a footprint behind at 1am on friday. She had saved up and was finally able to get an old school she's been dreaming of for years and within a month an insecure individual had to ruin it. I want to settle this out of court by recouping the money and give him a chance to redeem himself before pressing charges. If he cannot pay we will have to have him arrested for grand vandalism.

My girlfriend has not associated with these men and they are essentially strangers to her which makes this an unprovoked attack. She says they typically come in a group of a few guys, one of whom drives a white BMW. The main perpetrator is around 5'11 maybe 6ft. Skinny with a slight gut and Latino. He has a squared off hairline, very prominent eyebrows and close together eyes, an angular face and a very dark mustache and goatee combo. He left a print on the back of the car with his foot and was wearing crocs shoes on the night it happened with white skinny jeans and a graphic shirt. One of his friends is much larger than him and also Latino with the same kind of haircut so they do stand out.

If anyone knows this guy or has had issues with a group of men that fit this description in this area I would appreciate if you reach out. My girlfriend is going to retrieve more footage hopefully tonight and see if she can get more clear shots and angles of him to post. We will edit and update with information as we get it.

Would love to hear from people who faced this choice with young kids. We’re in the North Park area and really like the walkability, restaurants/activities, central location and general neighborhood feel. Our kids are still young (the eldest just started kindergarten) and we’re very happy with the elementary school, although the middle school and high school aren't as highly rated for us. As they get older, though, we’re debating whether we should stay or move towards North County (e.g. areas such as University City, Carmel Valley, Del Mar, Torrey Pines, Solana Beach, Encinitas, etc.) mainly for schools, more space, the family environment and all the other pros of the suburbs.

For those who left central San Diego for North County, are you happy you did? What got better, and what do you miss?

My yard is producing more passionfruit and avocados than I know what to do with. The avocados aren’t quite ready for picking yet, but here’s a bowl of passionfruit that I simply picked up off the ground. This is only what I felt comfy salvaging, though I’m sure there were more viable fruit, and there’s still a ton on the vine.

Anyone want to trade fruit or fruit good? I may try my hand at making some fruit butter or preserves with some of this, but I can’t imagine using it all. I’m happy to trade fruit and whatever I make with it if you’ve got some baked goods you really want to try but don’t want them hanging out around. Not interested in homemade bread, even though I love it.

San Diego County supervisors propose new sewage treatment system to combat Tijuana River pollution crisis

Two San Diego County supervisors unveiled a plan to tackle the Tijuana River sewage crisis, a long-standing issue with significant environmental and health implications. Supervisors Tara Lawson-Remer and Paloma Aguirre introduced their initiative aimed at constructing a new sewage treatment system on the U.S. side of the border during a press conference Monday.

For years, Mexican authorities have faced pressure to manage sewage that seeps into local waterways, yet existing infrastructure has not prevented pollution from impacting communities. Lawson-Remer emphasized the urgency, stating, “We can not keep talking about this.” She and Aguirre hope their proposal will transform the management of raw sewage entering the ocean.

Currently, infrastructure on both sides of the border designed to contain sewage in Mexico has not sufficiently addressed the problem. As Aguirre pointed out, “we can't control what happens across the border - but we can control what happens on our side of it.” The current systems are failing to capture all sewage, which contributes to polluted water and compromised air quality in San Diego.

The newly proposed Tijuana River Capture and Cleanup Initiative is a phased, county-led effort. However, the first step is securing a vote on the proposal during Tuesday's board meeting. If approved, the supervisors aim to pursue state emergency declarations to expedite the permitting process and identify funding sources.

“We won’t continue to punt this to anyone else while we have kids getting sick on a daily basis,” Aguirre declared. The initial phase of the initiative, with a planning process estimated at 18 months, is backed by $1.8 million already allocated in this year’s budget.

Hi! I have a 1 year old and wanted to get recommendations for preschools. We live in Mira Mesa but are willing to drive 20-25 minutes.

We are considering moving in the future and would love recommendations for good elementary schools as well. We do like central San Diego area like Del Cerro or nearby (prefer an area with bigger lots/backyard).

The horned lark is a small song bird that favors open terrain. The females lay their eggs on open terrain in shallow cups, usually near clumps of weeds. They're not threatened, but their habitat can be especially difficult when people are not careful. They do share habitat with endangered birds like the least tern and savannah sparrow.

This little guy lives in OB, and their preferred terrain borders the dog park. Far too many people let their dogs run past the giant signs that say the land is protected, and it definitely disturbs the population. I think they're gorgeous little friends, and we should encourage those around us to be a little more careful with their pets. I saw a guy cross the channel and throw a ball straight into the protected reserve, where his dog ran, and promptly took a dump. Don't get me started on the number of bags of dog shit just left for other people to pick up.

Rant over. Beautiful bird. If you're walking in the dog park going East, they're just on the right in the dunes. You can often see them in the first dune there, and they'll basically be at eye level. They're only 6 inches tall and weigh about an ounce and a half. I suggest taking the time to watch them do their thing. They're super cute.

Hoping for something closer to Miramar/Kearny Mesa since a lot of shops are there.

Will likely need tig welding and I prefer a shop that works on higher end cars that will remove the wheel to repair and repaint so it's done properly. So, no mobile places.

I know of American Factory Wheel in Santee, but hoping for something closer to home to make drop off and pick up easier.
