Help Needed With My Rail Signals

Post image
Upvotes

I'm starting to fill in my Phase 4 factories and built a 2-way rail loop around the dune desert. Now I'm adding rail stations for the factories and I'm running into a problem. This is how I'm currently placing my signals (with signals also at every endpoint seen here). The rail stations are placed at the top, with entrance on the right (see the arrows for direction of travel).

My problem is that trains can't simply pass each other because they share a block. What's the most effective way to resolve this?

How to get ADA collectible voicelines to play for whole server?

Upvotes

I play in a multiplayer server with a group of 3 other friends and it's usually my task to gather mercer spheres.

Unfortunately, the ADA voicelines only play for the person collecting the spheres. They aren't recorded onto anybody's inbox other than my own, and playing from my inbox only plays it back for me. They are often funny, and are the closest thing to lorethis game has.

Is there any way (vanilla or modded) that I can play these voicelines in game for friends? Preferably when I collect them, but playing them after the fact is also fine. I just hate being the only person hearing the conversations!

People only post pictures of their super big awesome well organized factories, and I don't blame them for flexing, but its depressing to compare them with what I've done! This scene is from a section I'm working up the courage to re-build, but until then, I would appreciate it if you could share pics of any deep dark secret spaghetti factories your using. Thanks!

Bug Batteries break the game

Hey, I added a blueprint of batteries to my world (64 batteries) and my game is stuck at 7fps regardless of whether I am looking at the batteries or not.

Tried all the tricks online, the Z buffer setting, waiting for the batteries to fill, restarting the game countless times.

I messed with a bunch of settings, from trying experimental Vulkan to testing under Linux vs Windows. In all cases the game was pretty much stuck at 7fps.

I have an AMD 9070xt. I've reverted to a previous save and will not use batteries in my playthrough.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Phase 4 - Bus galore

I had enough of having to belt stuff here and there and being it tied up, so i tried a bus system, and even tho i haven't played factorio before, i think i got the hang of it. got it abit cleaner than usual. Phase 4 is nearly done, and i'll just let it gather up as much items needed for Phase 5, then disassemble this, and change it over to normal item production

Feature Request: More node info in map

We currently have claimed and purity level.

Once claimed, it would be amazing to have stats on the node output: units/min, efficiency %, clock speed, other? Basically the info you would see by walking up to the miner and viewing it (which becomes unpractical as you claim more, further nodes).

Could be MAM unlocked and/or require a radar tower to not overwhelm newer players.

Is there a mod for this already?

How do you put this thing on the floor? It just sort of floats in mid-air, LOL.

Edit: Worked it out. You have to crouch.

As the pictures show, I have a wall pipe connector, the one pipe has liquid, the second pipe gets ZERO LIQUID! Please tell me it's a known issue with a known fix. It's off the ground but I have a pump with enough headlift.

Discussion In what area in the game are you lacking in the most?

Mine would be on using trains. I just don't use them. They seem overwhelming and give me anxiety. Ive tried watching guides and that didnt help. I spend most of my time now in creative mode learning to design blueprints better and trying to figure out my building "esthetic" style. But i know i have to use trains eventually.....i just keep putting it off

Just unlocked the train for the first time, I get the gist of it but I’m confused on why it’s derailing on straight a ways. I have wild curves that it doesn’t derail on so I’m so confused

How does big factories look like and function

I am still a begginer kinda still space phase 3 , i really want to know how does big / mega factories look like ? Are it like far away from each other small factories each built for crafting specific items and all the output from thee small factories gets transported ( via train or whatver ) to a big storage system? Or one big factory and the raw materials gets transported to the big factory and the storage is there too , am really excited to do these big factories the idea seems so interesting to me , Sry for bad eng !(

Help Yellow Map Markers?

Unfortunately don't have a SS rn but about halfway through playing yesterday, saved the game, logged off for an hour, game back and loaded in, but the loading FICSIT banner was stuck on my screen. Managed so save again just in case (might have been what screwed me here but idk) and loaded back in.

Banner was gone but all my map symbols have a yellow hue to them now? Happens in a friends world too when I joined, so not just my save.

I'm on steam if that matters. Looked it up and saw people had the same problem a while ago but no real fix

Question Old save file from the game that was still in early access.

This is an old save file from early access or a little later, which works with the new version. (I walked around the map and everything was active, except that the monsters I killed were restored, but I'll kill them again. I like it. I got to the point of building plastic things.)

I forgot everything.

I'd like to ask:

1) What do you recommend I do first?

Where should I start over? Which menu should I look at?

2) There are mods that summarize how much electricity I produce or how many batteries I have, and something similar for all the factories, which I obviously put in a very haphazard way.

3) Less importantly, how do you manage to keep up with the little man with the cup in his hand, who almost flies (if I saw correctly).

Thanks in advance to anyone who will have the patience to answer me.

How did I do???

Just passed the meager 27 hour mark...... definitely enjoying the game but wow did I struggle with fluid setup for my charcoal power plant setup. Thought I had everything good, turned it all on and the water was not flowing. Racked my brain went over everything step by step, pipe by pipe. Finally I decided to remove holding tanks I had on the upper pipes and it all started moving!

I guess holding tanks should be on level ground with the water pumps??

What a headache though!! Producing 35% more power then currently needed, which means time for expansion....spaghetti madness here I come.

Hope fully OK for me to post here too. Been a haul, and want to share.
2km x 2km floating main belt stack with elevator at the center, with 4km outer to hold radar towers. Foundations are as low as I could get with this perimeter, and stay flat. No trains, trucks, coal power or nuclear. Also, I'm sure I missed it, but I haven't seen anyone do vertical belts. Filter spiral, because I've put things on the wrong belts too often, and one sink for every ten belt overflows (gets clogged otherwise). Point and laugh, but it's been my happy place for a long while. I'm sure I'll be back, but this pioneer has constructed her last for a while.

EDIT: Most have probably moved on, but if you see... Thank You! Finishing left a bit of hole in me, and interacting with all of you... Felt really good! I hope you all Save the Day!

Question Don't know how to plan forward

Hi to all you experienced pioneers. I have 80 hours in my first playthrough by now and I had much fun, but I'm not sure, how to move on. I'm in the third phase of the space elevator and I'm finished with Versatile Framework. But I'm lost with planning the production of the Adaptive Control Unit.

Until now, I always planned exactly for my needs. For example, I'v build a factory for Enforced Iron Plates, thats self reliant. Iron Ore goes in in the one side and plates come out on the other. The same goes for Versatile Framework, Motors or Encased Industrial Beams. The products needed for these are produced in the same factory in exactly the right amount for the desired output. I'm unsure, if I should build new factories in the same way for Adaptive Control Units or dedicated smaller factories for steel (pipes, beams and encased), electronics etc to funnel these products to the more advanced factories. These smaller factories could be planned to overproduce, so I get also a stockpile of these products and don't use them all.

I think the second option is better scalable, but I'm afraid, I have to tear down large parts of my world and redo everything. Kind of overwhelming right now. Any advice on how to approach this?

Getting a bit overwhelmed now I've reached steel production

30 hours in, I've rebuilt my original factories to maximise output with mk 2 miners, not a single ingot wasted in production of reinforced iron plates, rotors, iron plates, iron rods, wire, cables and copper sheets. Industrial storages are filled to the brim and now those factories exist to just pump into the sink.

I've built a coal power plant, I've built a steel plant that makes beams and steel pipes, same thing, just pumping into the sink.

This is where I've gotten overwhelmed, producing parts that require parts from those factories. Am I supposed to try and transport those finished goods into new factories? Do I build new factories for the new parts (like enclosed industrial beams) that manufacture those original parts all over again? Do I send all earlier tier parts into a localised storage and pull from that to supply the new factories?
