does shiny charm in b2w2 make a big difference? is it enough of a difference that its worth my time completing the dex before bank shutdown to get more shinies in b2w2?

It increases your shiny odds from 1/8192 to ~1/2731, making them 3 times more common.

This means that in theory if you hunt for the same amount of time with charm and without charm you are expected to find about 3 times as many shinies using the charm as without. In practice your mileage may vary since with a smaller sample size you're more likely to see higher variance, but that is the average result.

Whether that is worth completing a 600-odd strong pokedex is up to you, I'm afraid I can't make that decision for you.

if i've already unlocked the roaming dogs in hgss, is there a way i can knock them out to shinyhunt them later? or are they always permanently set once released

Technically, you can hunt the beasts after releasing them, but I don’t recommend it. You have to knock them out, then rematch the elite 4 for them to respawn. Their stats and shininess get rerolled every time you knock them out and respawn them by beating the league

What handheld is everyone using to play? Am I seeing a lot of 3Ds? Or are there also newer handheld that are being used to emulate? If I want to get into pokemon, any recommendations?

An iPhone can go up to Gen 5 with no trouble.

If you go for 3DS, see [3DS Pokémon Guide v4.0](https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/s/R2oYTouIbA) - A (mostly) complete guide to getting every mainline Pokémon Game Gen 1-7 onto your 3DS, migrating them from/to any game, and hacking.

I have android, but i love the dual screen small handheld and never had a small handheld as a child. I had a ds! So I looked at newer handheld especially for the newest gen games (all all prior gens) to play

Nothing beats a 3DS imo

Depends on your needs honestly. With physical cartridges for the most access, I'd say a DS lite for GBA/DS games or a 3DS / 2DS for DS / 3DS games

If you dont care too much about hacking your devices a 3DS/2DS absolutely is the best option since you get gen 1 & 2 VC, DS & 3DS games and even though they were never released for 3DS you can easily get GBA games on it still

As for the specific model, new 3DS's / 2DS's (new the model, not condition of the console) are the better but more expensive option. Older can still work fine but it'll struggle with gen 7 especially due to just performance

In sword and shield DA’s is a phase considered each run fail or success or just if u beat the boss and get the shiny check?

A phase is getting a shiny other than your target. In DAs you can avoid it by just not catching the raid encounters other than your target(s)

Hi there, I've been doing a shiny hunt for Cherubi in pokemon platinum and pearl. I caught a cute charm male clefairy to try and get a female cherubi, just for preference. I just hit full odds and I only now learned about the cute charm glitch. I get that it needs setup, but is there any risk to my shiny odds if its not set up? Like have I ruined my shiny odds by accident just for using the ability as intended? Any insight would be appreciated _^

Note: No, i have not setup the glitch to lower odds in any way. I want the shiny hunt at 1/8192 odds. I just would prefer a female cherubi

So the way cute charm is broken in gen 4 is that when it procs it forces a pokemons personality value to be 1/25 possible values for each gender. If those personality values can't be shiny for your trainer id and secret id your shiny hunting odds are effectively 1/24576 since the pokemon can only roll a shiny when it doesn't proc.

Since you've hit regular odds without seeing a shiny this is most likely the case and cute charm is actively making it harder to find a shiny and isn't even helping find a female shiny since you can only find a shiny when it fails to proc.

Sadly this means you'll have to roll the 50% chance of it being female.

I'm currently hunting Celebi on 3ds, and doing resets via button combo. Should I switch to screen resets? There are few posts about the differences (hard vs soft reset) and I am a bit worried, I'm not rerolling the odds on most efficient way using buttons. Currently still under odds (6001SR)

Odds stay the same but buttons are apparently faster. I personally put elastic bands over the L and R buttons to save having to press them every time

I just got Celebi myself on Sunday in Pokemon Crystal and did screen resets mostly bc it was just easier on my hands. Buttons are definitely faster and the most efficient way in my opinion!

is this a way to circumvent bank shutting down?

switch gba games are confirmed getting home support so cant you do this from gba games and then transfer to home from switch?

i’m starting a pokemon white playthrough and really want to use shiny oshawott as my starter. i’m currently at around 300 soft resets.

would you keep soft resetting or play until the daycare and masuda method one instead? i don’t mind putting time into the hunt and i’d rather do whichever is less tedious tbh :)

Probably a stupid question. But I have been working on shiny origin dexs (at least by region) and was wondering which is faster to finish my USUM dex. SOS or Mesuda? I am almost done but still have some "fun" ones like 2x wimpod, wishiwashi, and toxipex.
