I want to use shutter encoder to encode multiple .png image sequences to individual h.264 .mp4 videos.
I have around 9000 frames rendered as .png that need to be encoded into small videos of around 10 to 200 frames each, depending on the video. The length is different for each one.
What i am currently doing is:
look into my .blend file to see where the current sequence starts and ends
import these frames into shutter encoder
change the prefix to the name of the desired video
encode - wait - repeat step 1
Is there any way to do this faster?
Also: These .png images have transparency in them, that I would like to turn into a flat color of my choice (#EAEFF5FF). Is there a way to do this as well? Sorry if these are easy questions, I am new to shutter encoder.
Previous reports about Shutter Encoder changing its window size and position
I would like to raise this issue again because the same or very similar concerns about Shutter Encoder automatically changing its window size and position have been reported repeatedly over the years.
Personally, I would prefer the application window to remain at a consistent size and position unless the user changes it.
At minimum, I hope there could be an option to disable the automatic resizing behavior and use normal Windows minimization.
For reference, here are some previous reports.
September 2023
“The trouble is the GUI is resizing itself frequently requiring me to constantly move the window around.
If that was a toggle window or a preference I could remove that would be amazing.”
Later in the same discussion:
“Is there any way to adjust the window re-sizing then? so the ‘start function’ and output sections stay locked where they are?
The issue I'm having is that I'm required to now ‘chase’ the GUI around the screen!
It opens to the left underneath my finder window, then I have to chase it around to hit start, then it ‘closes’ back down to the original size and I again have to chase the buttons!
“I’m using the latest version of Windows 11. With all due respect, when encoding starts, the window width is forcibly reduced, and even if I select ‘Minimize,’ it becomes a conspicuous window that’s only partially minimized.
Wouldn’t it be better to fundamentally rethink this strange UI design?”
Since similar feedback has been raised repeatedly since at least 2023, I hope this behavior can be reconsidered as a usability issue rather than simply remaining part of the current interface design.
An option to keep the window size and position fixed would already solve most of the problem for users who do not want the interface to resize automatically.

Hi Paul, I am using Shutter Encoder v20.0 with the MPEG-2 function to create NTSC DVDs. I need to output a single .mpg file, but I need the audio codec to be AC3 instead of the default MP2 for standard hardware compatibility. Since the audio drop-down is locked on MP2 for this function, is there a shortcut or a quick command line variable to force AC3 audio inside the MPEG-2 profile?
Hey Paul, thank you for all you do, shutter encoder is incredible.
When I was working in it today I downloaded a few vids using web video, which was working great but after a few it stopped working. (tried default, bestvideo+audio, etc.). It would run the function, and very quickly go to 100 percent and no file would download.
I ran the update by typing in the url, it updated, but to no avail.
I figured this issue was caused by some Youtube alg protections or something of the sort, but just wondering if you knew of a workaround or anything to solve.
Hi Paul, I've just donated to the Shutterencoder.com site so that I can download the app, but it's been an hour and the Download box still says "Preparing to download". I'm using Navigator browser, downloading to my Macbook Studio OS Sequoia 15.3. People have said online to try downloading from a different browser but copying the site address on Chrome only gives me "You're all done here, you've either completed payment or checkout session has timed out". Please help.
Hello,
I donated for Shutter Encoder 20.2 but the "Donate" option still appears in Settings and when I close the program, I get the QR code to donate (?!).
Is this normal? Shouldn't I have gotten rid of the QR code at least?
If the answer is positive, was I supposed to do something and I didn't?
Thank you.
After converting an HDR10/Dolby Vision video to SDR BT.709, the resulting file still contains SMPTE ST 2086 (Mastering Display Metadata), MaxCLL and MaxFALL. Since the video has been converted to SDR, shouldn't this HDR metadata be removed?
For example, when converting a 4K HDR BT.2020/ST 2084 video to 1080p SDR BT.709, I would expect the resulting file to contain only the appropriate SDR color information.
For example, this is what MediaInfo reports on one of the converted files:
HDR format: SMPTE ST 2086 Mastering display color primaries: Display P3 Mastering display luminance: min: 0.0001 cd/m², max: 1000 cd/m² Maximum Content Light Level: 468 cd/m² Maximum Frame-Average Light Level: 201 cd/m²
2. Maximum bitrate:
I also noticed that when the bitrate is set to Auto, MediaInfo reports:
Maximum bit rate: 2,000 kb/s
Is this 2,000 kb/s value expected, or could this be related to the encoding settings?
One last thing: could the video track be set as Default in the resulting MKV?
I'm trying to find a way to see if there is a plugin or anything, or an extension, to preserve the original names of the audio tracks when I'm converting them, or just bypass the conversion of the audio tracks
I never got a download link in my email, I bought it yesterday and still nothing. Based on what I’ve seen on this subreddit I’m not the only one who has experienced this. If I could receive some help that would be greatly appreciated.
I have this since 20.2 came out, I don't know what to do.
When I try with cmd, it works but 1 file at a time... I want to, to use Shutter Encoder it's easier.
I looked for a system compatibility chart or system requirements specifically for MacOS for each version but couldn't find anything on the website.
I'm running MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 and Shutter Encoder version 16.3 is installed on my computer. What's the latest SE version that is compatible on Mojave?
Btw, system requirements chart for each version and each OS would be great. Thanks!
Looks like any d/l for certain videos that include audio and video the only format available is WEBM.
When deselecting auto my choices are either video / audio only.
While I'm here, THANK YOU for the brilliant work on this software, easy encoding with no bloat or other nonsense.
Hello, I can import and convert smaller Samsung APV1 files. However, I recently couldn't import a 12 GB file; an error message appeared. Is it not possible to convert larger files using Shutter Codec?
