Well, now I feel a little bad since I had never gone there. Is it any good? Worth shlepping to germantown over?

Can't deny the vibes are great and it's a SS establishment. But the food besides fajitas is not good and drinks are straight up bad.

Cielo Rojo in Takoma has vastly better Mexican food and drinks. All the same, wishing Mi Rancho a speedy return.

I’d agree with you. I have not enjoyed the food there but I like the vibes and will support them because they’re a local establishment.

Depends on whether you're looking for Tex-Mex or authentic Mexican. There's a place for both.

Yeah, it is Tex Mex. Lobster is just one jamoke among the rest of us with an opinion. The food is good for what you would expect and the drinks are perfectly fine.

And you're welcome to your opinion- I don't think you're a jamoke even if we disagree!

They don't hide the pre-made marg mix they use so it's definitely not authentic or unique compared to places in Germantown, which is my primary point.

Lovely people, drinks and atmosphere, but how good you think the food is really depends on your standards and experience of Mexican food outside of this area. My husband and I are from areas with much larger Mexican communities and we’ve been pretty disappointed that we can’t find Mexican food that’s as good as the el Salvadoran food here (we like arepas! But sometimes we crave Mexican!). Mi Rancho sort of scratches an itch, but definitely not enough to drive to Germantown

i'm from the NYC area so my hispanic food exposusure is more Dominican, PR, and Cuban than it is Mexican. But there's a decent amount of Mexicans in/around NYC. I think among the hispanic population Mexicans are a larger percent of the NYC body than the DC one. I have had similar experiences with DC/Baltimore area Mexican - its not bad but its kinda bland and overpriced. I had never had Salvadoran before I came here though!

It's the best Tex Mex in Silver Spring, for whatever that's worth. They make their own tortillas, which are great.

I have very fond memories of watching the tortilla machine as a kid. I hope the damage isn't too bad
