Apartment Recs
Hello everyone!! 👋🏽
My fiancé and I are planning to relocate to Silver Spring from Nashville toward the end of January. We’re both originally from Mississippi and are looking for a 2 bed/2 bath apartment, preferably near Metro or within a 3–5 mile radius.
Our budget is $3,000/month max, and we’d really love a balcony or patio since we have two cats. I’m okay with carpet in the bedrooms, but would prefer hard flooring throughout the rest of the apartment. In-unit laundry and parking would also be a plus!
One thing I’ve noticed while researching is that pest/rodent complaints seem to come up frequently across several apartment communities. I understand every property will have some negative reviews, but seeing similar complaints at multiple places has definitely made me cautious. 😭

Welcome and good to hear that you're interested in SS. Just a tip, your radius of 3-5 miles from a metro station is kind of strange. If you plan on taking metro every day to work, driving 3-5 miles during rush hour will add lots of time to your commute (and of course, you'll then have to pay for parking at the metro station). Your budget seems OK so if you are planning on a metro commute, I think you should try to be closer to metro (preferably walking distance).

This! Aim for within 3-5 blocks of metro, not miles.
And welcome! Living in a city with transit is the best.

I’ve lived in the Glen Haven Ap Community for 11 years. $3,000 will get you a 3-bedroom unit, 1,735 square feet. Utilities included. Good storage and open parking. 2 full bathrooms. Highly recommend. About a mile to the train. DM me for more.

i know people who live in round hill apartments! they’re pretty nice units and the ones i’ve seen have balconies :)

Re: pests, a general tip is you probably don’t want to be on a lower floor of any apartment building. Pests are a hazard of living in an urban area. There are any number of buildings within a few blocks of the silver spring metro where you can get a reasonable sized apartment with in unit laundry and parking for less than $3k though so good luck!

My partner just moved into Thayer & Spring and his unit is infested with roaches, so don’t move there. I’m moving to The Pearl in October and praying for no pests.

welcome to the area! i currently live in solaire 1150 ripley and it pretty much has everything you're asking for - it's pretty much right on top of the metro, has hard flooring in the common areas and carpet in the bedrooms, in-unit laundry, and parking is a little bit on the expensive side at $175 per car. i've lived here with my husband and cat for a year and a half now and have not seen one rodent or pest that wasn't because i left the balcony door open by accident. the staff is friendly, maintenance is on point, and the building as a whole do take community safety pretty seriously. we've lived in a lot of different buildings here over my 10 years here and this is The One for us, for sure.
