Let’s Inspire, Not Compare

I know you’re seeing posts here about things you haven’t tried yet or activities that might not be possible for you to do right now and that’s okay.

There’s no pressure if you haven’t done this or that kind of activity yet, or wherever you may be in your journey at the moment. We all have different timelines, resources, and priorities in life.

Let’s also avoid comparing ourselves or feeling jealous. Instead, let’s celebrate each other’s wins, big or small. ✨

We’ll get there in time.

Just take it one step at a time.

Let’s continue to inspire and uplift one another, friends! 💛

Went to Brussels, Solo. + Hostel Stay = New Friends

Went to Brussels solo and honestly, the best part wasn’t even the sight-seeing. it was the hostel stay! (Yes, napanuod ko na ung hostel 1,2,3 lol)

Met two amazing people at my hostel who made the trip unforgettable:

  • An Italian girl doing her internship in Brussels.
  • An Albanian dude who was traveling on a budget just like me.

We spent hours hanging out, swapping stories, and before we checked out, both of them literally told me: "Next time you visit our country, you're staying at our place!"

It’s crazy how solo travel instantly expands your world and gifts you friends from all over the globe.

P.S. Don't hate me, but... those famous Belgian fries? Straight up tasted like McDo fries to me. Nothing special.

Sometimes I base my entire day around a ramen place when I don't really have a specific spot that I want to visit in my solo travels 😋

Some of my favorite bowls from my visit last in Japan. I almost always go for tsukemen, but I occasionally make an exception for a shoyu when it's really highly rated. The one pictured on the bottom right is Ramen Jazzy Beats.

Just another random bar at a random day of the week at a random time of the day drinking my Old Fashioned.

Someone once asked me, "why drink at a bar alone?" Good Question. Let me explain.

I'm not looking. I'm not searching. I'm not alone either. I have my thoughts to accompany me while I enjoy my drink. Being alone brings me calm and regulates my thoughts.

I hit my 40s. All my life I've been chasing. People. Wealth. Prestige. I've been prioritizing other people, other focus rather than myself. Then I had an epiphany of some sorts while doing therapy. There will be times that choosing yourself first is not selfish. I was raised a Catholic. Years of Catholic schools of monks and nuns had instilled selflessness in me. I thought I should be pleasing and chasing. I was wrong.

My mindset changed. I still love my kids, my best half, my friends but now I learned to love my life more. My own life.

Now I love enjoying quiet drinks at random places, random days, random times just because I can.

So enjoy your time alone. The solo commute. The solo meals. The solo travel. The solo drinking. The solo experience that you should experience in life far from the noise of others. Because at the end of our life we'll always be solo (unless we all perish at the same time. Sorry too morbid). Cheers! To life!

Oh this is another find in the south! Brag House! Just drove around and saw it figure why not? A glass at 2 in the afternoon (close to it), just because I can.

P.S.

I'm not an alcoholic. I just like enjoying a drink by myself just because I can.

for the past year, nasa bahay lang ako and the only time i go out ay grocery or errands (homemaker ako 27y/o for my father and siblings).

i actually feel drained, empty, and floating and i stumbled upon this sub.

what activities would you recommend? i want to feel something and do things for myself.

and how do u deal with not having someone to talk to hahaha i'm an introvert and it's really hard for me to just talk to someone na ako ang mag-initiate. 😅

I’m very grateful for the people I met and the new friends I made. It was definitely a spontaneous and unforgettable trip for me! 🫶

Edit: Hello guys! Since so many people have been asking, I met them all on the app called nomadtable.

It’s for travellers and I think it’s free for girls and for guys I think they need to pay.

The first pic was when we attended a turtle releasing event in Kuta. After that we went to SB and got to know each other.

The second pic was just basically a girl’s night. A girl I met on the app invited me to it so I went.

They’re all a mix of Indonesians, Europeans, Americans, Asians.

Try nyo guys but still since you’re meeting strangers, be careful pa din!
