A VERY brief overview of the Berlin Wall. This does not cover the immense achievements of the GDR(DDR) particularly women's rights or the intense subversion tactics deployed by the West. And before anyone says "but the Stasi!" may I remind you that the FRG had its own secret police, the BND (Bundesnachrichtendienst). More to come on that. Resources in comments.

Lenin had three Silver Ghosts in his garage—two had phaeton bodies, and the third was a limousine. In 1921, the Putilov factory built a special sled for the head of state, based on the Silver Ghost chassis and a body by Continental. It was the only Rolls-Royce-based sled in the world.

Stalin is back! A monument to Academician Ivan Bardin and Joseph Stalin was unveiled in Cherepovets. Governor Filimov immediately declared that "one of the streets in the city of Cherepovets, which is currently in conflict, should be named Stalin Street."

Gagarin and the shoelace. During the ceremonial welcome back to the airfield for Gagarin after his return from space, people noticed that the shoelace on his right shoe was untied. The lace on the Gagarin monument in Bryansk is also untied.

Hi there! I know a lot of soviet songs, but they are generally from SSRR, and it makes me realize that I actually don’t know other musical genres from other republics. For this reason I’d be very interested to know what was popular there, what did you like to listen, maybe you could make me discover some genre’s that were typically from there, or even share with me your favorite songs of this time?
