Announcement Last week we banned u/JediPrincess84 and removed their posts of the Princess Leia cosplayer. Thank you to our members for mentioning their concerns about this member, and we are sorry we didn't do this sooner.

A couple of weeks ago some members or r/Spacegirls raised concerns that u/JediPrincess84 was posting only pictures of a particular cosplayer dressed in the Princess Leia metal bikini outfit, likening it to stalking.

u/JediPrincess84 messaged us saying 'Thank you for reaching out. Anna [Name changed by mods] is popular and featured on numerous Star Wars/cosplay related sites. The pics posted are from public events/they are not bedroom pics and/or "creeper" pics; they're like the other slave Leia cosplayers pics on this subreddit. I believe there is an issue with hyper-sexualizing a certain 'body type' in cosplay, which is unfair, and overzealous internet 'white knights.' I do not want to cause problems though. I have made a new post to demonstrate what I mean. If it is against policy, I will leave on my own. However, consider the philosophy 'like it then "like" it. Don't like it? Move along'

We looked at the posting history of u/JediPrincess84 which was solely the same set of pictures of one particular cosplayer in the Princess Leia costume on various Star Wars subreddits. There was nothing wrong with the posts themselves so we decided to let them stay.

The cosplay model herself then messaged Galimesh and said that:

  • The photos were 14 years old.
  • u/JediPrincess84 has been doing this for several years.
  • She didn't want her workplace or family seeing these posts.
  • u/JediPrincess84 has pretended to be her, has photoshopped her Princess Leia pics into compromising situations, and has written stories about her she described as 'disgusting'.

She asked us to remove the posts and to ban the user, which we have done.

We should have listened to some of our members earlier. We are sorry for the delay in removing the offending posts, and for any harm done or any offence taken.

In future we will try to improve our performance and to pay more attention to our members' concerns.

Thank you,

Galimesh,

klystron

EDIT: The user's name is u/JediPrincess1984, not JediPrincess84, as I wrote earlier. He has deleted his account.
