Pvp vanguard is what i want pve vanguard to be
3 stack abilities
Low cooldown
Hang on walls (mobility)
69
u/Nathero Jul 28 '26
Bro the fact the vanguard isnt like that in PVE irks me, HERESY I SAY
3
u/Living-Dirt3410 Jul 28 '26
Lol the PvE side of the game is held together by corpse starch and faith. I could see a vanguard just getting stuck on majoris and all sorts of silly things lol
1
u/Nice_Promotion8576 Ultramarines Jul 28 '26
Yeah the wall targeting would honestly be more of a nerf cause imagine having to fight between trying to grapple an enemy and the game trying to make you grab onto a wall.

u/PacoThePersian Jul 28 '26
"We understand that a lot of you wanted it to be a burning blade, but only Guilliman gets to wield one."
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
147
u/CreamPuzzleheaded300 Jul 28 '26
I like the joke, but I will admit from a video game visual design stance, having a sword that looks like its does fire damage, but having it not do fire damage is a bit of a head scratcher.
61
u/WestLUL Crimson Fists Jul 28 '26
Seems like papa GW personally intervened to prevent this from happening.
17
u/Koward_1601 Salamanders Jul 28 '26
Of course they did, the Salamanders swords are not burning blades after all
-3
27
u/Sir_Schnee Dark Angels Jul 28 '26
That means they aren’t allowed right?
33
u/douglasduck104 Jul 28 '26
"GW said no" is such a useful get-out clause, if somewhat annoying at times.
I did wonder if actual flaming power swords exist in the lore.
35
u/StableManticorePilot Jul 28 '26
They do not. The fact that they're power swords kinda preempts any additional bonus them being on fire might confer anyway.
7
u/thisremindsmeofbacon Jul 28 '26
Any lore heads here, is this actually how it is in the lore? zero imperium flaming power swords except the big one?
18
u/peanutbuttercult Jul 28 '26
While there’s too much lore to formally rule it out, I have never personally heard of a flaming power sword wielded by any other human. Power swords in the lore are pretty universally metallic with a crackling lightning effect like we see in the game.
Hobbyists go absolutely wild with them all the time though.
7
u/Sivuel Jul 28 '26
"The Burning Blade" used to be an artifact in 6th-8th edition Space Marine codices. I'm pretty sure one or two Sisters of Battle characters have fire effects on their swords too, but they play by different rules.

"Something we should have done a long time ago coming in patch 15" pogging so hard rn
35
u/Threelium Jul 28 '26
Apparently kraken penetetrator no longer affects burn/grenade launcher (in the general fixes section).
It makes sense, but I'll miss it. Wonder if it still applies to heroic plasma pistol.
15
u/BumblebeeWorldly4594 Jul 28 '26
Fixed as well.
9
u/Threelium Jul 28 '26
Truly the Emperor saves his toughest battles for his bravest soldiers, and tactical is very very brave (also still probably the strongest class).
Thanks for checking!

But surely I, Sigismund should get to wield one?

Loading Optimization.
Does this mean reduced load times?

u/Primalblu Deathwatch Jul 28 '26
I swear I think they say this every update and it never gets any better, at least in my experience it hasn’t gotten WORSE

u/AntaresDestiny Death Company Jul 28 '26
So the "Fixed ammo refill for flamer barrel" is a goddamn lie, neither Tac's emperors vengeance or snipers Verstile Precision regen ammo for the flamer at all.
8
u/Bassline660 Jul 28 '26
It only works when I pick up a ammo box... I'd prefer a bit more ammo capacity esp when using on Vanguard
13
u/Kaleon Jul 28 '26
It might use the same logic as the grenade bolt rifle, so that only ammo boxes refill it.
10
u/AntaresDestiny Death Company Jul 28 '26
The grenade bolt rifle, combi melta and grenade HBR get ammo from emperors vengeance, if that is not the case anymore they have been stealth nerfed.
13
u/Dahvoun Dark Angels Jul 28 '26
Wait why is Tactical getting a rework? Isn’t it one of the best classes in the game? Doesn’t it have some of the most build diversity too?
2
u/FoxHoundXL Jul 28 '26
They want to give tactical the option for a Melee focused Build outside of just Battle Focus and Heightened Vigor.
14
u/DisillusionedHobbit Jul 28 '26
Not needed IMO.
I won’t complain if it means we get power sword on tac tho.
10
u/Korochun Jul 28 '26
lol
They're just gonna nerf Tac. It's sweet of you to expect a 'rework' though.
6
u/Ninjazoule Jul 28 '26
This, unfortunately. I doubt we're ever seeing a power sword, and tac has pretty much just seen nerfs as time goes on (nade launcher, plasma, now flamer)
2
u/Korochun Jul 28 '26
I wouldn't say Flamer was really nerfed, in fact I hardly ever auspexed for the fire stacks before, I only bothered to do so for the Heroic Plasma Pistol shot. It's still Tac's strongest choice.
But it's clear that "reworking" a class that's well liked and played constantly with no complaints is just them saying they're going to nerf it.
1
u/Ninjazoule Jul 28 '26
I have, it was extremely strong. The flame DoT is the main damage and you can't even really buff it with the ranged damage increase perk so this kinda sucks. I guess it's back to chaining headshots on the regular bolter.
Yeah I have no doubt it'll be a nerf, this isnt a game where they buff things because it's fun.
4
u/Korochun Jul 28 '26
What do you mean? The flame dot is perfectly fine even without auspex. You can run it perkless at class level 1 and it's still Tac's strongest weapon.
0
u/Ninjazoule Jul 28 '26 edited Jul 28 '26
It's still pretty good, I'm not saying it's useless lol
That's a rather massive damage nerf that it's probably best to not use the flamer against amped terminus and the like
I'll have to test it out later and see how glacial a carnifex, etc. is.
There's a fair amount of weapons (or even perks) that could use a buff over nerfing what's out there.
1
u/Korochun Jul 28 '26 edited Jul 28 '26
Flamer damage scales with difficulty level, so it's still the best weapon to use against amped terminus and such. It's what makes it so strong. There is still no contest compared to just about any other Tac primary for boss killing.

u/Dahvoun Dark Angels Jul 28 '26
I would be fine with a “nerf” if Auspex scan is used outside of just nuking bosses/extremis. Imagine being able to refund Auspex ability based on the amount of minoris tagged, at a cost to overall damage/recharge time. There’s just so many possibilities they could go. I feel like his core perks are really well designed but his gear perks could use a slight refresh.
1
u/Ninjazoule Jul 28 '26
Yeah you kind of get punished if you're not saving it for extremis/terminus unless there's perks in play where you can afford to just scan majoris.
I find the damage isn't super spectacular unless you're really going in on the damage increases (at a cost, like if they leave the circle).
Edit: obviously I'm using absolute/hard strats as the bar here. It doesn't matter what you run at say ruthless

u/Flumagalath Jul 28 '26
The PvP challenges for the new unlocks HAVE to be adjusted. 500 melee kills? As one of the few who actually enjoys PvP people engaging in melee is not common. The only class that does is assault.
3
u/Greyjack00 Jul 28 '26
It is literally more effective to just unload your bolter in someone's face for some classes than to tap the melee button.

u/Dr_Simpai Salamanders Jul 28 '26
How good is the Heroic bolt pistol now? I haven’t played since the Salamanders pack
4
u/Ninjazoule Jul 28 '26
It was good before, I just don't like how bad it's accuracy is compared to the normal HBP
2
u/Dr_Simpai Salamanders Jul 28 '26
That’s how I was when I used to play too. Does the regular BP perform better? Or are you still a fan of the HBP? And do you like the Heroic HPB or the regular HPB better?
4
u/Ninjazoule Jul 28 '26
I'm still a fan of the regular HBP (although I do prefer plasma overall).
It's fairly easy to stop a wave call normally and usually it's nbd if it does, but ill bring the heroic if said call brings extremis lol.
Heroic is probably better but the regular gives better situational flexibility with its better accuracy imo

u/Dr_Simpai Salamanders Jul 28 '26 edited Jul 28 '26
See I like plasma too, but I like having range for the flying fuck heads. But also sometimes Plasmas aim feels weird to me. Thanks for the info!

The bugged powersword that buffed heavy attack after light attack was 10 times better than this light attack bullshit.
4
u/PuzzleheadedJob6299 Jul 28 '26
That's cope, this will go nuts on bulwark,
1
u/Bobah_0451 Jul 29 '26
Yeah I tried it in real game, it's not that bad, you can parry light attack rake gunstrike majoris into execution.
2
u/Gcoupe37s Jul 28 '26
Im just getting back into the game since launch. Should i use my Accalades for one of these weapons or one thats already out? I'm playing tactical mostly.
3
u/Internal_Gap5124 Jul 28 '26
I believe the deathwatch heavy bolt rifle is considered a top tier pick for tactical. Buy that first.
2
u/Gcoupe37s Jul 28 '26
ok cool thanks ill look into it.
1
u/ImSoLuckyz Jul 28 '26
I would also recommend looking into the Heroic Knife 'Argent Edge,' for your 2nd purchase as it is very good on Tactical, while also being considered by many to be one of the best Heroics currently available.
2
u/Hiepnotiq Definitely not the Inquisition Jul 28 '26 edited Jul 28 '26
Holy hell, I ran into my first new Sorc baddie on the hard Strat Purg, I decimated us, I was gonna shot through walls while getting blasted by rockets too.
Edit adding to my post:
I tried out the new ranged melta on my Vanguard, it was extremely underwhelming. Hard to arm and pathetic dmg, the charge time is incredibly long so it really slowed down how my Vanguard Melta generally plays.
2
u/Wolfermen Jul 28 '26
If Squad Unity and Split Up fix holds, it is a bigger improvement to my gameplay than anything else. Huzzaah! For the Big E!

Nice that Heavy got a cool champion skin, but this update offers nothing for how Heavy plays (perks, weapons, etc)
1
u/zacharylop Jul 28 '26
Why the "rework" to tactical? What happened to focusing on Vanguard and Heavy
1
u/zacharylop Jul 28 '26
Idk if its just me but tried new melta on true solo as vanguard and it is awful
1
u/Freedom_675 Jul 28 '26
Hot take they need to take that fuck ass new boss out of operations he's so insanely overpowered and with dumbass randoms he's gonna end so many runs and make a lot of people rage quit.
-1
u/G_Kenob1 Jul 28 '26
They are pushing PvP and I like It, because It Seems that the chaos SIEGE mode mode will be a reality and making palyers want to PvP more Will give them access to the champion skins easier.

u/PuzzleheadedJob6299 Jul 28 '26
These people are amazing, genuinely, I have not been playing since the beginning, i have only started playing in December last year, but ever since then they did not miss with any of these updates, these guys are GOAT's in my books

"Ability charge cooldown is increased from 12 to 16 seconds
🟡Fully reverted change from PTS: Ground Pound charge aim max angle is reduced from 50 to 38 degrees "
Oh for fuck sake. Assault obnoxious as hell to fight against on so many of the maps. Should've kept the degree nerf
1
u/Whatsit-Tooya Jul 28 '26
Still happy for a nerf. Assault is just oppressive. Way too easy to jump up and drop a melta or just double jump ground pound. Curious about the Vanguard buffs. They were the most obnoxious class on release so seeing their ability get buffed worries me. Super happy about the random teams since that was the biggest issue overall imo.

u/Anby_Thighs Jul 28 '26
Lore-wise salamanders' blades don't really set things on fire, idk why people are so obsessed with that.
8
u/Berhadian Space Wolves Jul 28 '26
Because it would be fucking cool to have a flaming sword that sets things on fire?
2
u/alphamond0 Jul 28 '26
We aren't playing as Girlyman, so no Emperor's sword fire damage for us lowly pleb marines
1
u/Nhig Jul 28 '26
The look on Tzeentch’s face when I grant Kairos a true death by shanking him with a oil-covered burning screwdriver
1
u/Anby_Thighs Jul 28 '26
Lore-wise there aren't really any flaming swords outside of guilliman's sword(previously the Emperor's) and maybe Castellan Crowe's demon sword, so we would have to go into "made-the-fuck-up" territory to give marines a flaming sword which GW 100% wouldn't allow.
Even the salamander's molten blades haven't explicitly been mentioned in lore, it's only been shown in artworks and painted on minis as an aesthetic choice, and they definitely aren't on fire.
2
u/Majestic-Beyond-2541 Space Wolves Jul 28 '26
Tbf, I would’ve liked a visual burning effect on the blade to signal the perk activation without adding a burn status effect. But oh well.
2
u/StriderZessei Blood Angels Jul 28 '26

u/Anby_Thighs Jul 28 '26
It's a molten sword, not a burning sword like Guilliman's. Lore-wise it's never really been explained and has never set anyone on fire either.
I'd expect it to just cause a lot of thermal damage at the point of contact when cutting something, if it even touches the material after the power field around it slices the object anyway.
It's really just an aesthetic thing and while painting molten swords I've never imagined them to set things on fire. Maybe if you cut a highly flammable material like a tree I guess.
-1
u/karer3is Assault Jul 28 '26
They can say that all they want, but they kind of shot themselves in the foot when they made a power sword themed after the fire themed faction. That sets certain expectations and Heroics should be the kinds of weapons that have these "party tricks"

This is the last patch for Year 2, yes. Patch 15 will introduce Year 3, probably in September/October.
