💫 Sharing is Caring 💫 Learn in a Room: Turn Real Objects into Language Lessons with Spectacles

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Learn in a Room is an AR language-learning experience for Spectacles.

Choose French, Italian, Spanish, or German, then point at any object around you. Computer Vision recognizes the object and translates its name. The app creates a vocabulary card next to the real object, helping you learn words in context.

You can practice pronunciation with voice recognition, type answers using the AR keyboard, hear pronunciation through OpenAI TTS, review saved words, and track daily progress. Your vocabulary cards and their spatial positions are saved locally between sessions.

The entire Lens can be used with one hand to make it more inclusive and easier to use. Two-handed gestures are great, but I wanted this experience to remain as simple and accessible as possible.

I also created this project as open-source for both:

SPECS 2027 - https://github.com/maximkuzlin/learn-in-a-room

Spectacles 2024 - https://github.com/maximkuzlin/learn-in-a-room-2024

And if you're lucky enough to have Spectacles 2025 you can test it here: https://www.spectacles.com/lens/12f0905349b74965bf7f17d8070f9d66
