Lens Update! ArtGuide Update: Generate 2D & 3D References, AI Feedback & Voice Tutoring
I know ArtGuide just launched, but I couldn't wait to drop a major update!
You can now generate 3D still-life references and project them straight onto paper, create reference images on the fly, and get real-time AI feedback. Plus, I've added a voice tutor and a brand-new guided tutorial to help first-time users dive right in.

ArtGuide is a spatial drawing and composition assistant for Specs that places accurate guides, references, and creative tools directly onto a real sheet of paper, canvas, wall, tabletop, or easel.
Artists can select from common international, American, watercolor-paper, and canvas sizes—including A2–A6, Letter, Legal, Tabloid, popular inch-based canvases, and standard proportions. They can also draw a completely custom format by tracing their own surface. ArtGuide detects the surface, preserves its real dimensions and proportions, and provides controls for repositioning, rotating, tilting, banking, resizing, and fine alignment.
The experience includes 30 instructional composition guides:
- Foundations: Rule of Thirds, Golden Ratio, Golden Spiral, Quadrants, Diagonal Method, Dynamic Symmetry, Golden Triangle, and Scaling Grid.
- Format-based construction: Nested Halves, Root Rectangle, and Rabatment.
- Visual flow and emphasis: S-Curve, Radial Burst, Steelyard, Concentric Rings, Horizon Ratios, and Rule of Odds.
- Perspective: One-Point Perspective, One-Point Room, One-Point Depth, Two-Point Perspective, and Three-Point Perspective.
- Design principles: Alignment, Visual Balance, Visual Hierarchy, White Space, Rhythm, Movement, Emphasis, and Proximity.
Each guide is adapted to the physical proportions of the selected surface rather than being stretched as a generic overlay. Adjustable guides—such as perspective, grids, and radial compositions—include controls for vanishing points, horizon position, divisions, opacity, rotation, and visibility. ArtGuide can also narrate a short lesson explaining how to use the active guide.
Artists can load a reference from the companion ArtGuide Reference Desk or upload their own image. The website (natashagubernov.com/artguide) includes categorized lettering, drawing, painting, and classic-art references, with additional filtering by portrait, square, or landscape format. Inside ArtGuide, the reference can be aligned to the real canvas, faded, hidden, blended, repositioned, and perspective-corrected by adjusting its corners.
AI features help artists develop and evaluate ideas directly within the experience. ArtGuide can:
- Generate photographic or traceable line-art references designed around the active composition guide.
- Generate subjects such as landscapes, still-life, portraits, figures, flowers, animals, trees, and interiors.
- Accept a custom subject through spoken or typed input.
- Produce new variations with different lighting, weather, viewpoints, and visual details.
- Analyze the selected reference in relation to the current guide and provide a focused composition critique.
- Read lessons and feedback aloud while the artist continues working.
- Generate a 3D still-life subject that can be placed beside the drawing surface, resized, viewed from different angles, and projected onto the paper.
ArtGuide also supports saving and recalling a working setup, repinning the experience to a surface, toggling guides and references independently, and hiding the interface for an unobstructed drawing view. Together, these features turn a physical workspace into an interactive art-learning environment for planning, observing, tracing, composing, and practicing.

Where and how are you analyzing the photos for artistic intent/ presentation? Amazon work btw. I'm jealous this is a next level idea.
