Can I just say: my white father was a police officer in Southern Oregon in the 1960s. This was during a wave of reparations for some First Nation people in the area. I remember hearing him and his friends speak with regret, compassion and admiration for the residents of our town who faced unimaginable hardship and lack. When their money started flowing, my father and his buddies seemed to notice with pleasure little signs of greater prosperity in the community, littles in newer clothes, better cars, higher levels of care in some neighborhoods, etc... I didn't really grok what they meant then. All I knew was these men cared about the people in their community, all of them. They were deeply principled people. Although he and his buds are long gone today, I can't help but hold out hope that there are people like them still on the job, just sort of trying to survive in a brutal climate right now; but doing quiet good when they're out & about. I'm a guiet old lady with no real reason to engage the police so I have no idea what's really going on outside of the news bubble. But I still have hope.

I am also an OLD lady although Quiet is NOT the right word. I do NOT cause problems, but will protect/ speak up.
I still think about the movie Serpico, and how basically he was tortured for NOT going with the blue crowd. I see too much of the us vs them mentality with the LEO's ( law enforcement officers) I was told by one " a friend" - WE know EVERYONE is a criminal - we just have to catch you at it. This person turned out to be one of the most hypocritical and sad people I had ever met. Glad they are out of my life

Yes, and tried to get an early medical release but the Illinois Prisoner Review Board unanimously denied his request on July 31, 2026.

I have been told from a "friend of the family" that he was already on a colostomy bag when he killed Sonya.
I'm not trying to talk away the victory lap for those "Karma always wins" folks but he was already dying when he murdered Sonya.

Looks like instead of 20 years he got life. Punk is the perfect example of a bad cop. I didnt know his victim but she seemed like a sweet woman who only wanted to give him blessings.

Oh BS!!! She was holding it then set it down BEFORE he murdered her. She barely weighed 100 lbs, and was 7 feet away. She couldn’t possibly have thrown that big pot at him.
And he’d been fired TWICE for using excessive force.

Have you NOT seen the video? She was NOT attacking him in any way shape or form. If you TRULY believe that she was attacking him then you are the weakest kind of person. He was way too far away from her even if she was. Also, he could have left. But instead he steps back and ends the life of an innocent.

I did NOT listen to the tapes ( I can not) - BUT IMHO She was "joking" - foolish but not an offense to murder her for and if you paid any attention to the trial - she could NOT have hit him with the water even if she tried.

We live in a world where an ICE agent shoots a woman in cold blood and his squad mates empty his house and move him into hiding. It would be totally on brand for someone to have faked his death because his early release was denied.
Plan was: get "cancer", get out of jail for murder on a "compassionate release", go into remission, live life free and easy somewhere sunny.
New plan: get "cancer", early "compassionate release" denied, "die from cancer", sneak out back door in a trench coat, get new name and ID, livevfreecand easy somewhere sunny.

I never said that either of the scenarios I described was the truth. I'm merely pointing out that we live in times where such a bizarre scheme is easy to consider.
HELL! The President of the United States of America tells bald faced easily checked lies, on TV and on Social media, on a Daily basis, and nearly a 1/3 of the people in this country believe him(or just want to believe so hard that they just shut off their brains). When it comes to ANYTHING that sounds like good news I want proof first, before I give up being suspicious of it.
