I am a foreigner dating Sri Lankan ( we met when both working in resort in Maldives ) . I seems like we have built very serious relationships and THEN I FOUND OUT THAT HE IS MARRIED but separately living from his wife which I dont really believe . But he was begging me to trust him and told me that he can’t get divorced with his wife even that he really wants it . He said she refused to ever divorce him as she won’t be able to get married again after divorce and wishes him the same fate …
So I feel very confused and frustrated about this situation as it seems like he genuinely loves me , we spend all the time together so I know that he does not call his wife and obviously they don’t live together …
I wish we could get married and I could give him my European passport and we could easily travel all along the world but he says it’s impossible.
Is he lying to me or is it really impossible?

I'm only 17 and I've already had 2 nerve fillings and 5 normal fillings ( idk the medical terms). I think It's mostly genetics because I brush every morning and night and I also eat less sugar compared to other ppl my age. And now I'm at the point even thinking about my oral health just stresses me out sm😭😭😭😭 so I HAVE TO DO SUM ABT IT. I asked my dentist what I should do and he said just brush your teeth twice a day and that will do (duh🙄). I've seen foreigners do something called flossing and they take it very seriously. It's a must in their oral hygiene routine. But I've never seen or heard about dentists or anyone in SL doing that.

So I'm curious do y'all floss? If you do, where you you buy that floss thingy? In pharmacies?

Why can’t Sri Lanka simply crush vehicles that are completely rusted out and have little to no value, even for spare parts?

Why are these literal pieces of scrap metal being put up for auction in the first place? If a vehicle is beyond economical repair and nobody can realistically use it for parts, wouldn’t it make more sense to scrap/crush it instead of auctioning it off?

I came across this place in Kabalana (good story villa) that has a padel court which charges 27,000 to train padel with their coach for 1.5 hours. Accidentally, I found they have a careers page, and was curious if I could be a coach there.
Unfortunately, the careers page is only in Russian.
(However, the rest of the website is in English). Wonder if they only offer jobs to Russians/Ukrainians or don’t want locals to work.

Like I wasn't even into Sri lankan ecom=nomics and politics until I saw his rants. Ever since then I've been a keen fan of him.

Now you know that our country isn't safe for journalists, escpecially for the ones who dare to expose our country's corrupt system(Gng we rank 139th in global rankings in terms of free speech). And yeah, his videos are highly controversial that he himself admitted in one video that the government might arrest him.

I have been working as a sales executive for a start up for like 4 months now. workplace is a disaster and I want to quit coz I got another offer lined up. the start up is run with 2 bosses and there is no documentation, HR, or any other policy so far. I also dont get any epf, etf or other benefits at the moment. Im currently in my probation period, and I started looking for other options 2 months in - Finally landed an offer now and my start date is coming in 2 weeks. I dont want to give them a two weeks notice, I just want to quit ASAP.

I have worked for the month of august, and there is technically another 7 working days till I get paid. Honestly dont want to keep working those 7 days either. If I quit now, I need to know the possibility of them holding my salary and not paying me for the work of August. My "employment agreement" if you can even call it that - states a 3 month notice period. And I have no intention of following through with that.

Sensible option would be to suck it up for the next 7 working days and get the salary to quit. But tbh my mental health will not hold up that much. If I quit immediately, What are the chances of them holding my salary? If they do, what can be my next step towards this? I need my salary to keep the household running, so going on a legal battle to get what I'm owed is not ideal. Give me your thoughts on this. What should I do?

Hi, so I've never played tennis before but am a generally active person who has played sports like basketball ( and a few others like cricket and swimming casually) while I was in school and I really want to start tennis and keep at it regularly ,so I'd love any advice on how to start off in a way that'll develop a hopefully unending love for the sport .

Am I being stupid considering migrating to New Zealand after a layoff?

I recently lost my job as a software engineer as part of a layoff. I've been looking for a job for the last two months. I've managed to get interviews, but unfortunately I haven't been able to land an offer yet.

I'm starting to think about alternatives, and one idea I've been considering is migrating to New Zealand as a student, studying something there, and eventually finding a non-IT-related job and building a life there.

I currently have around $24,000 USD in savings. I'm wondering whether it would be a terrible idea to use a significant portion of those savings to move to New Zealand and try this route.

I realize there are a lot of unknowns — tuition, living expenses, finding part-time work, visa requirements, and whether I'd actually be able to find a job after studying. I'm also not sure whether moving to another country just because I haven't been able to find a software engineering job after two months is an overreaction.

For those who have experience with New Zealand immigration, studying there as an international student, or moving there for work:

• Is this a realistic plan with around $24k USD in savings?
• Would you recommend studying something unrelated to IT, or would that make little sense given my software engineering background?
• How difficult is it realistically to find non-IT work as an international student/graduate?
• Would you personally spend your savings on this, or would you keep looking for software engineering jobs?
• Am I being impulsive and overreacting to a relatively short period of unemployment?

I'd really appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who have actually gone through something similar.

i wanted to ask for any tips and recommendations on where to go to get the most out of my short stay. i am mainly interested in nature and animals (especially marine life and diving!). im a solo traveler (24 F) and would prefer for this to be a budget trip but id still like to see and do as much as i can! i’m happy to travel outside of colombo if that would be feasible too and would appreciate any advice on where the best places are to stay in for those days.
