The one time I did see deftones it wasn’t t worth the heat! Ozzfest 99 at Riverport, so so hot on that lawn in a mosh pit, and they sucked. I really like deftones too just the screeching and yelling that they pulled off on their early albums was not good live.

Hate to break it to you, 1999 was almost 30 years ago. 🙃 They sound better live now than they ever have imo. Not many bands release brilliant music nearly 40 years into their careers. I would battle the heat for Chino & the boys.

Yes, it rises at night, but during the days this week its been significantly lower.
It's still hot as f..k, but sweat can actually evaporate right now, so it feels slightly better. The breeze, if you find one, feels good! Or almost good..

I agree. This wave isnt nearly as bad as the last one. I work outside in the sun 12+hrs a day and its definitely hot, but its bareable this time. Sooo ready for fall or maybe just a couple clouds...

DON'T FORGET: The pavement is super hot and will burn your dog's paws quickly. Mine wouldn't stay on the grass and started lifting her paws because the sidewalk was so hot :(
Needless to say, our walk was 4 minutes long and we played in the yard instead.

My dog is so mad she’s barely had any walks this month. She has a backyard and when it’s cool i take her out, but it’s just been too hot for regular walks.

Tug of war is what I do with my boy. We actively play in the backyard instead of just letting him out. It keeps him active the entire time and give me a nice work out too.

My AC went out last night. Thank goodness I was able to get it fixed this afternoon. It's still hot in here but getting cooler. It was 85 in the house around 10 so I took my dogs to the basement and set a circle of five fans up around us. Bleh.

I remember back in the day when it used to cool off after Labor Day. We'd get our first hard frost before Halloween. It was cold on Christmas and not 75F. When it snowed, it stuck around for weeks. There was none of this being melted off in 2 days. Wait...that's actually a good thing! And "they" say global warming isn't a thing!
Today, we're lucky to get a hard frost before Thanksgiving. I've suffered with my ragweed allergies up until Christmas in recent years.

Need to pull a gargantuan amount of co2 out the upper atmosphere to get our pre-1800 missouri climate back. Otherwise, it could takes 10s of thousands or over 100,000 years for a lot of that to decay/degrade

Been here for about 5 years, that's been my experience. I remember 2023 (?) Halloween it was like 35 and windy. Hoping we get that again this year.

I’ve having a hard time with my landscaping plants and trees, I work so they are on timers,
I can’t decide if twice a day on a soaker drip hose was too much so I did once a day and they suffer, some leaves scorched.

Im in southern illinois, close to st louis and all my plants have been questioning their lives. I foolishly just planted all my fall weather crops last week because I assumed it would start to be cooler!
I have my kale spinach and carrots hanging out inside most of the day now lol

My petunias are kicking ass and taking names in mostly full sun. I give mine a heavy watering every other day. That's what my mom did and she had hanging baskets of them everywhere. I also feed them a couple three times in the summer.

Petunias are most definitely not a mild weather plant. They thrive in the transition zone and do well in hot humid weather. They are ideal around here and will keep blooming well into October provided the are cared for. The great thing about them is they don't require a lot of care.

Or worse - in a steel mill in this heat. I've both worked outside and in a mill in excessive heat and I have to say the mill was by far the worst.
I couldn't do it today. I can't take the heat and humidity like I could 10 years ago. Sometimes just walking to the car bothers me.

I hear ya.
It takes almost 3 hours to cut my yard with a ZTR... I (stupidly) waited till a bit after 7 to get on the mower, I got no where near enough done, so I'll be cutting tomorrow after work again.
I need to get the trimmer out too, but F that....
