It is the "it could work!" Punchline that I love. Like, we have all of our eggs in this one stupid basket but maybe we won't drop it? (We probably will drop it).

Wait are we gonna drop it?

We'll drop it, some eggs will survive. Just like the Dot Com bubble. The eggs that make it will probably drive the next 10-20 years of development. Some will have useful but obscure tools that last like 20 years.

I dunno, I worked for a .com from the boom era and they were renovating the site and stuff.

Not every AI based company dies in a purge. The big ones and some useful obscure small ones will survive.

this. and actually the ones that survive are mostly just going to be the ones that are already running things, so it's going to be a consolidation of their power largely. Microsoft goes from software giant to unstoppable software titan.

then shit really gets crazy in robotics and space and people actually stop complaining about AI and start complaining about that stuff instead. the cycle continues baby

Didn't portfolios drop by like 25% when the .com bubble burst? That fucked a lot of retirees and people planning to retire. This bubble looks much worse, especially with the whole laws-and-regulations-are-meaningless thing going on right now.

That was a weak punchline imo
