Software Question Unwanted Home Screen Popups Over Gameplay

While playing on the deck, every now and then the screen darkens to a steam loading logo for a few seconds before bringing up the home screen.

There doesn't seem to be any way to interrupt this process, I have to just wait for the home screen to finish loading, then I can (usually) just close it and return to the game.

Unfortunately, when this happens it doesn't pause the game, not even with the "pause game" decky plugin installed and set to pause on loss of focus and/or on overlay.

Sometimes some inputs leak through to the game and I can pause it myself, but if it's a game that doesn't have native pause capability (or if the pause function is nested in a menu such as in monster hunter) I just have to listen to myself get ragdolled while I'm blind and hobbled.

This has been happening off and on for months, since a time when I had only steam games installed and no decky plugins or anything of the sort, but it appears to be getting worse/more frequent, and for the life of me I can't find a way to make it stop.

It was suggested to me that I disable the toggle to have steam startup animations play when waking the deck from sleep mode, and that seemed to help a little for a few days, but has long since ceased to deter the problem.

In case it wasn't apparent, I'm not pressing the steam or ... buttons to make this happen. It occurs seemingly at random, including when I'm not even touching the deck at all. It happens in both steam and non-steam games as long as I'm playing in gaming mode.

Setup Showoff Steam Deck Wall / Bedside Mount

Fed up of placing my Steam Deck on the floor or balancing it on a crowded bedside table. Couldn’t find anything that provided a good secure hold without being ugly, so I designed my own.

Find it here, if you want.

Edit: Guys, before raising concerns, asking questions, or pointing out the glaring design flaw you’ve just discovered, please have a quick look through the photos and MakerWorld description first.

There’s a reasonable chance I also noticed it while designing the thing.

Software Tips and Tricks Steam Deck stuck volume keys - WORKAROUND / FIX

My Volume Up key got stuck and keeps triggering continuously. I’ve been getting around it by using the in-game volume settings, but I found a Decky Loader plugin that makes this much easier.

It's called Volume Mixer and you can find it in the Decky Loader store.

How to use it:

  1. Launch your game.
  2. Open the Volume Mixer plugin from the Decky menu.
  3. All active sound outputs will appear. Just adjust them to your preferred levels.

I haven't tested it for a stuck Volume Down key, but it should work the exact same way. Hope this helps anyone dealing with hardware button issues!

Running this through waydroid. The many ports that have came out recently all will run on waydroid however this one in particular doesn't seem to have any trouble with online functionality.

The biggest issue is theres no controller support like in the ps vitas vpk port. Does anyone have any idea of how to implement some controller functionality on the android version?

or using waydroid on the deck like this for the game?

General Question Black screen with audio in gaming mode, but desktop mode works well?

I have not updated my Shadps4 since 0.13 and I just did today with 0.18. With the update I only have a black screen but with audio. In Bazzite (I assume same as a Steam Deck) it works well with picture and audio on desktop mode but not on gaming mode. Is there a fix for this?

Hardware Question Steam button and 3 dots button issue

Hi,

For months at this point (im an on and off player) my steam button and 3 dots button when pressed, zoom into the screen. When I release they zoom back out. I tried to hold the steam button and the L bumper, that seems to do nothing.

Ive been looking for answers but most are related to other issues with these buttons. Has anyone figured out what the issue is with these buttons?

Im on the latest stable version of steam. I do have decks installed but o cant access that because my 3 dots button zooms in. For what I can tell, any button combo action I need to use the steam button for like for the keyboard, works fine. Its just when pushed by itself it zooms in.

Any help?

edit: Redditch suggested i post here as well.

Hardware Question Steam deck remote play Xbox controller issues Farm Sim 25

I have tried looking this up all over the internet's and have yet to find a good answer or solution. It's possible the solution is that it just doesn't work.

Has anyone figured out how to play FS25 through remote play on a steam deck with an Xbox controller?

When I boot up the game the controller will skip the intro video but then I have no controls at the main menu. Once a games loaded sometimes the controls work other times they only work in a limited fashion.

Gamepads are turned on in options. I've reset the controls under the game options. I e deleted input mapping in the game files to have them reset. I've reset the controller.

Does it just not work? Or has anyone figured this one out?

Hardware Question How do I fix this?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So basically I was playing a game that required to press down the stick a lot and I feel like it has broke it. I can lift it up a bit and then press it down again. I'm thinking about opening the deck to deal with the problem, but I don’t know exactly what it is, so if anyone has had the same issue as me, I would gladly accept some advice

Software Tips and Tricks Adaptive Frame Generation

Hey folks,

I have been developing new features on-top of existing plugins to allow Adaptive Frame Generation (borrowing from Lossless Scaling as well) on Steam Machine/Deck (basically Linux/Steam OS ecosystem).

I have also been collaborating with many kind gamers to help me testing it and I think we have achieved something that worth trying out:

https://github.com/eugeniosegala/decky-lsfg-vk-experimental/releases/tag/v0.13.0-experimental.21

I personally noticed that the plugin helps with stuttering and unstable frame-rate in general as well (besides increasing FPS).

We all wished that the steam machine could handle 4k 60fps or 1440p 120fps natively but it is what it is.

Test it and let me know, I'm keen to know how you are finding adaptive frame generation, you can set it to 100fps as well if you prefer less ghosting :)

I'm pretty much using it in all my AAA games.

Enjoy!
