-freaked out a little about new Free120 score drop (converter said ~260). Online form did not save my answers so I looked through the questions/answer key a second time to record my answers. I think this inflated my old Free120 score.
Predicted Score: 269 +/- 9
Actual STEP 2 score: 279
-My real exam I thought was slightly more straightforward than the practice NBMEs. Right after the exam, I felt okay/mostly just relieved it was over. Very happy with my score!!!

6/29 tester but I reported my exam issue (computer froze during the exam but it was just a tiny issue, finished the exam on time).
I’ll update you if I get the results (for your reference)
I know my result would be late (hope not too late🥲) but I decided to report just in case.

May I ask. Did they reply yet as in review completed? Or just told u it takes minimum 15 business days. Coz mine shows i will get the results today but they haven’t replied about reviewing my case. I reported a similar issue

I received an email about the minimum 15 business days couple days after. I've never received the email that said my case is completed (maybe I should wait? not sure). How do you know you will get the result today? (I don't know how to see that).

When was your exam date? Mine was June 29. I emailed the issue on July 6. Now I still see my permit on FSMB 🤣

Yes. To sum up, I did step 2 on June 29. And the result came on July 29 (1 month of waiting).

Scores dropped, at least for IMGs. Got a 246! Couldn't be happier trying to match surgery.

Did anyone who tested July 1st or 2nd who reported an issue that occurred during the test get scores today? I tested over both days bc accomodations and did not get my score back

AMBOSS predicted 260, first NBME 9 was 242, NBME 16 was 267, real result was 262. 7/3

My real exam felt pretty similar to the most recent NBMEs. Some questions were definitely a WTF moment but majority of it felt fine. Even then I legit flagged half the questions on every other block so walked out feeling absolute crap.

I took Step 1 in the summer of 2022 and couldn’t find any consecutive time to study for step 2 due to research requirements from my PhD studies, so here I am. It has been very difficult to pick up after four years of intermittent learning. So I would highly recommend to take the exams sometime near the previous ones.
But I still want to use myself as a case to encourage everyone who finds themselves in similar shoes. It’s still doable and you got to trust yourself!
The NBMEs were not near my goal in the beginning (was aiming for 250+), and thanks to the suggestions from this community, I postponed it for 10 days and I still feel like this is the best decision I have ever made.
The exam itself was very vague and I was flagging 10+ Qs for most sessions. Almost convinced that I must have failed when I walked out of the Prometric center. But it seems like you got to trust your NBMEs and yourself that all the hard work will pay off eventually!

Shelf exam scores throughout 3rd year 80%+ (Did not re-do CMS forms during dedicated as I had done most of them during 3rd year, and I didn’t have the time)
UWorld during clinical year: completed 70% of qbank, 67% correct
UWorld during dedicated period (I reset it): completed 25%, 79% correct
School mandated CCSSA: 244 (~ 2 months out)
NBME 11: 249 (27 days out)
NBME 13: 249 (20 days out)
NBME 14: 255 (15 days out)
NBME 15: 256 (8 days out)
NBME 16: 267 (4 days out)
New Free 120: 90% (2 days out)
Amboss score predicted: 262
Total weeks studied ~ 4 weeks, was busier in personal life than I expected and pretty burnt out so didn’t get as much done as I wanted to
Actual score: 267
Really happy and grateful with how it went. I think jumping into dedicated right after my last clerkship and aiming as high as possible for each shelf exam really helped me build a strong foundation.
On test day, the exam overall felt fine, I didn’t walk out feeling great or horrible, very neutral. I think with any exam of this nature, there will be questions that throw you for a curveball and you don’t see coming, but overall I felt like at least 80% of it was very representative of the prep material.

Post exam felt very uncertain and found the exam challenging due to the answer options not necessarily the presentations. Although, generally felt that way after practice exams too.
Did all nbme forms offline
Scored around 80% for forms 12-14
Scored 84% for forms 15 and 16
Did both AMBOSS and uworld 1 pass around 65-70% overall correct

I took Step 1 in the fall of 2023 and started preparing for my annual exams. Then next year, i studied STEP2 during the final year of my medical school and during the 80hr/week internship. It was very diffcult to make time to study for STEP2 during internship. So i started focusing on managing the cases according to USA guidelines and i think that is what beiught me score to 271. Other wise i would ha e scored the usual 260 at max.
Exam experience: exam was very stright forward for me. Ofc there were wtf questions but not very often. I am not a big fan of flagging. I only flag if i am gonna come back and think or calculate again. I flagged 3-4 questions per block. The questions were based on real life scenario which you rarely learn from qbanks. Questions were not difficult. They were just different. Question statements were really long. But reading the whole statement carefully was necessary as many questions were just about reading statement carefully especially QI and ethics questions. The HOPI questions were really long. And needed the real intern approach (PRESENTING COMPLAINT, relevant physical, relevant past history, relevant labs).
Resources:
- Anking is the king👑. Its so good for retention
- uworld: did 100% with 70% correct. Didnt repeat. Throughout my uworld, i amde cards for wrong questions and imp right questions focusing on correcting the approach and thought process 9nstead of cosuing on information
- Amboss: did gastro and cardio. Did QI. Did some HY blocks. Did random blocks excluding 5 hammer ones. I think amboss is a superb resources if you exclude 5 hammer ones. Its keeps things simple and ask in a manner similar to exam. It also focuses on thing which are usually missed in other resources. I would recommend doing amboss over doing uworld wrongs.
Cms: super important. Most of the questions are easy but some stupid questions teach you how the real exam is gonna be. I did cms obgyn, psych, Im, neuro. I wish i had done other as well.
Nbmes: most important resource. Nbme 13 is so stupid. Dont let it discourage you. Learn them well. I followed the approach of writing ine liners for important question/ wrong questions ona plain paper and revising them daily before sleeping. Got to 14 pages till the end of all nbmes. I learnt this technique from reddit. Nbme 15, 16 and free 120s are most representative of exam.
inner circle notes: i advice against using them. It has nbme info in it and highlighted as well. It inflates your score. Thats why alot of people see huge score drops on recent nbmes (15 and 16) and the real deal. It gives you false satisfaction that you know a topic because you got the question right.
Work hard. Believe in yourself. Get real life experience as much as you can. Read actual american guidelines to get the bigger picture. Trust your nbme scores.
