Has anyone heard of this situation before? Do I need to email programs on the 23rd itself letting them know?

How is everyone feeling about tomorrow? Personally very nervous 😅

Just finished my test, i assume that just like everyone i feel exhausted from the 9 hours session, i studied very weirdly and should have taken the exam long time ago but i couldn’t due to annoying circumstances.

I felt like age has hit me hard today lol, I wish for my performance today to be as close as it can be to my last assessments

But i felt that the exam got weirder every block lol

To be fair it wasn’t lengthy, it was normal with some questions being very long ofc, i had over 30% of and only 2 abstracts questions as patient charts and tbh i felt much better doing these.

The exam content is
50% ( ik what it is from the first glance )
30% hmmmm i think this has to be the answer bcz no way the other one is true
10% maybe the answer is this ( wtf is this way of questions and answers writing?? )
10% if you are the question writer himself you COULD answer

among the last 20%

5% of questions are things you only answer if u were an elite med school student that actually attended, listened and viewed weird resources and you have ur instagram reels filled with medical bullshit lol

10% are straight up challenging and time consuming, they could throw a clear scenario about eg blunt abdominal trauma with shock, and give you zero clue to know which kind of shock and expect you to know whats the cause based on whats most common or most likely in the absence of clear clinical evidence ( and this could apply to any single presentation) trust me you will be smiling when u see such questions

5% are straight up you shall never answer unless you are a pathologist, interventional radiologist etcc bcz its for sure not even close to a normal specialist depth ( but you heard of it though, they say 😂😂 )

Overall i think the exam is pretty fair , u have 80 unscored questions so relax ur shoulders when u see weird shit, every question was vetted before it reaches you so trust that there will be a glowing answer most of the time, and never listen to discouraging comments, its true that it feels a bit different but so does every nbme when u take it, the test is not a vacation, its meant to test you as a physician responsible for life and death and its by all means fair and square.

Do we think we'll get our scores back on 9/9 (2 weeks later) or 9/16 (3 weeks later) due to Labor Day?

I see everybody talk about their Amboss, but do people use step2predictor (http://step2predictor.com)?

It has an option to compare your NBMEs to your score “twins” against their actual score.

Wanted to know if people who already took Step 2 used it, and whether or not it was accurate.

For those of you who took step 2 recently how long did it take to get back your score? I’m supposed to take it Friday but am considering pushing it back a few days.

I am about to lose my mind because I just took NBME 15 and nothing has changed.

I know my scores are not bad, but I am aiming for 270+ (maybe even higher). Even without a high target, seeing some improvement would be nice.

My first UWorld pass was 79%. I only did a second pass for my incorrect and marked questions. I have done most of the CMS forms and use Anki for my UWorld incorrects. I recently started AMBOSS but realized I do not have enough time for it.

Whaaaat am I doing wrong? I thoroughly review NBMEs and am usually good at taking exams, but NBMEs never fail to surprise me. There is always something completely new. Is there a hidden resource that only 270+ scorers know about? Are people mastering AMBOSS? WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO DO? If they keep asking random low-yield details, I don't know what to do.

I have seen some posts on reddit explaining how you can master NBME's by just "using your clinical judgement" and choosing the answer that feels the safest, but IT DOESNT WORK. These questions genuinely require specific knowledge that you simply have to know.

And I only have 1 NBME left. I gotta figure this out quick

passed step 1 few months back and i am just starting uw for step 2 now but my uw is around 40% and it feels like that i have forgot most of step 1 content, what should i do

I took Step 2 on 8/21, and I'm expecting my scores tomorrow 12pm EST. Is there a working methord to see these earlier?

WHAT I HAVE DONE SO FAR:

• Completed uworld except biostats, did not redo incorrect as my subscription expired
• 75% of amboss + amboss hy plans (did hy plans twice)
• All the CMS forms with average of: IM (87%), Surg ( 84%), EM (83%), Psych (81%), Peds (80%), ObGyn (80%), Neuro (79%), FM (76%)
• I then planned to do all the CMS forms again but only managed to do EM, Psych and Peds.
• I have skimmed thru FA once

Testing in 2 wks pls advice what would be the best bang for buck rn with the limited time I've.

FYI i did not do biostats until NBME 13, and i simply blind guessed all the biostats qs in all the forms before that. i watched randy neil, and did amboss biostats before nbme 13 which improvd my scores a bit, for some reason i don't fw biostats honestly, but ik u can't avoid it forever.

For those of you who scored 270 pls advise on what should i focus on rn.

A: review all the nbme biostats qs, and possibly try to do as much of uworld biostats i could

B: Mehlman PDFs

C: Inner Circle Notes

How should i prioritize these three in the 2 wks if i can't do them all.

Took Step 8/21, expecting scores tomorrow at 12pm EST. Are there any currently working methods to see my before that time?

It was actually doable + a little hope for anyone struggling with NBMEs

Just got done with the real deal and wanted to post this because before my exam I spent WAY too much time reading posts saying the exam was horrible, impossible, nothing like the NBMEs, etc. 😭 honestly made me so much more anxious going in.
Obviously I don't have my score yet, so take this purely as an exam-day experience, but: the exam was doable.
Was it long? Absolutely. Were there weird questions? Of course. There were definitely questions where I had to make an educated guess, and some where I narrowed it down to two options and moved on. But overall, I could understand what most questions were asking and felt like the material I studied was actually relevant. It felt like NBMEs which I had revised over and over.
As for my prep, in the start I was genuinely stuck on the NBMEs. I would study more, do more questions, review more content, and still wasn't seeing the improvement I wanted. It was incredibly frustrating because I felt like I knew a lot of medicine, but somehow it wasn't translating into my scores.
At that point I decided to get help from a person with an amazing score and had some experience teaching, and that ended up making a huge difference for me. More than just teaching me extra facts, she helped me look at questions differently. I can write a separate post listing all the other things I did to supplement my prep.

Once I started applying those strategies, things finally started clicking. My last couple of assessments improved pretty dramatically compared with where I had been stuck before.
Toward the end of my prep:
• NBME 16: 260
• New Free 120: 90%
• Old Free 120: 88%

Seeing that improvement after being stuck for so long honestly gave me a lot more confidence going into the exam.
As for the real thing, I think one of the biggest lessons from today is: do not let Reddit horror stories convince you that you're walking into an impossible exam. People are much more likely to make a post after an awful experience than after a normal/doable one.
There will be vague questions. There will be questions you don't know. There will probably be blocks that feel worse than others. But you do NOT need to know every single answer to do well.
Trust your preparation. Trust the patterns you've seen in NBMEs and Free 120. Read the question carefully, figure out what they're actually asking, pick the best answer you can, and keep moving.
If you're currently stuck at the same NBME score and starting to think you're incapable of improving: you absolutely can improve.
I was terrified before walking in because of everything I had read online, and I just wanted to leave one post here saying:

Hi everyone! I just got my COMLEX Level 2 score back and scored a 46X. I was hoping for >500, but overall I am just happy to have passed! 🤩

I have been debating whether I should still take Step 2 to potentially improve my chances of matching EM, and I’d really appreciate some advice on whether it’s worth it in my situation.

Many of the programs I am interested in accept COMLEX without Step 2, and I am primarily interested in community programs rather than large academic programs.

Background:

• Level 1: Pass, first attempt
• Step 1: Pass, first attempt
• Level 2: 46X, pass, first attempt

My biggest concern is that my NBME scores haven’t been where I’d want them:

• Form 10: 191 (before dedicated board studying)
• Form 11: 214
• Form 12: 217
• Form 13: 220
• Form 14: 214
• Form 15: 221

I’ve completed and reviewed UWorld, reviewed every NBME multiple times and in depth, and gone through the CMS forms twice. I have also listened to pretty much all of Divine and done a ton of youtube videos for in depth review. Despite all of that, my scores have only minimally improved. If I take Step 2, my goal would be 235+.

I currently have Step 2 rescheduled for less than 2 months from now, which would be after applications are submitted. If I do take it, I’m considering switching to AMBOSS for the remainder of my prep because their explanations seem to click better for me.

At this point, though, I’m wondering whether taking Step 2 is even worth the added stress. During the time I would be studying for it, I will also be finishing and submitting applications while also completing another audition rotation. I am worried that continuing to study for Step 2 could take time and energy away from making a great impression on my audition and putting together the strongest application possible.

Side note: I already have 2 SLOEs and have received very positive feedback on my rotations, so I feel like my rotation feedback/SLOEs will be one of the stronger parts of my application.

Would you take Step 2 in my situation, or focus on auditions/applications and apply with COMLEX alone? I’d especially appreciate input from current EM residents, applicants, or anyone familiar with how EM programs view COMLEX-only applicants.

I felt like I failed after the exam. The time pressure in every 20-question block was intense, and I ended up missing the last 2–3 questions in several blocks, having to pick random answers. Too long steams every other Q all over through last question/ block! Be ready for that!
But I have time issues with my mock exams as well mostly lost 2-3 last questions in each (50 Q) blocks!

I suggest listen to divine adventure in these topics first and then do amboss QI/ ethic/ risk factors/ screening twice in the last 2 weeks (many repeats)
My exam has repeated from new free 120 and NBME16, mostly focus on last NMBEs high yield topics and ask chat GPT the whole approach to that topic: Like “approach to neonate icterus” / “approach to Immono deficiency” / “approach to sickle cell”. then memorize how ddx diagnosis/ management/ test/ treatment …

My practice score timeline heading into Step 2 CK:

• NBME 13: 227
• NBME 14: 240
• NBME 15: 253 (43 incorrects)

(7 days out)

• NBME 16: 254 (44 incorrects)(4 days out)

I'm aiming for 255+ on the actual exam, but I'm stuck on this: only two out of four NBMEs ever broke 250. That's not a long enough streak for me to feel like it's my "real" level — it feels more like I hit a good stretch twice, not that I've actually arrived there.

And honestly on that last one specifically, I feel like I was guessing on way more questions than the score reflects, and it's messing with my head. Like I got lucky and the number doesn't actually represent what I know. I know for a fact some of those correct answers were guesses, not real knowledge. So now I'm second-guessing whether 253/254 is actually who I am as a test-taker, or just two good rolls of the dice right before the exam.

Adding to the pressure: I'm a non-US IMG applying into internal medicine, and a lot of my colleagues applying this cycle scored above 260. I know Step 2 isn't everything for IMGs but it carries a lot of weight, and seeing those numbers next to mine isn't helping the spiral.

Has anyone else only broken into their target range on 1-2 NBMEs before the real thing and still hit their number on test day? and is the 255+ or 260 still possible? Trying to figure out if two data points is enough to trust, or if I should expect regression on the actual exam. 4 days left and this is eating at me.

Hello! I hope yall are doing well. My exam is in 2 weeks exactly.

• I have taken nbme 11 - 15 ( 11 - 254 , 12 - 255, 13 - 270, 14 - 257, 15 - 260) Last nbme 15 was the only one and my first one which I did in proper timed mode, and made some very silly mistakes in it which is frustating.
  
• CMS forms last 3 to 4 forms of every subject (scored 80 % + on all of them except neuro 9 form which was diffcult).
  

I need 270+ or atleast 260+ on this exam. I am on old IMG. I have worked hard to achieve 260+. But in these remaining days I am confused and need advice how to navigate.

• Should I do my form 16 and free / old 120 now or in last 7 days ? - after revising my notes from previous nbmes which I previously planned to revise in the end after all the nbmes.
  
• is old free 120 (2021 edition) worth doing ?
• best source/wesbite for new 120 explainations ? (kindly mention)
• how to imrove my score in remaining days ?
• I did biostat from only uworld, but I dont know how to revise it now ? like do uworld again or go for some other source ?

i want to listen to podcasts that thoroughly cover a topic or cover very high yield stuff or podcasts that give tips and tricks to rationalize some questions ie"inappropriate breast development --> low estrogen" cervical cancer screening podcast was also good. any recommendations?

Does it make sense or too close to each other schedule for NBME

After weeks of isolating myself for this test, the feeling of loneliness is getting to me. I still have 2 weeks to go. I don’t know how to push through them tho!
I crave human connection, interactions and intimacy so bad. These feelings are wasting my time and I don’t know how to deal with them. I don’t want them to affect my test too.

I had to cut off all my friends to be here and I’ve been single my whole life and rejected every guy because I didn’t have time and wanted to focus on becoming a doctor.

Now I feel dumb for doing so. thinking that I’ll finish my test and not have someone special makes me sad.
I always saw our teaching professors who were single in their 60s and never married and I thought this can’t be real. Now I’m scared I might be one of them if medicine keeps being the center of my life!
