As a 2000s baby, I started out & played the heck out of DS remake, and grew up on later consoles, primarily the Wii & 3ds. So when going back to the original 1996 game afterwards, also on an original N64 console, roughly 5 years ago, the depth perception in this game was an absolute nightmare for me.

I will easily admit that wall kicks aren't my strongest skill. I'm just glad I was able to do it in Boo's house to get inside the wall to the eye to get the star. I'm struggling hard in Rainbow Ride. I have a normal N64 controller for this. How can I do these wall kick all the way up to get that stupid canon opened? I do a kick up, but I just don't get enough leap or whatever to do a kick on the opposite wall. So, I'm a one wall kick in this area and not able to make the distance to do another kick.

I know about the 1 4 8 11 frame trick, but I cant mash that fast. My click speed is only 5 cps, and thats on a mouse (I use switch pro controller for SM64). If I really put everything I have into mashing, flexing my arms and trying my hardest, I get it like 1/10 times at best. And that makes my arms and fingers cramp after like 20 minutes of practice.

Any advice? Any tricks? I use project 64 and an emulator on PC.

my run.bat is broken and it didnt make the saves oops

I was watching Death Note, an unrelated anime, for the first time and realized this funny connection. L is real in the anime... Was Mario 64 foreshadowing this event? Perhaps!

I've tried in Android port and PC emulator and I still get this error.

I am new to speedrunning and i have all the tricks down for a 16 star run except the blj, because for some reason mario just stands up whenever he gains a certain amout of speed, which interrupts the blj. Then he always slides backwards at roughly the same amout suggesting he always has a similar amount of spees when this happens. I have searched everywhere and didnt find a solution, thats why im asking here. I am playing on Mupen64Plus with a normal xbox controller idk if that makes a difference. Does anybody know why this happens and why the blj does not work?
